Chapter 337: Chapter 337: The Most Famous Shaw Family in Veridia

Nathaniel Lynch frowned, thinking. If he recalled correctly, Naomi Kenway’s husband was a Shaw—Ethan Shaw.

"What? Bro, you know that nouveau riche?" Nathaniel Lynch sneered, then started ranting. "I was on a show with him before. The guy’s such a poser, always acting all high and mighty. And that watch on his wrist? Who knows if it was real, but I bet it was fake. Judging by how whipped he looks, he can’t be that rich. Seriously, what a joke. Showing up to a program wearing a fake watch... He’s got some nerve."

Nathaniel Lynch frowned. "Why didn’t I expose him right then and there? His fake watch was so convincing, it even fooled me at first."

"That’s enough." His older brother’s voice, tinged with a rare severity, cut him off. "You didn’t actually offend the man, did you? Have you forgotten who Ethan Shaw is?"

Hearing the stern voice on the other end, Nathaniel Lynch instinctively sat up straight. Whenever he’d messed up in the past, his older brother would use this exact tone to lecture him.

"He’s just some nouveau riche, isn’t he? There are a bunch of Shaw families in Veridia; how am I supposed to keep them all straight?" Nathaniel Lynch’s voice dripped with impatience. "I don’t give a damn which ’Shaw’ or which ’Ethan’ he is. He crossed me, so it’s his own damn fault. And his wife is a total pain in the ass, too." Thinking of his recent spat with Renee Jennings, his expression turned even colder. "I wasn’t planning to do anything to them, but she just had to stick her nose where it didn’t belong. You provoke me, you pay the price. Did she really think I wouldn’t lose my temper?!"

When Nathaniel Lynch finished, he noticed his brother on the other end was silent and couldn’t help but ask,

"Bro? You there? Is the connection bad?"

His brother sighed on the other end of the line. "You really are a blockhead," he scolded. "How can you be so clueless when it comes to something this important?!"

Nathaniel was completely baffled by the rebuke. "What did I do? Bro, why are you saying that?"

"The most prominent Shaw Family in Veridia... The Shaw Family your sister-in-law and I visit with gifts every single year... You really have no recollection of them at all?"

A sense of dread began to creep into Nathaniel Lynch’s heart.

"You might not know Ethan Shaw, but you must know his father, Jonathan Shaw, right?"

THUD. Nathaniel Lynch slid right out of his chair. The director beside him gasped and rushed to help him back up. "Best Actor Lynch, are you okay? Is it your leg? Should I get a doctor?"

Nathaniel Lynch waved him away, indicating he was fine. He clutched his phone in disbelief, his heart pounding so hard it felt like it was about to hammer its way out of his chest.

Still reeling, Nathaniel shakily raised the phone to his ear. His voice was faint. "Bro..."

"I just heard a loud bang. What was that? Nathaniel, are you alright?"

Nathaniel Lynch muttered to himself, "’Jonathan Shaw... So that was Ethan Shaw. That was *the* Ethan Shaw...’"

Nathaniel Lynch gritted his teeth, his mind reeling with shock and panic. He was far from unfamiliar with the name Ethan Shaw; in fact, it was legendary. A junior, several years younger than him, who had demonstrated astonishing talent and drive in the business world, to the point of utterly crushing even his own brilliant older brother.

Nathaniel had been steeped in the entertainment industry for so long that he’d stopped paying attention to his family’s business affairs. Besides, Ethan Shaw was notoriously low-key. Who would have ever guessed that he would appear on a variety show with his wife? Who could have imagined that *this* Ethan Shaw was *that* Ethan Shaw?

’No wonder he looked vaguely familiar when I first met him.’

His heart filled with regret and remorse, Nathaniel pleaded into the phone in a trembling voice, "Bro, what do I do? What am I going to do...?"

Hearing his pathetic whimpering, his older brother reflexively snapped, "Enough. What’s the point of crying now that it’s come to this? Why are you always such a mess? You never think before you act, and then you come crying to me when you get into trouble."

Nathaniel Lynch didn’t dare to say another word.

"You didn’t offend him, did you?"

Nathaniel Lynch thought for a moment. "Uh... I probably did."

His older brother sighed. "There’s no other choice. I’ll have your sister-in-law take you over to make a formal apology."

Feeling as if he’d just been thrown a lifeline, Nathaniel was instantly relieved. "Okay, okay, good. I’ll wait here for my sister-in-law."

"Wait for what? Get your ass home now!"

Nathaniel Lynch looked at the director, who was watching him with pleading eyes, still hoping for his investment. He knew the current situation was a mess. He nodded slowly.

Due to Nathaniel Lynch’s stormy exit, filming was paused. The rumor was that the director was still in negotiations with him.

The audience was buzzing, their dissatisfaction growing louder.

Before long, the director came over and informed the cast that filming would resume as scheduled. However, Nathaniel Lynch would be absent for the remainder of the episode due to personal reasons, and his parts would be edited out later.

Most of the cast breathed a sigh of relief at Nathaniel Lynch’s departure. His passive-aggressive attitude was simply impossible to like.

Yara Preston couldn’t help but smile. "Did Best Actor Lynch get so mad he just went home? An adult throwing a temper tantrum like a child. Looks like the Lynch Family really spoiled him rotten."

Wayne Wyatt scoffed. "He stormed off with such a show, I thought he was planning some big comeback. I didn’t expect him to just tuck his tail between his legs and run home. It’s for the best. He was just an annoying eyesore."

Naomi Kenway was naturally pleased not to have Nathaniel Lynch hanging around anymore. At the same time, another question popped into her mind. ’He left even at the risk of breaching his contract. Was it because he had a falling out with the director, or did something urgent come up that forced him to leave?’

Without Nathaniel Lynch, the rest of the show’s taping went much more smoothly.

Freed from their team’s "rotten apple," Nathaniel Lynch, the Blue Team’s score improved dramatically. However, it wasn’t enough to turn the tide, and they ultimately had to accept the loser’s punishment: the "Ugly Selfie Challenge."

After filming wrapped up, Naomi Kenway returned home. Ian had already been picked up by their driver and was sitting on the sofa, chatting with Nanny Warren.

Nanny Warren was beaming, her eyes filled with adoration as she looked at Ian.

"Mommy!"

Naomi Kenway smiled and pulled Ian into a hug.

Nanny Warren walked over. "Madam, you’re back."

Naomi Kenway smiled at her. "Thank you for everything, Nanny Warren."

"Oh, please, Madam, don’t say that. It’s my job, after all. Besides, Ian is so adorable, who wouldn’t want to spoil him rotten? At my age, getting to see a sweet child like him running and playing every day... I’m the one who should be thanking you and the Master."

Naomi Kenway helped Ian Shaw finish his homework, and then they went downstairs to the living room to watch cartoons for a while.

A short while later, Ethan Shaw returned. He went upstairs to change his clothes, then came down to join Naomi and Ian on the sofa.

Ever since that night, Ethan Shaw had never brought up the topic again.
