The Tycoon's Enchanted Mermaid-Chapter 119 - : Making up my Mind
Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Making up my Mind
Fang Yuan took a taxi all the way to Yulong Villa, where Lu Yuan messaged her on WeChat, telling her that he had some affairs to deal with and would return late tonight. He asked her not to rush off after her class.
Wait for him.
Those two words rendered Fang Yuan in a daze.
Ever since Lu Yuan had pierced through the thin layer dividing their relationship, Fang Yuan had maintained an ambiguous connection with him, with hugs, kisses, and even once, they nearly took things further after a dinner.
Lu Yuan’s pursuit came mighty like a storm, roses, necklaces, designer bags—more than once, they had been sent to her school.
Her roommates had already assumed they were together, often teasing her, telling her not to work too hard and to secure her grasp on Lu Yuan. By marrying into a wealthy family upon graduation, she wouldn’t have to work a day.
The school forums also frequently buzzed with talk about her, to the point where even the teachers took notice and urged her not to neglect her studies.
Only Fang Yuan knew clearly in her heart she hadn’t decided to be with Lu Yuan. The reason was still the discrepancy between their family backgrounds and social statuses. She feared getting too deep in, afraid that Lu Yuan was merely indulging a momentary interest and would discard her once he had his fill.
It was not that she was being overly anxious about unlikely threats; many harsh realities lay apparent, like those rich second-generation individuals who flaunt their love with celebrities high-profile, only to wound each other as a spectacle on trending searches as an act to draw the curtains.
If the stars couldn’t captivate the hearts of those wealthy individuals, frankly, Fang Yuan had not enough confidence in herself.
Besides being beautiful, she had nothing else to showcase. But speaking of beauty, the world was full of women prettier than she. Moreover, what good could come from serving men with one’s looks?
Fang Yuan did not want to regard Lu Yuan as a vulgar man who pursued beauty, but she had to admit a fact—if she weren’t good-looking, Lu Yuan wouldn’t have noticed her from the start.
Hence, she was always conflicted and tangled up inside.
Her best friend accused her of being pretentious, and frankly, she was not wrong.
Today, with Ah Da’s encouragement, Fang Yuan, clutching her mobile phone and handbag, followed the butler into the hall, where she took her place on the sofa with a deep breath. She then opened WeChat and replied to Lu Yuan’s message.
Before long, the butler called down Lu Jing, and in a rush, Fang Yuan stuffed her phone into her bag and gathered her emotions to focus on tutoring Lu Jing.
Lu Jing never paid attention during sessions, immersed in his games or tinkering with various dangerous weapons—knives, swords, crossbows, and even occasionally guns.
Although Lu Jing laughed it off as replicas, Fang Yuan found it a bit terrifying, because this child was unpredictable, sometimes aiming them at her just to scare her.
Dusk fell, darkening everything outside the window.
Lu Jing slouched over his desk, absorbed in his game, while Fang Yuan had grown accustomed to speaking to herself, just like he said, “You do your teaching; it’s my business whether I listen. The money gets paid all the same.”
A faint scent drifted through the air almost imperceptibly, and Lu Jing’s movements in his game slowed. He lifted his gaze to Fang Yuan, who sat opposite, focused on explaining knowledge points.
She wore a red string bracelet on her wrist, woven with a pearl at its center, emanating a rosy luster.
Lu Jing set down his phone and, propping his hands on the desk, leaned forward.
“Teacher, did you see anybody before you came here?”
Suddenly confronted, Fang Yuan jumped with fright, her pen slipping from her fingers, clattering onto the floor with a “click.”
“What?”
Fang Yuan’s voice trembled ever so slightly.
Lu Jing cracked a smile, resettled back into his chair, and resting his chin on his hands, he watched her with an eerie gaze.
“Just asking.”
Fang Yuan’s skin prickled with goosebumps, feeling a chill in her heart. Despite having taught for quite a while, she could never get used to Lu Jing’s unsettling personality and actions. Even Lu Yuan admitted his brother was inherently flawed, but… it was too strange.
Sometimes, the feeling Lu Jing gave her was far from that of a child, an unexplainable weirdness.
