The Twisted Obsession-Chapter 327: Pregnant
Chapter 327: Pregnant
Lily sat on the cold bathroom floor, her back pressed against the wall, her legs drawn up tightly against her chest. Her hands trembled as they clutched the crumpled test results, the bold letters confirming what she already knew deep inside: she was pregnant. Her eyes blurred with tears, unable to focus on the words, but the truth weighed heavily in her chest.
She was going to be a mother.
The realization hit her with the force of a tidal wave, washing over her in waves of shock, fear, and guilt. A baby. Her baby. Cage’s baby. She imagined his reaction—the joy, the excitement—but that only made her feel worse. She didn’t deserve this. Not after everything. How could she bring a child into this world when her own world felt like it was unraveling?
The sobs came then, soft at first, but they grew louder, wracking her body as she tried to contain the storm of emotions raging inside her. She felt like she was falling apart, her carefully constructed life crumbling beneath her feet.
Lily had always wanted to be a mother, but not like this. Not now, when she was drowning in secrets and lies. Not when her life was a lie built on the shaky foundations of a truth she had only recently uncovered.
The sound of the bathroom door creaking open pulled her from her thoughts. She didn’t look up, but she knew who it was.
"Lily?"
Cage’s deep voice was filled with concern, and when she didn’t respond, he quickly crossed the room and knelt beside her. His eyes widened as he took in the sight of her sitting on the floor, tears streaming down her face, her body trembling with sobs. He glanced down, and his gaze fell on the crumpled pregnancy test in her hands.
"Lily," he whispered, his voice softening with surprise and wonder. He reached out, gently taking the test from her shaking hands and reading the result. His lips parted, his expression transforming from confusion to pure joy.
"You’re pregnant," Cage said, his voice filled with disbelief, as though he were afraid to believe it, yet overjoyed at the same time. "We’re going to be parents."
He pulled her into his arms, hugging her tightly, burying his face in her hair as he processed the news. "You’re going to be a mother," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "And I’m going to be a dad."
But as he held her, Cage quickly realized something was wrong. Lily wasn’t hugging him back. Her sobs hadn’t stopped, and her body remained stiff, her head bowed as if she were trying to hide her face from him.
"Lily?" Cage pulled away slightly, his brow furrowing as he cupped her face in his hands, tilting her head up so he could look into her eyes. "What’s wrong? Why are you crying? This is amazing news."
Lily blinked through her tears, her lips trembling as she looked up at him. She could see the happiness in his eyes, the hope, but it only made her heart ache more.
"I don’t... I don’t deserve this," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "I don’t deserve to be a mother."
Cage frowned, confused by her words. "What are you talking about? Of course you deserve this, Lily. You’re going to be an amazing mother."
Lily shook her head, pulling away from him and burying her face in her hands. "No, you don’t understand," she cried, her voice cracking with anguish. "After everything I’ve done... everything that’s happened... I don’t deserve this. I don’t deserve to be happy."
Cage’s heart clenched at the sight of her breaking down like this. He had never seen her like this—so vulnerable, so broken. He reached out, his hands gently resting on her shoulders, his voice soft and reassuring. "Lily, why are you saying this? What have you done that’s so terrible?"
Lily shook her head again, her tears falling harder. She didn’t know how to tell him. She didn’t know how to explain the weight of the secret she had been carrying for weeks. But she couldn’t hold it in any longer. freēnovelkiss.com
"My mom..." she whispered, her voice trembling. "She reached out to me."
Cage stiffened at her words, but he didn’t interrupt. He just waited, his heart pounding as he watched her struggle with her emotions.
"She told me something... something that’s been tearing me apart," Lily continued, her voice barely above a whisper. "Something about my dad. The man I thought was my dad."
Cage’s brow furrowed, his confusion deepening. "What do you mean?"
Lily swallowed hard, her throat tightening with the weight of the confession. "He wasn’t my real dad," she said, her voice breaking. "My mom told me... she told me that the man I grew up calling ’dad’ wasn’t my biological father. She said my real dad... he’s someone else."
Cage’s eyes widened in shock, but he remained silent, letting her continue.
"She said my real dad is... a man who’s been in and out of prison, a man who abandoned us when I was just a baby," Lily choked out, her voice thick with pain. "I grew up hating him, thinking he was the worst person in the world. And now, I find out that the man I loved, the man who raised me, wasn’t even my father."
Cage’s heart ached for her, for the pain she must have been carrying all this time. He reached out, gently wiping the tears from her cheeks. "Lily... that doesn’t change who you are. It doesn’t change anything about the person you’ve become."
Lily shook her head, pulling away from his touch. "But it does! It changes everything. My whole life has been a lie. And now I’m supposed to bring a child into this world when I don’t even know who I am anymore?"
Cage’s grip tightened on her, his voice firm but gentle. "Lily, listen to me. None of that defines you. Not your parents, not the lies they told you. You are your own person. You are strong, kind, and you will be an incredible mother."
Lily’s body shook with sobs, but she could hear the conviction in Cage’s voice, the love in his words. He wasn’t letting her spiral into the guilt and confusion she had been drowning in. He was anchoring her, holding her steady in the storm.
"But I feel so lost," Lily whispered, her voice breaking. "I feel like everything I knew is falling apart."
Cage pulled her into his arms again, holding her tightly as her tears soaked into his shirt. "Then we’ll rebuild it together," he whispered, his voice filled with love and determination. "You’re not alone, Lily. We’re in this together."
Lily’s sobs quieted as she clung to him, the weight of her secret feeling just a little lighter now that it was out. She wasn’t sure how she would navigate this new truth, or what it meant for her future, but as she rested in Cage’s arms, she felt something she hadn’t felt in weeks: hope.
And maybe, just maybe, that was enough.
