Chapter 167 -4: Followers of the Great Mysterium Sect_2
The Thunderhorse Knight did not wish to waste words with the other party; he knew that it would be nearly impossible to persuade such fanatical religious followers through ordinary language. To purify magic with sacred fire, only by using thunderous means to completely deprive the opponent of the capital to resist, could he make them truly submit.
“Sir Knight, I think you might be overstepping your boundaries,” the man dressed in black to the right said with a smile that was not a smile, “Whether we are practitioners of the Dark Arts is none of your concern. As for what we believe in, that’s even more our own freedom. There are many under the sun who do not believe in your Church of Light. Can you kill them all?” He scoffed, “If that’s the case, doesn’t the Church of Light seem a bit too overbearing? Is this the equality, love, and tolerance that you misinterpret?”
“Hmph, no matter how eloquent you are, the honor of the Church of Light is not something that people of darkness like you can slander. Both of you, just come with me quietly. I hope that the God of Light will strip away the hearts you’ve shrouded in darkness and evil.”
The Thunderhorse Knight gazed steadfastly at them, his carefree manner suggesting that he did not take the situation before him seriously at all.
“What if we do not wish to go with you?” the one on the left asked, voice laced with mockery, “We have our own affairs in Caucasus, surely we can’t abandon our own matters just because of a single word from you and follow you to confess?”
“Presumptuous!” Knight Jep’s face flashed with anger. He could hear the wildness and mockery in the other party’s words, signifying utter disregard for his authority. Even though the two before him were by no means simple, Jep had made up his mind that he could not tolerate such arrogance.
“If you two are not willing to cooperate with my invitation, then I’m afraid I’ll have to resort to a less pleasant method to invite you.”
“Oh, is that so? We would be very interested to see what kind of unpleasant way Sir Knight plans to treat us with.” As their words fell, the two men in black moved with a special posture, drifting back several steps as though startled swans—a clear precaution against a surprise attack from their opponent.
“Heh, the mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind; you bring shame upon yourselves!” Knight Jep’s form surged forth, pouncing towards the man in black on the left. However, he soon met resistance; a sudden burst of black mist emanated from the other’s sleeves, and the space in front of him twisted strangely. Jep could even see the altered silhouette of his opponent through this distorted space.
“Dark Binding!”
His body unbelievably pivoted, refracting to barely dodge the extremely insidious and deadly attack. Knight Jep no longer dared to underestimate the opponents. The ease with which they unleashed “Dark Binding,” a spell of shadowy nature, would have been unavoidable without his keen reflexes and extensive training in martial arts. His comrades from the Knights regiment might not have been able to evade such a sudden and unexpected killing move.
“Dark Binding” was not an extremely vicious spell; it was merely that once a knight of the Church of Light was struck by such contradictory magic, many of the spells that relied on Light magic power would become essentially unusable.
Although this shadowy spell didn’t cause much physical harm, it greatly restricted the use of magic power from opposing spells, making it an excellent tactic for practitioners of Dark Magic against those who cultivate with Light Series magic.
Jep was prepared, yet he had not expected his opponents to cast the spell so cleanly; he had not even sensed the fluctuation of magic power when the spell was cast.

Having dodged the obstruction of “Dark Binding,” Jep had no mercy in his heart anymore. With his Knight Longsword in hand, he drew a striking arc of light, cleaving through all in front, smoothly slicing the body of the man in black in two.
However, Jep immediately realized something was amiss; the floating feeling as the sword light passed through the body of the man in black made it clear to Jep that this was an illusion cast by his opponent. At this moment, the other man in black flicked and plucked his fingers, conjuring another wave of magic in the air, the chill biting.
“Shadow Arrow!” Innumerable greyish shadows that seemed almost visible took form in the air, the water elements in the atmosphere rapidly coalescing and bursting forth, directly assaulting the knight mid-spin in the air.
The Ice Magic seemed to lower the heat of the entire space by several degrees, so cold that it made one tremble. The bursting arrow shadows screeched sharply, like tangible arrows howling, causing Knight Jep’s heart to secretly shudder.
