The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 78: Naomi Kenway Allegedly Filming a Show to Pay Off Her Tycoon Husband’s Debts
"I just went for a walk and found cherry trees up ahead. They’re a bit of a ways off, so I picked a basketful before coming back to tell you. Cherries are the most expensive fruit in the orchard, so picking them to sell will be the most worthwhile. We can grab our baskets and go pick cherries up front."
Ruby Preston’s eyes lit up, and she gave a thumbs-up. "Nicole, you’re the smart one!"
Renee Jennings frowned, staring at Naomi Kenway with a condemning look. "We can’t pay Uncle Foster, and cherries are so expensive. How can you just pick them from his orchard?"
"What about it?" Naomi Kenway pointed at the basket on Renee Jennings’s back. "You think apples and pears are worthless? The production team said we can pick any of the fruit, so I haven’t broken any rules. Don’t you get on your high horse and judge me."
The director chimed in at just the right moment. "No one should feel guilty. The production team will be paying for all the fruit picked from the orchard separately."
Renee Jennings said sullenly, "Oh, so that’s how it is..."
Margaret Jennings dumped her basket, which was full of apples, into the three-wheeled cart, then shouldered the empty basket again. "No time to waste. Let’s go pick cherries!"
All the guests followed Naomi Kenway forward.
After walking for a while, Chelsea Raines stopped to rub her legs. "How is it this far? Let’s just go back to the entrance and pick pears. This walk is killing me." She glanced at Naomi Kenway. "All this effort just for one basket of cherries. I still think it would be better to go back and pick apples."
Naomi Kenway, who had been leading the way, stopped and looked back at her. "Apples go for two a pound, while cherries are twenty to thirty. You tell me—is this walk worth it?"
Chelsea Raines frowned in thought. "There’s that much of a difference? I had no idea. At our house, the maid always washes the fruit and serves it on a platter." Her tone dripped with a baffling sense of superiority as she asked:
"Naomi, you don’t have to work like a maid at home, do you?"
This piqued Renee Jennings’s interest, and she stared intently at Naomi Kenway. ’Everyone says Naomi’s relationship with her husband is terrible. Who would’ve thought? She’s so glamorous in public, but at home, she has to work like a servant.’
Naomi Kenway shot her a cool glance, cutting off her wild speculation. "I looked up the prices online before we came. I had no idea you were so interested in my life."
"Oh, is that so? I was just saying... since we’re all so wealthy, why bother with this kind of manual labor." Chelsea Raines looked incredibly smug. "At home, I’m treated like a queen. I don’t have to lift a finger for anything. Not a single worry in the world..."
Her words seemed to strike a chord with Renee Jennings, who began describing her own life as a wealthy housewife—a life that could only be described as extravagant.
The other guests chatted about their daily lives. When it was Naomi Kenway’s turn, she said flatly, "My life is pretty ordinary. There’s not much to say." Then she pointed ahead. "Here it is! There’s a whole cherry orchard here!"
Plump, crimson cherries hung from lush green branches, many still glistening with dew. The sight alone was enough to make one’s mouth water.
Chelsea Raines scoffed. "Guess she really has nothing worth mentioning."
[Listening to the guests, I’ve confirmed that the lives of the rich are beyond anything a poor person like me could ever imagine! (crying)]
[Isn’t this just naked flaunting?]
[If you were rich, you could flaunt it too. Don’t be so jealous, poster above.]
[Why isn’t Naomi Kenway saying anything? Has her family’s fortune really declined to the point where she’s struggling? No wonder she’s been working so hard on this show. She has to earn her own money now! See, marrying a tycoon is risky. Next thing you know, you’re frantically filming shows to pay off his debts!]
[What is the poster above even talking about? Can’t a person just be private? It’s the people with a little money who can’t wait to paste the three words ’I have money’ on their faces. Which truly rich family isn’t discreet and humble?]
...
As *My Super Mom* became a hit, gossip blogs seized the opportunity to stir up drama. Soon, news of "Naomi Kenway’s Financial Ruin" was climbing the trending topics list.
StrawberryGossipV: Struggling for cash and left out of conversations? Naomi Kenway is allegedly filming a show to pay off her former tycoon husband’s debts. And we’re not just making baseless claims! Our team has worked hard to dig up the details: Naomi Kenway suddenly trying desperately to get attention on the parenting show; Naomi and her son wearing normal, non-designer clothes; and the fact that Naomi’s Weibo page no longer features any flashy posts about her wealth. The pictures tell the story (Photo)(Photo)(Photo).
[I didn’t even notice until the blogger pointed it out, but it’s true that Naomi Kenway hasn’t shown off any of her designer bags or shoes in a while. I just thought she was trying to be more low-key, not that she was broke. Then again, with her flashy personality, there’s no way she wouldn’t show off if she had money.]
[Now that you mention it, that does make sense. I guess Naomi has it pretty tough, going from the accustomed life of a tycoon’s wife back to rags overnight.]
[This isn’t necessarily true, is it? Ever since she got rid of that parasitic agent, Nina hasn’t been deliberately embarrassing herself. She’s much more mature and stable now. She’s just being private. Stop spouting nonsense, gossip blogs!]
[Is this for real? Does everyone remember the "Lindsay Woods Vanishing Act" from a while back? In just half an hour, Lindsay Woods’s accounts and all related search terms were gone. Wiped from the internet. Naomi’s backing is that powerful. There’s no way she could lose it all so quickly, right?]
[You never know. Plenty of tycoons go bankrupt overnight. Business is risky, who can say for sure what will happen!]

"Cousin, since when did you go bankrupt? How come I didn’t know?" Luke Lowell uncrossed his legs, a look of great interest on his face as he held out his phone for Ethan Shaw to see.
Ethan Shaw didn’t reach for it, showing no interest whatsoever.
"Seriously, cousin, take a look! They lay it all out with so-called evidence. Naomi’s working herself to the bone on that show to pay off *your* debts, cousin!"
That got a reaction out of Ethan Shaw. "Naomi?"
Luke Lowell pushed the phone in front of his face so he could get a good look. "See? They even list their ’evidence.’ You’re bankrupt, cousin. Naomi and my little nephew are so broke they can’t even afford designer clothes. I mean, do these people have any sense? Does something have to have a logo slapped on it to be considered expensive?"
Luke Lowell clicked his tongue. "TSK TSK. It’s so easy to start a rumor. These gossip blogs will really publish anything for clicks!"
"Are you going to issue a clarification, cousin? Oh, right. Naomi hasn’t announced your relationship. At most, she’ll just have to endure being attacked by these rumors for a while." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
As he said this, Luke Lowell turned off the phone. ’He knows his cousin all too well. He might seem warm on the surface, but deep down, he’s utterly cold-blooded. He never gets involved in anything that doesn’t directly concern him.’
Ethan Shaw picked up the desk phone. "Liam, come to my office."
"What are you calling Liam over for?"
Three soft knocks sounded at the door.
"Come in."
Liam Sherman entered the office. "President Shaw, you wanted to see me?"
Ethan Shaw placed the phone on the desk. The screen showed the very Weibo post from the gossip blog, the one spreading rumors about Naomi Kenway’s family’s ruin.
