The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 62: Parent-Child Activity—The Parent-Child Race
"We’ve had our fun and games, and now some exercise is essential. Everyone, please follow me to the field, where we’ll begin our third and final activity!"
"Exercise..." Naomi Kenway mumbled, then headed outside.
"Sweetheart, are you excited for the parent-child exercise activity?"
Ian Shaw nodded slowly, then looked up expectantly and asked, "Mommy, Daddy, will you come with Annie to another parent-child activity in the future?"
Naomi Kenway answered without hesitation, "Of course, we can."
Ian Shaw then looked at Ethan Shaw, blinking his big eyes softly. Naomi Kenway looked over as well.
"If I have time..."
Naomi Kenway secretly pinched his wrist. Ethan Shaw shot her a complicated look, but when he turned back to his son’s eager expression, he found he couldn’t refuse.
"I’ll be there."
Ian Shaw was overjoyed. He said happily, "Annie loves Mommy and Daddy the most!"
Ethan Shaw froze for a moment. He had always thought Annie was a reserved and quiet child who would never openly express his love. But now, Annie was actually saying he loved his daddy.
Recalling what Liam Sherman had said, Ethan Shaw suddenly felt a sense of relief, grateful that he had attended the kindergarten’s parent-child activity.
This time, they arrived at a racetrack about a hundred meters long, decorated with colorful little flags. The teacher, Jessica Hilton, was standing by the track.
"Our next activity is a parent-child race. This isn’t a typical relay. Instead, the fathers will need to carry both the mother and the child to complete the race. The top three finishers will receive a special gift we’ve prepared!"
As she spoke, Jessica Hilton held up a prize to show everyone: a beautifully wrapped teddy bear. The brown bear was wearing a tie, and the pads of its paws were pink hearts.
Ian Shaw’s gaze was fixed on it, unable to look away.
Upon hearing the rules, the other families were either confident of victory or shyly bashful, but Naomi Kenway felt a little awkward.
Ethan Shaw scooped up Ian Shaw in one go, then held out his hand to Naomi Kenway. "Come here, Naomi."
"You..." Naomi Kenway took two steps forward.
Seeing Naomi Kenway’s unbearably awkward expression, Ethan Shaw raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit displeased himself. "Why are you avoiding me like the plague? Have I never carried you before?"
In the past, Naomi Kenway couldn’t wait to cling to him. Now that her attitude had done a complete one-eighty, he was the one who felt unsettled.
Ian Shaw also looked over, curious.
"I’m just worried about you, honey. I’m afraid you’ll get tired."
Among the parents around them, there were quite a few burly men with thick waists. Ethan Shaw, by contrast, looked much leaner.
Ethan Shaw let out a soft laugh, but it didn’t sound happy. "Why don’t we try and find out?"
Before Naomi Kenway could react, she was swept into his arms. In her panic, she wrapped her arms around Ethan Shaw’s neck as a cool, unfamiliar fragrance washed over her. It was his scent.
"Mommy!" Ian Shaw snuggled closely against Naomi Kenway.
"Annie..."
Naomi Kenway was pressed extremely close to Ethan Shaw. If she turned her head slightly, she felt like she would touch his face. She shifted back uncomfortably but was only held tighter.
"Don’t move."
Just like that, Ethan Shaw carried Naomi Kenway and Ian Shaw to the starting line.
"You’re too light," he said, then looked down and asked seriously, "Don’t the maids cook for you at home?"
"I don’t eat much."
Naomi Kenway couldn’t understand why Ethan Shaw was being so talkative all of a sudden, so she just gave a perfunctory reply.
Ethan Shaw seemed lost in thought.
Nearby, a couple started to argue.
"Why are you so heavy? I can’t even lift you! How are we supposed to compete? Our son really wants that teddy bear!" the man complained, his tone vicious. "You were so slim and pretty before we got married, but after having a kid, you got fat as a pig. I lose face just taking you out. Which of them, President Warren or President Lee, doesn’t laugh at me?!"
The chastised wife hung her head, her bright red earlobes showing how utterly mortified she was. She reached out and gently tugged the man’s sleeve. "It’s all my fault. Don’t be angry. I’ll go on a diet when we get home. There are so many people here, please, just give me some face..."
The man showed no restraint. His wife’s submission only fueled his arrogant rage. He jabbed a finger thick as a carrot at her. "What face is there to save? I must have had eight lifetimes of bad luck to marry a hag like you!"
The people around them began to criticize and reason with him, but he turned a deaf ear.
Naomi Kenway couldn’t listen anymore. She loathed this kind of scumbag the most.
Naomi Kenway broke free from Ethan Shaw’s arms and walked toward the argument.
When the man saw her, he assumed she was also there to reason with him and immediately started cursing. "I’m yelling at my wife! What’s it got to do with you? I suggest you mind your own damn business!" As he spoke, he flexed his plump hands.
Naomi Kenway gave him a cold look, then opened her arms to the poor woman. The woman in front of her had a normal figure, nowhere near as exaggerated as her husband claimed.
The woman stared at her blankly. "What are you doing...?"
Seeing that the woman didn’t understand her intention, Naomi Kenway bent down and lifted her right up.
The woman cried out in alarm, "Ma’am, you..."
Naomi Kenway held the woman steadily and walked a few circles around the man. Her gaze fell on his beer belly, and she sneered, "See this, you useless fat pig?"
"You!!" The man was enraged and raised his fist to strike, but his hand was caught in mid-air. The man roared, "Are you looking to die?!"
His gaze traveled up and landed on a handsome, refined face with eyes as cold as ice.
The man sneered. He wasn’t afraid of pretty boys like this. But before he could even move, he was kicked to the ground. The sound of a bone cracking rang out, and the man clutched his leg, howling in pain.
The commotion inevitably attracted the teachers and even the principal.
The man cursed, "Do you know who I am? You’re dead! Give me your name! I’ll make sure I destroy you!"
The woman hadn’t expected to get others involved. She quickly opened her mouth to take the blame but was stopped by Naomi Kenway.
"Ethan Shaw."
"Ethan Shaw?" The man repeated the name, feeling more and more that he looked familiar. Suddenly, he remembered something. "Ethan Shaw from InfiniTech?"
"Ethan Shaw from InfiniTech." The usual smile returned to Ethan Shaw’s eyes. He looked down at the man, his tone casual. "You’re welcome to come find me for a cup of tea anytime."
The man’s eyes went wide. He pulled out his phone, and after repeatedly comparing the screen to Ethan Shaw’s face, he clamped his mouth shut and said no more.
Naomi Kenway gently set the woman down. She spoke earnestly, "Your husband’s attitude toward you is atrocious, and even though your son is young, he sides with his father and ignores you. A marriage like this is meaningless."
"Of course, that’s just my suggestion. I wish you happiness."
The woman stared at her, stunned, as tears suddenly welled up in her eyes.
