the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 1001: Crystal Landon Was Preselected
When Crystal Landon returned to the Landon Family, no one was happier than Nova Howard, who came to call on Crystal every morning to go to school together.
Crystal was worried about not having a driver to take her, and she didn’t have a car. If she drove Clark Landon’s car every day, it’d probably be a hassle, so she started hitching rides with the Howard Family.
Since making it into the top hundred of the grade, the label of "pretty but dumb" was finally removed from Crystal. After some time together, everyone discovered that the girl with the worst reputation and the most beautiful looks in the whole school was nothing like the rumors.
Crystal’s personality was carefree and bold. Although she wasn’t fond of socializing, she generally didn’t cause trouble, didn’t gossip, didn’t badmouth others behind their backs, and certainly didn’t engage in silly acts like writing love letters to guys. If you ignored Nova Howard who followed her around every day, you could almost say she was a loner.
Many boys even thought she was both beautiful and cool, secretly dubbing her the "Goddess of St. Yale," which reached the ears of Sophia Winton, who was determined to become the school beauty. She was so infuriated her nose twitched and she grew to dislike Crystal even more.
Half a month into the semester, after the freshman military training ended, St. Yale High School welcomed its annual opening ceremony. Suddenly, the spokesperson for the senior students became a hot commodity, fiercely contested, with many students already volunteering themselves for the role.
This year’s teacher representative was the stunningly handsome Mr. Hawk Howard. Since Mr. Howard came to St. Yale High, the principal instantly felt that their school could easily claim the title of top high school in the Imperial City. Look, a Massachusetts Tech PhD as their English teacher, and he was even a specially recruited national talent; this level of prestige was unparalleled. So, to show the importance of Mr. Howard, the tradition of the principal delivering the speech was set aside, and it was proposed that Mr. Howard should give the address.
Mr. Howard casually mentioned, "In previous years, the student spokespersons were always those who excelled in both academics and conduct, completely incapable of motivating the less accomplished students. Perhaps if an inspiring student could speak this year, it might encourage more students to study hard."
The principal slapped his thigh, thinking it was a great idea, then Mr. Howard added, "How about Crystal Landon from Class 3-5? She jumped from the bottom to the top hundred in the first mock test."
And so, Crystal was internally decided upon as the senior representative at the opening ceremony.
When she received the news, Crystal exclaimed, "What the hell!" Nova Howard let out a scream, and so did Sophia Winton, turning Class 3-5 into chaos.
There weren’t many students with excellent grades and conduct at St. Yale High School; most were in the middle. Upon learning that this year’s senior representative was an absolutely stunning girl, everyone stealthily rubbed their hands in anticipation. Every year they’d been looking at four-eyed bookworms, what was there to see? Moreover, the principal wasn’t even giving a speech this year, so the opening ceremony was bound to become a feast for the eye candy lovers.
"Crystal, did you know? Sophia Winton was so mad she cried; I heard she went to volunteer herself and even told the grade leader that her family could sponsor the school, hehe, how shameless is that?" Nova Howard giggled like a little hamster all the way. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎
The only downside Crystal found to hitching rides with the Howard Family was that Hannah Howard was really a chatterbox.
"Crystal, you have to dress to impress everyone that day, got it?"
Crystal rolled her eyes and said, "Everyone’s wearing school uniforms that day."
The St. Yale High School uniform wasn’t bad looking. Given that most students came from wealth or high status, sponsors were everywhere, making for a very well-designed uniform. The girls’ uniform was a black top and a red skirt that accentuated the figure. Crystal seldom wore her uniform because her waist was too slim, her legs too long, and her skin too fair, wearing it would just draw waves of jealousy.
