Chapter 125: Chapter 125: Ian Loves Mommy the Most

"Time to get up, kids. We have a mission to do," Naomi Kenway called out.

Carina Sanders was the first to wake up. Her hair was a little messy as she sleepily hugged Naomi Kenway and nuzzled against her affectionately.

Naomi Kenway hugged her back and smiled. "Are you awake, Carina?"

"I’m still a little sleepy..." Carina Sanders struggled to keep her eyes open, and suddenly, her eyes started to redden. "I miss my mommy..."

Naomi Kenway gently patted her on the back to soothe her. "Your mommy will be back tonight."

Carina Sanders nodded, but she didn’t seem very enthusiastic.

"Your mom is working hard on her mission, and Auntie believes Carina can complete her mission perfectly too, right?"

Carina Sanders nodded vigorously, looking much more awake.

A soft sensation on her shoulder made Naomi Kenway look over. She saw the back of Ian’s round little head. Ian had stood up on the bed to wrap his arms around Naomi, burying his cheek in her shoulder. His voice was still sweet and childish, but it held a slight pout.

"Mommy, why aren’t you hugging Ian?"

"Ian wants a hug too. I want Mommy to hug me..."

Naomi Kenway quickly extended her arms and pulled Ian into her embrace as well.

Enveloped in the gentle hug, Ian stopped being fussy.

Nathan Lynch sat to the side, looking a bit hesitant. Still, he reached out his hands yearningly, a look of longing in his eyes. "Mona wants one too..."

Not knowing whether to laugh or cry, Naomi Kenway hugged Nathan Lynch as well. But after just a moment, her arms began to ache from the strain.

[None of these kids get grumpy in the morning! They’re so much more obedient right after waking up. Each one is just so soft and adorable. Especially Mona. He usually doesn’t let anyone hug him, but it’s like waking up has completely tamed him.]

[Ian is so possessive of his mom! He got jealous the instant he saw Naomi Kenway hugging the other kids.]

[Such cute kids! I wish I could body-swap with Naomi Kenway just to hug these little human cubs.]

[Ahhhhh, Ian is so cute! I want to plant a kiss on his soft little cheek!!]

...

A faint snore could still be heard. Jared Woods rolled over, still sound asleep, mumbling something softly. You could faintly make out the names of some foods.

Sitting beside him, Simon Sawyer spread his hands like a little adult, his face full of helplessness. "He just won’t wake up."

Nathan Lynch smacked Jared Woods on the butt. The slap made a crisp sound, but Jared Woods didn’t react.

Carina Sanders’s expression turned to terror. She pulled Ian Shaw back a little and said, "Jared Woods... is he... is he dead? That’s what happens in the TV shows I watch!"

The other children grew fearful as well.

Ian Shaw suddenly spoke up. "Jared Woods isn’t dead. He’s still snoring, and he’s still breathing."

"Oh, right." Carina Sanders said with a look of pure adoration, "Little brother Ian, you’re amazing!"

A look of admiration also appeared in Nathan Lynch’s eyes as he looked at Ian Shaw. ’Mom always says Ian Shaw is dumb and gets bad grades,’ he thought, ’but I think Ian is amazing. He knows so many things we don’t.’

Naomi Kenway called out, "Breakfast is ready! The little sleepyheads who wake up late won’t get any food!"

"Food... where’s the food...?"

Jared Woods shot up from the bed, his eyes darting around.

[I’m dying of laughter. The word ’eat’ is the one hurdle Jared Woods will never overcome in his life!]

[Naomi Kenway took him down in one move! Nicely done!]

Naomi Kenway laughed out loud. "We just ate less than two hours ago, and you’re hungry again already? Get up quickly, Jared. Look, all the other kids are almost ready."

Jared Woods was pretty useless when it came to life skills. He was almost six but still hadn’t learned how to put on his own shoes, sitting dazed on the bed and spacing out.

Naomi Kenway helped him put on his shoes. "You need to learn how to do this yourself."

Jared Woods hopped off the bed. "My mommy helps me put on my shoes. I don’t need to learn. My mommy loves me the most!"

Naomi Kenway didn’t feel it was her place to comment on Chelsea Raines’s parenting philosophy. She lifted Ian off the bed and said, "Alright, we’re going to do our mission now. Let’s head to Uncle Warren’s orchard to pick fruits and vegetables!"

*

Uncle Warren’s orchard was vast. The fruit orchard and the vegetable patch were close to each other, and there was a rich variety of produce.

"I don’t have much to offer, but if you get tired, just take a break. Feel free to eat any of the fruit here!" Uncle Warren, wearing a sun hat, handed each of the children a perfectly ripe, red peach. Naomi Kenway got one too.

"Thank you, Grandpa Warren!" the children shouted in unison.

Naomi Kenway handed the small bamboo baskets prepared by the production team to the little guests, one for each of them. "This is our mission. Grandpa Warren is getting older, so we need to help him pick fruits and vegetables. Everyone, don’t run too far, and be careful when you’re picking so you don’t damage the fruit, okay?"

"No problem!" Carina Sanders shouted supportively, and the next moment, she ran to the tomato vines up ahead and started picking tomatoes.

The children all sprang into action, and Naomi Kenway slung a basket over her arm and went in as well.

Besides picking fruit, Naomi Kenway was paying more attention to the children’s whereabouts. After all, Jared Woods had already run off once that morning.

"Mommy!"

Naomi Kenway turned around to see Ian Shaw running happily toward her. He presented his open palm as if showing off a treasure. In his fair, tender palm was a strawberry a whole size bigger than his hand. "Mommy, Ian found the biggest strawberry! It’s for you!"

Naomi Kenway took it from his hand. The once "huge" strawberry didn’t seem so big in her hand, but Naomi’s heart still melted completely.

Naomi Kenway crouched down and held the strawberry to Ian Shaw’s lips. "It really is a huge strawberry. You should eat it, Ian."

Ian stubbornly shook his head. He held Naomi Kenway’s wrist and pushed it toward her. His voice was childish, but it was full of earnestness and determination. "Mommy eat. Ian doesn’t want it. It’s for Mommy to eat..."

Naomi Kenway had no choice but to eat the strawberry. She cupped Ian’s face and gave him two kisses. "You’re such a good boy to Mommy."

Dimples appeared on Ian Shaw’s soft, fair cheeks. His smile was sweeter than honey, and his clear eyes sparkled brightly.

He leaned in and planted a sweet, soft kiss on Naomi Kenway’s cheek too.

"Ian loves Mommy the most~~"

"Are you hot?" Naomi Kenway adjusted Ian’s baseball cap, then reached out to feel his arm. She was relieved to find that he wasn’t too warm.

Ian Shaw shook his head, his big, round eyes dark and glistening like grapes.

"Jared Woods, are you still sneaking snacks?"

Carina Sanders smacked Jared Woods, who was squatting in the strawberry patch, and said with her hands on her hips.

The strawberries at this time of year were the sweetest, and Jared Woods simply couldn’t stop eating them.

He jerked his head around as if startled, trying to cover his tracks by wiping the bright red strawberry juice from the corner of his mouth.

"I didn’t..."

Naomi Kenway made a round and found that Jared Woods’s basket had the least produce in it—just a couple of tomatoes. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

"Jared, why are you so slow?"

Carina Sanders tattled from the side, "He’s been sneaking snacks the whole time! I tried to tell him to stop, but he wouldn’t listen!"