A faint, wave-like Light Shield quickly surfaced around Jep’s body. Without hesitation, he charged forward to meet the assault. The arrow shadows struck the shimmery Fighting Qi with a loud explosion, dimming the Shield’s color, but it ultimately held firm. Seizing the opportunity, the Thunderhorse Knight leapt forward, raising his long sword and unleashing a torrent of Sword Qi that swept across like a bursting river.
“Ah!” The black-robed figure, who had cast the Ice Magic, obviously did not anticipate his opponent charging straight at him without even attempting to dodge. The overwhelming Sword Qi instantly filled the space, leaving no time for protective spells and scarcely a chance to withstand such a fierce physical attack.
But the black-robed figure was no ordinary foe. With a fierce stomp, the solid earth suddenly revealed a large depression. In an instant, a cloud of mud enveloped the figure, who vanished without a trace. Sword Qi carved furrows across the churned earth as a slightly raised trail quickly moved away from the depression towards the distant bushes, nearly disappearing from sight.
Once again, Jep was surprised. He hadn’t expected to encounter two Great Mysterium Devotees, both of exceptional skill, who wielded Elemental Magic with such ease.
Ice Magic wasn’t surprising. Mages who practiced Dark Magic learning a trick or two of other Elemental Magics was normal, but this Evasion Spell was a matchless technique of Earth Magic designed for evasion.
Even though it wasn’t perfected in this individual’s hands, a Great Mysterium Devotee who could employ Ice Magic and also adeptly execute earth-based evasion tactics was enough to alarm Knight Jep about the strength of the Great Mysterium Sect.
The appearance of such a skilled figure in the secluded lands of Caucasus was even more unsettling, leading one to question their intentions.
Whether it was sighs or surprise, it did not affect the Thunderhorse Knight’s judgement and ensuing attacks. The previous figure had used illusion to escape without a trace, and now this one had pulled the same trick under his very nose. If he didn’t teach them a lesson, they’d likely mock the Church of Light for being unguarded.
Jep surged forward, stepping on air. His right hand’s Sword Qi flared up again, consecutively configuring three cross-shaped restraints. Six silver-white Sword Qi detached from the blade, hurtling towards the ground, aiming exactly where the Great Mysterium Devotee was fleeing. His left hand was not idle either, as countless lustrous Light Balls formed in his palm, one after another, which he then launched in an arc. They enveloped the swiftly moving mound of earth.
A series of explosive sounds rang out on the ground, shaking the land violently as Jep had intended. The raised mound of earth shifted directions under the assault of the Chain Bead Light Ball Technique, evidently looking for a better way to escape, but this could not avoid the damage caused by the explosive tremors.
Jep clearly saw the mound of earth tremble several times, a sure sign that his Light Ball explosions had inflicted significant damage. Still, he had to admire the adversary’s bravery to continue pushing through to the bushes under such circumstances.
Clearly, the escapee had chosen this direction before fleeing. Persisting with this technique while injured was risky—any lapse could result in being buried alive in the mud, with no possibility of escape. This was the most dangerous aspect of earth-based Evasion Spells.
Even though his long sword was sheathed, the Thunderhorse Knight’s right hand still firmly grasped the hilt. Jep’s sharp gaze searched the surroundings. A thread of Spiritual Sense quickly swept across the ground. The earth returned to its state of calm.
After a while, Jep let out a sigh. It seemed that both individuals had finally slipped from his grasp. He had hoped to capture at least one, but they managed to escape using Earth Magic. It appeared he had underestimated them.
Heavy and hurried footsteps accompanied by several sharp whistles resonated in the distance. Jep knew without guessing that it was the sound of the Patrol Guard belonging to the Caucasus Lord, seemingly efficient to have noticed the disturbance so quickly. But arriving late as usual meant they were inevitably one step behind him. Shrugging, he stepped lightly and disappeared at the edge of the forest.
