Lu Yichen and Zhong Nianyao quietly sat in their seats, the two appearing somewhat nonchalant. However, in reality, both maintained the highest level of vigilance, ready at any moment to face whatever emergencies might ensue.
Surprisingly, the flight remained peaceful throughout, with no incidents occurring.
As the plane was about to land, Zhong Nianyao’s expression grew ever more solemn instead of relieved. She was certain she wasn’t mistaken; the closer the plane got to its destination, the thicker the aura of death she sensed from those around her became.
Just when the plane was about to land, it suddenly jolted.
The passengers were startled but didn’t take it too seriously. After all, it’s not uncommon for a plane flying at tens of thousands of meters high to encounter turbulence.
What no one expected was that, after the plane had stabilized, several people seated at the back of the economy class suddenly pulled out guns and took everyone in the economy class hostage.
Soon, the door between first class and economy was flung open. Two armed hijackers walked in, pointing their guns at everyone present, and spoke harshly, “This plane is now under our control. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll cooperate. If not—”
Here, he let out a cold laugh before continuing, “The gun in my hand doesn’t spare anyone. If a stray bullet hits or kills someone, well, that’s just your own bad luck.”
The unexpected hijacking caused pandemonium on the plane. Many passengers began crying and screaming, some even trying to escape.
The cabin became chaotic until one passenger was hit by a bullet and fell, their condition unknown, which quieted the others down.
The plane’s PA system then broadcasted a message. This time, however, it was not from the crew but one of the hijackers. His voice echoed in the cabin, adding a new layer of panic among the passengers.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this plane is now under our control. Don’t worry, our demands are simple. We just want to negotiate with the federal government for the release of a few individuals. As long as the government cooperates, you’ll all return home safely. Otherwise—”
Though he didn’t finish his sentence, the implication was clear. If the government didn’t cooperate, the fate of everyone on the plane wasn’t going to be pleasant.
Many couldn’t help but sob softly, too afraid to make any louder noises. They feared drawing the hijackers’ attention and risking their lives.
In the cockpit—
The captain was controlling the plane while the co-pilot lay bleeding in his seat, hardly distinguishable from a dead man save for the faint rise and fall of his chest.
Behind them, another person, holding a handgun, pointed it at the captain, “Now, redirect the plane towards the Middle East. Or else, I’ll kill you right here.”
“This… it’s impossible,” the captain, trying to subdue his fear, spoke up, “Not to mention that the plane doesn’t have enough fuel to make it to the Middle East. More importantly, our flight path is predetermined. Changing course abruptly now could result in a collision with another plane.”
Hearing the captain, the hijacker wasn’t at all intimidated; on the contrary, he seemed excited, “If you don’t change the flight path to the Middle East, there’s no need to wait for a collision—I can kill you right now.”
The captain swallowed hard, desperately keeping the plane on its course to prevent any deviations, while attempting to contact the control tower, hoping for quick clearance to change direction.
Despite his efforts, the captain was already resigned to the worst outcome, also due to another critical detail—the plane’s fuel.
He had already explained this to the hijacker, who evidently wasn’t listening.
More so, based on the hijacker forcing the captain to contact the tower about the government releasing people, he surmised that this was no ordinary hijacking. The culprits were international terrorists.
In first class—
While other passengers were frantic, Lu Yichen and Zhong Nianyao remained expressionless. Sharing a glance, they understood each other’s intentions.
They now grasped the entirety of the situation.
Their plane had been hijacked by a group of foreign terrorists because of the federal government’s apprehension of some of their leaders last month.
To rescue their leaders, they had now taken the entire plane’s passengers hostage to force the government’s hand.
The door between first class and economy was already closed. Inside economy class, two gunmen remained, looking particularly savage—one bald with a scar cutting across his entire face, striking terror at a glance. The other, a skinny man with no visible scars, still had a gloomy look, eyeing the first-class passengers like a venomous snake, ready to strike.
The bald man’s gaze swept over the passengers, eventually coming to rest on Zhong Nianyao, and an excited smile spread across his face, “Look what I’ve found, a stunning beauty hidden here! Today’s really been worth it!”
With that, he rubbed his hands together, chuckling as he approached Zhong Nianyao.
These men had tied their lives to the cause when they joined the terrorist organization, knowing any day could be their last. Thus, they lived by a philosophy of enjoying the moment.
Seeing Zhong Nianyao, such an exquisite beauty, he obviously wasn’t going to let her slip away.
Baldy quickly reached Zhong Nianyao, his admiration deepening. Then, reaching out, he aimed to caress her face.
