Chapter 37: Chapter 37: Stay Alive, and Wait for Me

Evangeline’s expression was calm, her gaze open, and her voice clear. "I am not a Fallen Beastman."

Elias Moretti paused, frowning at Evangeline. He stared for a long moment before finally looking away.

’He didn’t really believe this female was a Fallen Beastman, either. After all, no matter how strong the Fallen Beastmen are, they’ve been exiled by The Beast God. They don’t have Witches. And since this female isn’t a Witch, how could she possibly be so powerful?’

Just as Evangeline was about to ask a question, Elias Moretti spoke. "I’ve already thrown Thorne’s Beast Crystal off Thorncliff. It’s probably been devoured by the Fallen Beastmen at the bottom of the cliff by now. Of course, the Thunder Element is rare. Maybe you’ll get lucky. Perhaps the Fallen Beastman who found it feared the crystal’s power, didn’t dare to take the risk, and hasn’t consumed it yet?"

As he spoke, a half-smile played on Elias Moretti’s lips, his voice laced with faint mockery and amusement.

"Thorncliff??" The corner of Evangeline’s mouth twitched. The look she gave Elias Moretti made it clear she wanted nothing more than to slap him twice.

’Just as Thorne predicted.’ Elias had disposed of his Beast Crystal at the first opportunity. He was swift and thorough. Thorncliff was one of The Forbidden Lands of Norfell; no one dared to cross that line.

Evangeline stood up, staring at Elias Moretti, and uttered a curse. "May liars die without an heir."

Elias Moretti raised an eyebrow, a hint of cold cruelty in his expression. He spoke languidly, "I may not be a good person, and I can be quite ruthless, but I always keep my word. I don’t speak nonsense."

Her face impassive, Evangeline turned and walked out.

Seeing her cold expression, Elias Moretti’s pupils contracted sharply. "You’re planning to go to Thorncliff?!"

Evangeline sneered. "What are you pretending for? Didn’t you tell me Thorne’s Beast Crystal was at Thorncliff with this very scheme in mind? You’re afraid of me. Afraid I’ll help Thorne. Afraid I’ll become a stumbling block on your path to becoming leader."

A sudden silence fell behind her, as if the very air had frozen.

Elias Moretti’s sinister laugh rang out. "Thorne really is a lucky one. To gain a female willing to risk life and limb for him at a time like this... How enviable."

Evangeline glanced back, sweeping a disdainful look over him. "Elias Moretti, if you’re lying to me, I’ll kill you with my own hands when I get back."

As the words fell, she was about to leave when Elias Moretti’s voice came from behind her. "The little maiden, if you can make it back from Thorncliff alive, I hope you’ll reconsider my offer. Form a Contract with me. You’ll gain much more!"

Evangeline couldn’t be bothered to respond. With a graceful leap, she vanished, returning to Thorne’s cave.

The moment she returned, Orion’s expression changed inside the cave. He frowned deeply at Thorne, but the latter’s face was impassive, showing no emotional fluctuation, as if he had expected Evangeline to return safe and sound all along.

As Evangeline walked in, Orion stood up, his expression somewhat cold. "Didn’t you go find Elias Moretti?"

’With Elias Moretti’s temper, if someone went to demand Thorne’s Beast Crystal, he might kill them to silence them, but he would never let them return so easily. So, was Thorne right? Is she really one of Elias’s people?’

As the thought crossed his mind, Orion felt an inexplicable sense of displeasure.

With a flick of her wrist, several packets of medicinal powder appeared in Evangeline’s hand. She briskly handed them to Orion, her tone concise yet leaving no room for argument. "This medicine. Apply it to Thorne’s wounds every day."

Orion froze, eyeing Evangeline with suspicion, but he still reached out and took the medicine.

’He was a Six-star Beastman. He wasn’t afraid of any tricks this little maiden might play.’

Evangeline quietly looked at Thorne. He sat there, his expression icy and a deep hostility in his eyes, as if he could devour everything around him.

She strode forward without hesitation, grasped Thorne’s deathly pale chin, and coolly bit him on the lip. In the tone of an overbearing CEO, she said, "Stay alive. Wait for me to come back."

This sudden action made Thorne freeze on the spot.

A moment later, disgust flooded his eyes. But before he could push Evangeline’s hand away, she had already let go and was walking out. Orion’s brow furrowed, and he called out, "You’ve said all this, but where are you going?"

Evangeline didn’t answer. In an instant, she had left the Grymdale Tribe.

"What’s going on? Has she decided to stop wasting her time on you?" Orion said, his gaze unconsciously falling on Thorne’s swollen lips. Thorne was wiping them in disgust, with enough force it looked like he was trying to scrub them off.

Then, he glanced down at the medicine in his hand and grew puzzled again. ’No, that can’t be it.’

Just then, Thorne’s hand, wiping his lips, came to an abrupt halt. His expression sharpened suddenly.

He and Orion exchanged a quick glance, an unspoken understanding passing between them.

Orion’s body tensed, his gaze as sharp as a blade, fixed on the cave entrance. An aura of vigilance and caution radiated from him.

A moment later, a smiling voice drifted in. "Thorne, is this any way to greet your Brother?"

"Elias Moretti! Hand over Thorne’s Beast Crystal!" Orion’s eyes were sharp, his expression severe. His aura surged as he flicked his wrist, accurately tossing the packets of medicine to Thorne.

At the same time, Orion’s fingers curled into a claw, creating a WHOOSHING sound as he lunged straight for Elias Moretti. His Fire Attribute caused the temperature in the cave to soar, the scorching air feeling like boiling lava.

Elias Moretti sneered, unhurriedly raising a hand. The movement seemed casual, yet it concealed a biting power.

In an instant, his palm met Orion’s full-force claw strike with a heavy impact!

A cold glint flashed in Elias Moretti’s eyes as his arm muscles tensed. He then exerted a sudden burst of power, thrusting his arm upward with immense force. A dull BOOM echoed through the air as the impact drove Orion back two steps.

Orion frowned but showed no sign of being flustered. He let out a soft scoff, slowly squeezing a few words through his teeth: "About to become leader, and you’re still holding back?"

Elias Moretti glanced at him and chuckled. "Even among Six-stars, there are stronger and weaker ones. Perfectly normal, isn’t it?"

Orion couldn’t be bothered to waste more words on him. "Where is Thorne’s Beast Crystal?" he asked coldly.

Elias Moretti raised an eyebrow slightly, looking at the silent Thorne. "What, did the little maiden not tell you?"

Seeing Elias Moretti’s pretentious act, Orion’s face flashed with mockery. A wild grin spread across his lips as he let out a disdainful snort. "Why play dumb? Isn’t she one of your people?"

At those words, Elias Moretti paused. His gaze swept over Orion before settling on Thorne.

’In an instant, he understood. After what happened with Evangeline, Thorne is naturally wary of females. It would be hard for him to trust anyone, especially a strange female who just arrived in the Grymdale Tribe.’

’But he actually thinks the little maiden is one of my people?’

A sharp grin tugged at Elias Moretti’s lips, and he burst into a series of shrill, piercing laughs. "Haha, interesting! This is just too interesting!"

He clapped his hands slowly as he laughed, his voice tinged with amusement.

The mockery in his eyes intensified as he spoke mercilessly, "Thorne, when Evangeline dug out your Beast Crystal, did she damage your brain in the process? Because as I recall, Beast Crystals are embedded in the heart."
