The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss-Chapter 155: Authorities [1]
Rustle!
There was a movement on the bed, as the individual sleeping had woken up.
The girl lightly stretched her body before taking off the blanket covering her.
Long brown hair flowed across her shoulders as she tied it in a ponytail.
"Of all things, I had to dream about her."
Sasha chuckled while getting up from the bed.
Amelia had kept talking to her until midnight, leading to her lack of sleep. And that had resulted in her waking up so late in the morning.
Sasha quickly changed into her shorts as she headed to the bathroom to get ready.
Turning on the shower, warm water trickled over her body as Sasha let herself enjoy the feeling. Temporary pleasures like this were the only things that kept her sanity intact in such turbulent times.
Sasha’s body shivered slightly as she remembered the incident that had happened some days before.
But not letting herself fall into depression again, particularly after the efforts from her dear friend to elevate her mood—Sasha couldn’t really disappoint Amelia now, could she?
Sasha had many things to do today, one of them being visiting the authorities.
The incident at the auction house had sparked widespread outrage among the public, and that had led to increased pressure on the authorities from all sides, as even the Royal family had to get involved in the investigation.
Sasha had heard that some of the best elites from among the authorities had been assigned to solve this case.
Though the effectiveness of their capabilities could be questioned, as even after several days, there was no lead in finding the criminals who had attacked the auction house in the Levaith Duchy.
As for the Levaiths, they too had sent their own investigators to work along with the authorities.
Despite all that, Sasha still had no confidence in any of them being able to bring those criminals to justice.
She didn’t know why, but she had this gut feeling that whoever was behind the attack didn’t fear anyone, as could be clearly seen from their courage to raid and kill people without feeling any fear of repercussions that might follow.
And then, there was that person who had nearly raped her...
Sasha could still clearly remember the disgusting sensation of his hands as he had undressed her slowly, taking pleasure in every moment.
The way his hands roamed over her body, slowly making their way to her chest.
Disgusting.
Sasha felt like killing herself every time those thoughts arose in her mind. But her logic stopped her from doing anything of the sort.
She still had a family and a best friend who cared for her.
Sasha couldn’t be selfish enough to hurt them only because living had become difficult for her.
Sometimes she found her thoughts to be a bit too extreme, but then again—maybe they were normal for someone who had gone through what she had to suffer.
Drying her body with a soft towel, Sasha quickly got dressed.
A white crop top with matching jeans. Though the top didn’t reveal any of her skin, it still did enough of a job to showcase her beauty in the best way possible.
Sasha had already let her hair loose, as it freely fell over her back.
She even took the liberty to wear a matching pair of earrings.
"All done."
Sasha looked at herself in the mirror once before packing the necessary stuff in her bag and swung it over her back.
Click.
Locking the door of her room, she quickly made her way down the stairs.
"Oyy Sasha, out again!"
The receptionist called her from behind, as Sasha was just about to turn towards the exit of the lodge that she was staying at.
"Yeah!"
"Selfish girl! Couldn’t you just take a little effort to accompany me for a while? The job gets boring sometimes."
The guy at the reception flashed her a cheeky smile.
"I would love to. It’s just that you will have to pay for my room."
Sasha replied with an equal smile.
"Tsk."
Seeing his attempt fail, the receptionist waved at her, motioning Sasha to quickly leave, to which she abided with a similar wave of her hand.
"That chick’s hot."
"Bro, be careful. The authorities are now everywhere."
"Yeah, fuck those bastards."
Sasha paused for a moment upon hearing the words, but then, slightly shivering, made her way out of the lodge.
Though Sasha wasn’t the most beautiful girl out there, she was close. And that had always led to such comments from the everyday ugly people that she met during her travels.
Normally, she ignored them, like it was a natural thing to do. But now—
Just a mention of anything related to her beauty sent shivers across her spine.
Her trauma was deeper than she had thought.
"Miss, do you need a ride?"
A rough yet polite voice brought Sasha out of her thoughts, as she turned her head to look at an old man sitting in his carriage, looking for customers.
"To Welch Street."
Sasha mentioned her destination before getting into the carriage.
"Hm? That area... Authorities?"
"Yes."
"That would be 2 credits."
"Isn’t that a bit expensive? The street isn’t that far away."
Sasha asked the driver, though she handed him the credits.
"Haha... Miss, you know the current situation. The attack on the auction house has scared many tourists, and even most of the new traders are afraid to invest in this area. Even getting ten customers a day is becoming difficult."
The driver spoke as the carriage moved towards Welch Street.
Sasha just nodded her head as she turned to the side, looking at the line of shops that surrounded the road on both sides.
The city had indeed grown far quieter than before.
Sasha took a deep breath as the anxiety in her chest began to surface again.
Just going outside was making her feel like she was fighting against her eventual demise.
She just hoped that the authorities would take care of the criminals, though she would soon speak to them about the same.