Dressed in a black and white short-sleeved shirt, his delicate and pretty face was adorned with a pair of silver-framed glasses that he did not actually need; wearing them seemed to be purely for fashion.
“Actually, I know whom you’ve met.”
Lu Jing suddenly said with a smile.
While his face bore a smile, the tone of his voice carried an ominous chill, brushing past like a cool breeze.
Fang Yuan shuddered, the alarm bells ringing; Lu Jing knew who she had seen. How could that be possible?
Could he be surveilling her?
“What do you mean?”
Lu Jing enjoyed her astonishment and fear, idly spinning the game console in his hand, and replied with an irrelevant question.
“Teacher, you dropped your pen. Aren’t you going to pick it up?”
Fang Yuan swallowed hard, slowly stood up, bent down to pick up the pen from where she crouched beside the chair, and during the process, her heartbeat accelerated uncontrollably. She was genuinely afraid that Lu Jing might suddenly do something startling.
Lu Jing watched her terrified appearance and laughed happily, “Teacher, I have no interest in surveilling you. Someone else is doing that.”
“Like my brother, don’t you suspect him?”
“Teacher, do you really want to become my sister-in-law?”
Lu Jing’s thoughts jumped in a way Fang Yuan couldn’t keep up with; she tensed her jaw, her hand already unconsciously clenching.
“What are you talking about?”
“Sigh, this is really boring,” Lu Jing stood up, glanced at the red-stringed pearl bracelet on Fang Yuan’s wrist, stretched both hands upwards, “Young Master is tired. Class dismissed.”
Fang Yuan watched Lu Jing’s retreating figure, sat back down on the chair and slowly released a breath of relief, quickly gathering the items on her desk into her bag. Initially, she wanted to wait for Lu Yuan, but now she just wanted to leave.
As soon as she got to the door, Fang Yuan saw Lu Yuan’s car pull up in front of her.
The servant ran over to open the car door, and Lu Yuan got out, wearing a dress shirt and suit pants, a coat hanging on his elbow, elegant and slow, stepping towards her.
Fang Yuan looked at him and instantly felt an overwhelming sense of grievance.
Lu Yuan approached her, reached out to caress her face, “Did Lu Jing bully you again?”
Fang Yuan shook her head, her eyes involuntarily reddening.
Lu Yuan bent down, grabbed her hand forcefully, and pulled her into the house, telling the butler, “Call Lu Jing down for me.”
“Yes.”
Seeing this, Fang Yuan quickly grabbed Lu Yuan’s hand, “It really has nothing to do with Lu Jing. It’s me; I’m just frustrated with my studies, it’s unrelated to anyone else.”
Lu Yuan continued walking without pausing, tossed his coat onto the sofa, turned around to take a seat, and pulled Fang Yuan down to sit next to him.
“You don’t need to say anything, let him come down and explain for himself.”
“You’re mine, even if he is my brother, he can’t be unreasonable. Yuanyuan, I’ve told you, with me, you don’t have to be wronged; I’ll take care of everything.”
Lu Yuan held her hand, earnestly whispering sweet nothings, then suddenly noticed the pearl bracelet on Fang Yuan’s wrist; his brown eyes under the glasses narrowed slightly.

Fang Yuan pursed her lips, a wave of emotion flooding her heart, her guard completely overtaken by Lu Yuan. She liked him, needed him, never before had she been so clear about her own feelings.
“Lu Yuan…”
Lu Yuan forced his gaze away from the bracelet, reached out to embrace Fang Yuan, gently patting her back, and said in a low voice.
“I saw your message.”
“You don’t have to say anything. I understand. I’ll stay with you tonight and take you back to school in the morning.”
Fang Yuan nodded, followed the housekeeper upstairs, and Lu Yuan, undoing his collar button, asked the maid standing by.
“Where is he?”
The maid replied respectfully, “Young Master, the Second Young Master is in the gaming room.”
Lu Yuan took off his glasses, tossing them onto the coffee table with a cold expression, and instructed the maid to do something. After she obliged, he turned and headed upstairs.
