The Void's System-Chapter 89: Sleepover Negotiations

Sera folded her arms, still standing by the bed with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, seriously though—why did you come to my room?"

Zane propped himself up on one elbow and gave her a lopsided smirk. "You come into my room whenever you want. I don't see a gang of boys rushing in with brooms and dining chairs every time you do."

Sera blinked, then cracked a smile. "Fair point."

He sat up fully and rubbed the back of his head. "Plus... I just wanted to see you. I figured, if you get to crash in my room every now and then, maybe it's time we switch things up. Y'know, have a proper sleepover in your room this time."

Sera's gaze softened for a moment.

"You missed me, didn't you?" she teased.

Zane groaned and looked away. "Don't start."

She sat next to him on the bed. "Admit it. Just once."

Nyx floated above them, munching on a spectral popcorn kernel. "Ooooh this is getting mushy. I'm staying for this one."

Zane sighed. "Fine. Maybe... I missed you. A little."

Sera grinned. "Thought so."

She leaned back, resting her head beside his, staring at the ceiling. "Well then, welcome to my super comfy, way-better-than-yours bed."

"I still say the female dorms are cheating," Zane muttered. "I sleep on a stone slab compared to this cloud."

Sera chuckled and nudged him. "Deal with it, Void boy."

They stayed there, the silence between them oddly comforting.

Then Sera whispered, "No sneaking into anyone else's room, got it?"

Zane grinned. "Only yours."
