The Villain Mom Awakens — Going Viral by Parenting on a Reality Show-Chapter 81: Rapping to Sell Cherries
Naomi Kenway held the megaphone she had just borrowed and looked ahead. "Hazel, what are you doing here?"
Hazel smiled. "We just rearranged things. I’m here to sell fruit with you."
Naomi didn’t ask further. It didn’t take a genius to figure out what had happened. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Hazel walked over, first glancing at the neatly arranged, beautiful cherries on the stall. They looked mouth-watering. She wondered aloud, "Strange. I can’t believe no one’s buying these!"
Naomi smiled and glanced up. "Didn’t Renee Jennings tell you what happened?"
"She was pretty vague. I didn’t really believe her."
Naomi nodded and continued fiddling with the megaphone.
"Naomi, what are you doing with that megaphone?"
"I’m planning to do a little rap later."
"Rap?"
"I think it’ll attract more customers. I even wrote some lyrics."
Hazel was very surprised. "I had no idea you were good at rapping..."
"I wouldn’t say I’m ’good’ at it. I just do it for fun in my spare time. But... if you’re bold enough to put on a show, you can probably draw a crowd. If it doesn’t work, we’ll think of something else."
There was no sound system, let alone a microphone, so Naomi just picked up the megaphone and started rapping.
Her voice was deep and sultry, each beat seeming to land right in your heart. She ran a hand through her long, wavy hair, looking rebellious and alluring.
’Naomi really is a charismatic person,’ Hazel thought, standing stunned to the side for a long moment.
The lyrics were just something Naomi had made up on the spot, but the rhythmic rap was incredibly catchy. Before long, she had attracted a group of young people.
Naomi handled the rapping while Hazel weighed the fruit and took the money.
The young people were eager to shop; some even bought five pounds at once.
"Miss, I see you guys are recording. Are you a rap artist?" a customer asked curiously as they took their cherries.
Naomi smiled. "It’s just a hobby. I’m no pro."
"You celebrities are so multi-talented!" the person exclaimed before leaving with their cherries.
In just half an hour, all the cherries were sold out. Chelsea Raines hadn’t arrived with the second delivery yet, so Naomi and Hazel sat in front of the stall to rest for a bit.
Some customers who had heard the commotion rushed over, only to be told with regret that they were temporarily out of stock and would have to wait.
Taking advantage of the break, Naomi opened the cash box to count the money.
Hazel sat next to her and asked with a smile, "How much is in there?"
"Three hundred seventy." Naomi closed the cash box. "After Chelsea makes another delivery, that plus the income from Pearl’s side should be enough for our charter bus fee."
Hazel nodded and smiled. "I didn’t expect it to go so smoothly. It’s all thanks to you and your clever ideas, Naomi."
Naomi didn’t dare take all the credit. "No, this was the result of our joint effort."
"I think you have a strong creative and innovative mind. Have you ever considered being a director with me?"
"Thank you, Hazel, but I’m still more interested in acting." When she was little, she would often stare at the glamorous, beautiful actresses on TV. She chose to become an actress because she loved it. Even after her ’awakening’, that passion for performing remained in her heart.
"So you entered the industry out of passion?"
Naomi nodded.
The two of them continued to chat idly.
A moment later, the sound of brakes squealed as Chelsea Raines leaped off a three-wheeled vehicle. Luckily, it wasn’t peak time at the market, so she had managed to squeeze her way in.
Chelsea looked at the empty stall, her face filled with alarm. "Was our fruit stolen? How are we going to get home now!"
Hazel couldn’t help but laugh. "You silly goose. How could the fruit get stolen with us standing right here? It’s all sold out."
"Sold out? So fast?" Chelsea praised. "Renee is amazing... You two are amazing too."
Hazel explained, "Naomi and I sold it all. It’s thanks to Naomi’s rapping that we sold out so quickly."
Chelsea looked like she’d seen a ghost. "Naomi can rap? Isn’t she tone-deaf?"
"I heard it with my own ears. You don’t believe me?"
"No, no, I believe you..." she said, but in her heart, she didn’t believe it at all.
Placing the fruit basket on the stall, Chelsea got back on the vehicle. "I’m going to deliver fruit to Pearl."
After arranging the cherries, Naomi and Hazel once again started their division of labor. Many people were drawn over by the rapping, and then bought several pounds after tasting the cherries and seeing the affordable price. The fruit at their stall was once again snapped up.
"How much are these cherries?"
Chelsea was still sitting in the driver’s seat of the three-wheeler. She turned around and waved her hand. "Not for sale, not for sale! I don’t have a scale. I’m just delivering the fruit."
"If you’re not selling, why are you parked here?"
"None of your business!" After saying this, Chelsea twisted the handlebars and drove off again. ’But all she could think about was, how could Naomi actually know how to rap?’
Naomi and Hazel quickly wrapped things up. Their cash box was bulging, holding 832.
"Naomi, let’s go check on Pearl and Renee."
*
When Naomi and Hazel arrived, they saw Pearl and Renee looking miserable. Chelsea was sitting on the nearby three-wheeler, and she didn’t look much better.
The cherries in front of them were piled high. In fact, there were so many they couldn’t all fit on the stall and were still in their baskets.
They couldn’t sell their fruit at all.
When Pearl saw the two of them arrive, it was like seeing a savior. The last little while had been excruciating, and she finally understood why Naomi had criticized Renee.
"What are you two doing here?"
Renee stood up as well.
"We sold all our cherries, so we came over to help you," Hazel replied.
"Sold out? How is that possible?!" Renee’s face was a mask of astonishment.
Hazel couldn’t understand why both Chelsea and Renee were so shocked. "The money’s in the bag. You want me to take it out and prove it to you?"
"I-I don’t disbelieve you, I’m just..." Renee bit her lip, her face full of indignation. "A little surprised, that’s all."
[Just surprised? The indignation in your eyes is so strong it could drown someone!]
[Renee is hilarious. She’s the one who suggested splitting into groups, and now she’s getting jealous because the other team sold out.]
[Naomi is a true sales genius, an absolute top seller. Ever thought about a new career? Selling on a livestream would suit Naomi perfectly.]
[It doesn’t look like Pearl and Renee’s pile of fruit has changed at all.]
...
Naomi once again pulled the megaphone from her pocket. "The progress here is too slow. Let’s help them out."
Hazel nodded.
Renee was still wondering what Naomi was going to do with the megaphone when, a second later, she saw her expertly break into a rap.
’She’s actually going to perform in the middle of the market?!’
As if she had a superpower, Naomi worked in perfect sync with Hazel, and in no time at all, they had sold off all the stagnant inventory of cherries.
The other three could only watch, dumbfounded.
