Chapter 22: Chapter 22: Delicate Weakness

"Can you get a little smaller?"

Selene Kane looked at the two massive males in front of her, speaking with a hint of helplessness.

She rubbed her forehead, her brows slightly furrowed.

Because each of them was so tall and strong that even walking together made the spaceship’s floor creak.

The entire ship seemed to sway slightly.

Moreover, once they shifted into beast form, it seemed like their intelligence decreased.

They glanced at each other, then lowered their heads to begin shrinking, little by little.

Finally, they shrank to just the size that Selene could hold them in her arms.

She gently reached out and stroked their fur.

Selene couldn’t resist petting them a few more times, making the two little tigers so comfortable that their ears nearly drooped.

Looking at the two well-behaved little creatures in her arms, a soft emotion suddenly welled up in her heart, and she couldn’t help but think of Hayden Langdon.

He hadn’t gone out during the day these past few days.

Every night, he would lightly fly to her bedside.

He talked so much like a little bird, chattering on without stopping.

Lady Wynn sat quietly in the corner of the living room, watching her two sons cuddling in Selene’s lap.

Her hand, adorned with lace gloves, gently raised to cover half her face, a smile playing on her lips, her eyes full of laughter.

"It seems they’re doing well, I’m relieved."

The nearby butler tactfully set up a screen in advance, blocking the entrance to the inner room.

Otherwise, Evan Sinclair and Ethan Sinclair would be embarrassed if someone caught sight of them.

Especially when they’ve become small; it’s just too cute and reveals their identities.

After all, in most people’s minds, Beast Husbands have a wild and primal image.

Especially their mothers.

They don’t have too many expectations for their children.

As long as the kids are happy and carefree, that’s enough.

Even if they’re not good at expressing emotions outside.

Looking at such a warm scene, Selene took a handcrafted gift box from her backpack.

The box was small, with two cute tiger head illustrations on the front.

One looked teary-eyed.

The other was laughing with joy.

Upon seeing this, Lady Wynn’s eyes brightened up, almost as delighted as a little girl.

She reached out and received the gift personally.

She gently stroked the illustrations of the little tiger heads.

"This reminds me of when they were young,"

She said softly.

"Back then, they were even more adorable, meowing around me all day, annoying their father immensely."

Seeing the lady absorbed in her memories, Selene felt too embarrassed to interrupt.

Honestly, she wanted to confess.

This was a random drawing she did out of boredom...

The illustrations were arbitrary; the real significance lay inside the box.

But faced with such a scene overflowing with maternal love, she couldn’t say it.

Once it’s opened, she’ll naturally realize the point.

Yet, looking at Lady Wynn’s reaction, her bright eyes were fixated on the two little animal drawings Selene just made.

Selene noticed the change in Lady Wynn’s expression.

"Mom, I’m just glad you like it."

Lady Wynn’s body gave a slight start.

Initially, her eyes were filled with surprise.

"Miss Kane, did... did you just call me ’Mom’?"

She blinked, as if wanting to make sure she hadn’t misheard.

Selene unexpectedly broke those rumors about the Female Master’s eccentricity and difficult nature, and even brought the two rascals to visit on her own initiative.

What shocked her even more was that these two sons, who previously showed her no affection, were willing to shrink themselves down and let her pet their soft fur.

When Selene visited last time, not only was she intimidating.

She frightened the household staff into a frenzy, causing a lot of trouble, making Lady Wynn’s head ache and leaving her exhausted.

This time was totally different, not only bringing a delightful little gift.

But also addressing her as "Mom" openly in front of everyone.

Seeing Lady Wynn’s face full of shock and confusion, Selene couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

She bent down, the sunlight perfectly falling on her.

Her light-colored pupils gleamed in the sunlight.

"Since Evan Sinclair and Ethan Sinclair have chosen me as their partner," she said calmly, "then by ceremony and custom, you are naturally my mother."

Her words carried no deliberate flattery, nor any hint of disrespect.

The two little tigers standing beside could no longer sit quietly.

They took advantage of the crowd’s distraction and discreetly shifted back to human form.

"You, this female, what did you just say? Have you no shame?"

Ethan was the first to jump off the nearby docked ship, taking large strides towards Lady Wynn, glaring at Selene.

"That’s our mom, what’s she got to do with you?"

His face flushed, his emotions were so intense he nearly jumped.

Nervously, Evan also chimed in defiantly: "Don’t think a few pleasant words are enough to please our mom, and for us to forgive you—don’t even count on it!"

"We will never accept a Female Master like you!"

He added harshly.

The two of them argued loudly back and forth, their emotions intense.

The scene was somewhat chaotic.

"No wonder everyone says these two lords aren’t favored by their mother," someone whispered behind their backs, "the way they talk, it’s as if they were frozen silly in the cold palace... really can’t stand it."

"Ayy, their temperament is far too reminiscent of Your Majesty when young, seems they inherited half of it."

And amid this chaos of chatter.

The protagonist of the situation, Selene Kane, remained composed.

"Wow, this female’s temper is truly remarkable, if it were me, if my Beast Husband dared speak to me like this? I’d directly send him to the Female Master’s court for judgement."

"Oh, isn’t that the same thing, after all, they’re young and reckless, but I’m totally different, I care for my Female Master more than anyone, intimately."

As Selene and her entourage walked by, the females whispering in the corners were unaware.

Lady Wynn had overheard their conversations.

Her face slightly showed discomfort, a surge of concealed anger rising within.

Evan Sinclair and Ethan were her sons whom she raised.

She didn’t want outsiders to misunderstand and feel that her two children lacked motherly love.

So she slightly lifted her face, gently tapping her two children, signaling them to step aside.

Then, she turned her gaze to Selene.

"I’m really sorry, these two kids have been spoiled a bit by me, their manner of speech might have made you misunderstand."

She paused, her tone relaxed slightly.

"I get along well with them, and I think they also have a pretty good impression of you."

As soon as the words left her mouth, Ethan immediately couldn’t sit still.
