The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 71: Jared Woods Puts His Mom on Blast
Ian Shaw returned and high-fived Naomi Kenway happily. "Mom, we get to live in the little bamboo house!"
Naomi Kenway was also beaming. "Son, I never thought we’d have such similar taste. We really are mother and son!" she said, then asked, "Ian, why do you like the little bamboo house?" 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Naomi wanted to understand all of her son’s preferences.
To her surprise, Ian answered, "Because Mom likes it!"
Naomi was stunned. "Because I like it?"
Ian nodded vigorously, his eyes shining with anticipation. As if seeking praise, he asked, "Do you like it, Mom?"
"I do." Naomi bent down and pulled Ian into her arms. "You silly boy. I let you go choose because I wanted you to pick a house *you* like. Why did you just go with what I wanted?"
"If Mom likes it, then Ian likes it!"
Naomi smiled, but she didn’t recall saying anything about liking House #4. ’So how did Ian figure it out?’
"Ian, how did you know Mom liked House #4?"
Ian thought for a moment. "I could feel it. Your hand moved up when they said House #4."
’He noticed such a subtle movement?’ Naomi was touched. "You’re such a sweetheart, Ian."
[Who was saying Ian is slow? Seriously, his level of awareness is incredible. What other four-year-old thinks that deeply?]
[OP’s not right. You can’t just equate emotional sensitivity with intelligence, can you?]
[OMG, Naomi and Ian, I’m crying... They’re both so considerate of each other. Their bond is so precious!]
[Ian is so sweet. He’s always thinking of others and never throws a tantrum. But Ian, you’re still just a little kid. This auntie hopes you can be a little more selfish sometimes. I feel like he sometimes tries to please others without realizing it. I just want him to be happy and go after what he really wants!]
[Totally agree with the comment above! But Ian is already way more outgoing than when he first got here. Maybe that’s the whole point of filming *Super Mom*! Hope our baby Ian keeps getting better and better!]
...
The house drawing continued. Jared Woods watched eagerly, but the moment he learned Carina Sanders had drawn the red-tiled brick house, Number Two, which came with rice cakes, he immediately started sulking. He tugged on Chelsea Raines’s clothes and refused to let go. "I want Number Two! Mom, buy me Number Two!"
Chelsea Raines pried his hand off. "Jared, the houses are chosen by drawing lots, not for sale."
"I don’t care! I want Number Two!!" Tears welled up in Jared Woods’s eyes as he started to wail, "I want Number Two, I waaaant it..."
Renee Jennings looked over. "What’s wrong with Jared?"
"He’s determined to make a scene, and I don’t know what to do," Chelsea Raines said, exasperated by Jared’s pestering. On any other day, she would have plucked the stars from the sky for him, but this was a far more difficult situation.
Renee Jennings chided gently, "Jared, you need to behave. Why are you being so naughty? Look, Mona never makes a fuss." She couldn’t help but look proud as she finished.
Jared Woods wiped his tears. "Mona’s a dummy, but I’m not..."
Renee Jennings’s face fell.
Chelsea Raines immediately clamped a hand over Jared’s mouth, sputtering, "No, no, Renee, I swear I didn’t teach him that! He’s just making things up..."
Jared pushed her hand away. "My mommy said Ian is a dummy, that he’s slow and doesn’t react. So Mona, who doesn’t cry, must be a dummy too! And Sean..."
Chelsea Raines looked mortified. This time, she clamped her hand over Jared’s mouth for good, not daring to let him say another word. ’He can’t even apply simple logic to his math problems, so why is he suddenly making all these connections now...’
Naomi Kenway’s lips twisted into a sneer, her eyes turning icy. "Chelsea Raines, it looks like you’ve been giving your son plenty of private tutoring at home."
Ruby Preston also looked on with disapproval. "Children are innocent and impressionable. What on earth are you teaching him all day? You should at least have the decency not to say such things in front of him!"
Chelsea Raines’s face was bright red with embarrassment. She had just offended Renee Jennings, too, so now there was no one to come to her defense.
"Kids say the darndest things! He must have misheard. Our Jared’s memory isn’t very good, so please, don’t take it seriously. Really, don’t..."
Of course, no one believed her flimsy excuse. Chelsea Raines knew she had just managed to offend nearly everyone present.
’At home, she loved to run her mouth, often bad-mouthing the other guests in front of Jared. She never thought her own words would come back to bite her like this.’
[What is this, a primetime soap opera? Jared is a pro at sabotaging his own mom.]
[I used to just think Chelsea Raines was sharp-tongued, but I never realized she was this foul-mouthed. I mean, at the very least, shouldn’t you rein it in around a child? I was wondering where Jared learned all those insults. Turns out, he learned them from her!]
[Seriously? Our Ian is so adorable, how could anyone call him a dummy?]
[That’s it, I’m no longer a fan of Chelsea Raines. Someone who can even bad-mouth a child... I can’t imagine what a trashy person she must be in private.]
...
Jared, completely oblivious to the trouble he’d caused his mother, was still whining, "Mommy, I want House Number Two! I wanna eat the cakes! If you don’t get it for me, you don’t love me!"
Chelsea was getting annoyed but couldn’t bring herself to scold him. "You... If you want the house, go ask for it yourself."
Jared actually did it, trotting over to Margaret Jennings. "Auntie Jennings, I want House Number Two!"
Margaret Jennings looked troubled. "Jared, Carina was the one who picked that house. It’s not my decision to make."
Jared immediately changed his target. But Carina Sanders just snorted. "I’m not trading houses with a bad guy!"
"I’m not a bad guy! My mommy says I’m the cutest kid in the whole world!"
"You’re not cute! You stole Ian’s flowers, and you hit him and called him names!"
"I... I..." Jared stammered. Unable to win the argument, he threw himself on the ground and started rolling around. "AAAAH, you’re bullying me! You’re bullying me! I’m not playing with you anymore!"
Carina took a step back. "Who would want to play with a bad guy anyway?"
Chelsea Raines hurried over to pull him up. "You’re such a handful! How many times have I told you not to get your clothes dirty? I just bought you this outfit, it’s from the new collection!"
Tears and snot were streaming down Jared’s face. He sniffled, then wiped it all on his sleeve. The sight nearly made Chelsea Raines faint with anger.
Margaret Jennings started to feel a little sorry for him. "Carina, maybe we could..."
"No!" Carina said without a moment’s hesitation. "Mom, he’s doing it on purpose! He’s just trying to make you feel sorry for him!"
[Carina’s wearing a princess dress, but she’s acting like a total queen!]
[I absolutely love Carina! She’s so level-headed and independent. Best Actress Jennings did a great job raising her!]
[Well... I heard Best Actress Jennings is always busy with work and that Carina was raised by her grandmother. You can kinda tell their personalities aren’t that similar.]
[A brat like Jared is so annoying. Throwing a tantrum on the floor? I really want to jump through the screen and kick his butt!]
