The Vastness of Magical Destiny-Chapter 195 - 2 - The Trios Journey_2

Chapter 195 -2 – The Trio’s Journey_2
As the Volt Mountain Range stretched for hundreds of miles, reaching the sea, the paths and memories of the hunters and fugitives greatly differed, resulting in inconsistent maps. Hence, adventurers had to purchase multiple maps at once, in order to more accurately ascertain their bearings during exploration.
The large influx of adventurers posed a serious security challenge to Caucasus. Baron Komer had no choice but to dispatch two hundred-member squads of the Lord’s Guard, led by Ilot, to be stationed in Mattdam.
Similarly, Santiago faced the same pressure. Baoling led a hundred-member squad of guard soldiers to temporarily station in Santiago, to prevent conflicts between the local fierce Half-Beastmen residents and the adventurers from afar.
It must be said that the sight of well-equipped Half-beastman Guards was a shock to adventurers from other lands, who had never before seen a military unit composed mainly of Half-Beastmen within a Mortal-controlled area, especially since this was the territory of The Kingdom of Nicosia.

After all, the Mortals of The Kingdom of Nicosia had always been proudly aloof, finding it difficult to coexist peacefully with other races. Although the Homer region was more relaxed, no one expected Caucasus to be this open.
A medium-sized ship bearing the Lily Mark slowly entered the expanding Mattdam Port. Its dark hull was clearly made from the finest black cypress wood, and on the mast flew high the Lily Flag with a golden double-headed eagle banner above it. That was the exclusive insignia of the Romanov family from the royal family of Nicosia, and only heirs with royal blood were entitled to fly such a banner.
The pilot, an old hand at this, saluted with the most respectful flag signal and quickly signaled that the ship might dock at the seventh berth of the third row of docks. This was a berth reserved for honoring distinguished guests, a privilege no one had enjoyed since the opening of Mattdam Port.
The ship approached the shore slowly and steadily, appearing even more stable as it neared. As the iron anchor splashed into the water, the hull gently touched the shore, where port staff, already on the dock, took the mooring lines thrown from the deck and secured the vessel to the special stone posts on the shore with all their might.
Although it was not clear who the passengers on the ship actually were, the experienced port staff knew that on this land, no one would dare impersonate the members of the Royal Family or the Duke’s family. However, he was also puzzled since he hadn’t received any notice from Ugru, and there were no officials from the Lord’s Mansion on the dock to welcome them.
Comfortably reclining on a lounger in front of the window, the handsome young man with a slightly pale face seemed to have gained a deeper countenance since more than half a year ago, and he looked out the window with a complex gaze in his eyes.
“Renta, look, is this what they call the barren Wilderness?” His gaze wandered aimlessly along the shore; the young man, deep in thought, propped his chin with one hand and nodded slightly. “It seems that rumors are indeed fearsome. The people of Cyprus have maligned Baron Komer to worthlessness, as if he were a debauched scoundrel, indulging in excess. But look at all this before us. I heard that just six months ago, this was a small fishing village with only a couple of thousand people. Tsk, tsk, if a small fishing village looks like this, the taste of the Homer People must be too exquisite. Perhaps, in their eyes, Jazair is nothing more than a town, ha-ha-ha!”
The laugh, devoid of much sentimental meaning, did not affect the girl sitting opposite him. More of her attention was on every plant and tree on the shore.
The orderly docks and ship berths were all built with neatly arranged large bluestones, and the row of stone pillars for mooring ropes along the shore seemed quite new, probably erected only recently.
A lone stone house on the dock looked isolated, with the nearest other buildings at least five hundred meters away—a row of warehouses, presumably belonging to the port’s storage area.
Across from the warehouses, buildings of various styles were likely the mansions of the traders, with the exquisite courtyards from the southern Florentine style and three-story Tudor-style houses with stone below and wood above scattered throughout the residential district across the street from the storage area.
And six months ago, this place was a blank slate with at most a few dilapidated wooden houses scattered haphazardly around.
The solitary building abruptly towering in the middle of the dock square drew particular attention, and a tall flagpole in front of it, at least thirty meters in length, was made from a whole Black cypress tree. A wide banner at the top of the flagpole fluttered in the sea breeze. The fearsome and realistic Bear head embroidered on the banner was striking.
“Oh, what’s that?” The girl quickly spotted the target. The emblem on the flagpole immediately intrigued her. “That doesn’t seem to be the Reese Family’s crest. If I remember correctly, the Reese Family’s insignia should be a white rose.”
Confident in her memory, the girl was faced with the reality that as Komer’s domain, it was impossible for him to fly another family’s crest above this dock, which represented the face of Caucasus to the outside world. Moreover, the Bear head, though imposing, was not something she had any recollection of; it was surely not a symbol of any well-known noble family within the kingdom.
