Chapter 15 – Ruan Xia shook her head. She was just worried about keeping herself alive. (3)
Although Song Tingshen wasn’t familiar with his wife, he was bound to have some understanding of her character after four years of marriage.
For the time being, he would ignore why they had gotten married. They had already come to a mutual agreement before getting married. Neither party would interfere in the other one’s business, and they had upheld this agreement for the past four years.
She didn’t like children. After their son had been born, she rarely held him and often complained about their son to their nanny.
She told the nanny that her pregnancy and giving birth had ruined her figure. No matter what she did, there was no way her figure would recover to its pre-pregnancy state. She also said that there was no way she would ever have a second child…
She truly didn’t like children. It didn’t take four years for Song Tingshen to see that she didn’t love him or their child.
So, why would she bring their son along to see him?
Not enough money? No, that can’t be it. He had his assistant transfer a large sum of money to her bank account every month. It was a sufficient amount for her to spend lavishly. And, she had never brought up increasing her allowance in the past four years.
Song Tingshen usually wasn’t willing to waste his time thinking about unnecessary people and things. Even though he was puzzled, he decided to not think about it any further. If there was an agenda behind this visit, she would naturally bring it up herself.

Right now, Ruan Xia was feeling extreme regret. Why hadn’t she thought about this before coming here? If there really was a sinister scheme behind Song Tingshen’s death in the novel, wasn’t she sending herself and the kid to death by coming here? Gah, she was going to go blind from crying in regret if that happened.
She promptly made the decision to bring herself and the chubby kid back home. But, when she went on her phone and was about to book plane tickets, she tossed her phone to the side in agitation.
Ruan Xia was in low spirits; she was already in a potentially dangerous situation and torn between two choices. What if this new rash decision would end up with unexpected results too? She wanted to leave, and yet, she felt that doing this would be wrong.
Was it possible to smoothly escape from the plot?
She deeply sighed.
—
That evening, she didn’t have much of an appetite while the family of three were eating together. Her face looked as if the world was going to end tomorrow.
Of course, Song Tingshen noticed this. But, he chose to ignore it. He couldn’t guess what she was thinking, nor did he want to guess. He would wait for her to take the initiative to speak.
However, the chubby kid was worried about his mother. He stretched out his chubby hand to touch her forehead. Looking deeply concerned, he asked, “Mom, are you sick?”
Ruan Xia shook her head. She was just worried about keeping herself alive.
The thought that this family of three was going to meet Hades soon left her with despair. It was inevitable to become frantic when you were under the looming cloud of hopelessness.
“Why are you looking unhappy then?” The chubby kid tugged her hand and placed it on his own cheek. “Tell me. I won’t tell anyone else.”
Ruan Xia glanced at the unperturbed and composed Song Tingshen. She decided to use the chubby kid to warn Song Tingshen. Call her too sensitive for caring about a stranger if you wanted. But now, she had become the novel’s Ruan Xia. On the issue of life and death, it was better to take the extra effort and leave out a hint.
“Mom had a nightmare during my afternoon nap. I’m still feeling really scared.”
Even though she was almost twenty-five years old, she had no problem acting cute in front of Song Tingshen and the kid in order to get the result she wanted.
“A nightmare?” The chubby kid felt even more confused. Adults were afraid of nightmares too?
“En.” Ruan Xia nodded. She slowly said, “In my dream, something bad happened to dad, mom, and precious you. It was so scary. We were covered in blood. Mom was scared that you were hurt, but I couldn’t go over to pick you up. I woke up in terror.”
After she said these words, the chubby kid only looked at her in puzzlement.
Before she could say anything else, Song Tingshen coldly said, “Don’t say these things in front of a child. You’ll scare him.”
