The Web of Knightspur-Chapter 260 - 256
Princess Eleanor walked out and soon she saw her younger brother standing there with a smile on his face.
"King Arlo!" Princess Eleanor smiled as she looked at her brother who was now standing on his own two feet. There was no discomfort in his eyes which made Princess Eleanor feel even better.
"Sister, please! Just Arlo. There is no need for formality between us." King Arlo’s face was a dark shade of pink as he blushed hard. His eyes blinked as he extended his hand towards her.
Princess Eleanor was happy as she held his smaller hands and walked towards her destination.
"I was in the dark that the man who saved me was the Grand Duke himself, and even the First Prince." King Arlo’s voice was small as he looked to the side with a smile. "I hope that he did not hide anything else from you."
Princess Eleanor shook her head. "We are in a position that will make us hide things knowingly or unknowingly from one another. But I am happy that we have trust in one another."
"So he is hiding something else?" King Arlo’s eyes darkened but soon he felt his sister’s hold on his hand tighten.
"No. He has been as honest with me as I have been with him. But the future may be a little different. I might hide something from him to keep him safe or he might do the same for me. But we trust one another so much that we will eventually tell each other the truth. That is the bond that we both have developed with one another." Princess Eleanor kept her eyes looking forward.
King Arlo nodded his head. They had reached their destination and soon the doors opened. The hall was covered with fresh flowers. There was a variety of them as they bloomed, making the whole room filled with their light yet soothing fragrance.
"I trust you, Sister. You might think that you do not have any family and you only have to depend on him. But that is not the truth. You know it, don’t you?" King Arlo said in a small voice as he looked forward at a distance. He could see the love in the eyes of the man waiting at the end of the aisle. "I am your family and the whole Angevin Kingdom will always be there to give you strength. It does not matter when and where. If you ever need any type of support, the Angevin Kingdom will be at your service."
Princess Eleanor was filled with emotions. Her eyes had tears in them. To be honest with herself, Princess Eleanor wanted to have her family here. Her mother, father, and brother would have said the same thing to her. The emotions were burning brightly in her as she nodded her head, "I know."
Princess Eleanor looked into her brother’s eyes as she bit down on her trembling lips. His gaze said that whatever he was saying was the truth. It was his true emotions that he wanted to portray. "You are my family as I am yours." Princess Eleanor smiled.
Soon, soft music started playing and it was time for Princess Eleanor to walk down the aisle. Her eyes moved to her sides as she saw Lady Gisella and Nia standing on either side of the bride. It indicated that both of them represented her, while Doctor Raul and Commander Colt stood at the groom’s side. Princess Eleanor’s eyes moved to the man himself who was smiling at her with a glow in his eyes.
Christopher was looking as handsome as ever, but there was a different glow on his face today. It was quite evident how he was feeling at that very moment.
Christopher could not take his eyes off Eleanor. He could not believe that the one he loved and cherished was about to be his wife. He still remembered seeing her the first time when he went to the Angevin Kingdom to find clues against the Emperor and Prince Richard. Although he did not get to talk to her then, he knew that the Princess had already stolen his heart away. She was always on his mind and soon after that, whenever he thought about the possibility of her being in danger, he wanted to destroy the source of said danger.
He was thankful that he was successful in saving her when the difficulties hit. The attack that took her family away was brutal, but he was happy that she was safe. However, he knew that he could not stay with her. He had to raise his power and strike soon.
He did not shy away when he decided to be her escort and before he knew it, the curiosity that he had for her had developed into love. Now she was about to become his wife.
As soon as King Arlo reached the front, Christopher smiled as he took a step forward and extended his hand. King Arlo sighed as he placed Princess Eleanor’s hand into Christopher’s as he said, "Keep her happy."
Christopher nodded as he looked at Princess Eleanor before kissing the palm of her hand softly, "I will."
The atmosphere in the whole room was stiff. Everyone looked at the pair with different expressions on their faces. Was this not a political marriage? Why did it look like real love?
King Arlo sighed as he walked to the side and sat down at his assigned position.
Priest Erasmus stood in front of everyone as he shook his head slightly. If he had known that this would be the situation, he would not have agreed to let them marry on the same day as the coronation.
"Ahem...!" Priest Erasmus’ voice brought everyone back to reality. "Let’s get started." Priest Erasmus smiled as he continued his words, "As the first Priest of the Temple of Knights, I hereby stand in front....."
The ceremony went smoothly. But the couple who were the focus of today’s celebration were simply looking at one another as if nothing else mattered to them.
"Princess Eleanor of the Angevin Kingdom, do you take Prince Christopher, the First Prince of the Roulux Empire as your lawfully wedded husband?" Priest Erasmus asked as he looked at the bride whose eyes were sparkling due to tears.
"I do."
Priest Erasmus then turned his gaze to the groom as he asked, "Prince Christopher of the Roulux Empire, do you take Princess Eleanor of the Angevin Kingdom as your lawfully added wife?"
"Yes, I do. My one and only wife."
As soon as the words were uttered, the whole room broke out in murmurs. This was a direct declaration that the new Emperor will not take any other lady as his wife or concubine.
Priest Erasmus sighed as he turned his head around. His eyes looked at the statue of God as he said loudly to get everyone to quiet down. "From today onwards, with the blessing of God, I declare you both husband and wife. Let’s welcome the Royal couple of the Roulux Empire. Emperor Christopher and Empress Eleanor."
Priest Erasmus turned around as he had a cushion in his hand that held the crown. He smiled as he looked at the side and two of the priests came forward with empty cushions as they placed the crown separately on each cushion.
Priest Erasmus took the crown of the Emperor as he placed it on Emperor Christopher’s head and repeated the same for Empress Eleanor.
"I present to you the new Emperor and Empress of the Roulux Empire." As soon as the words were said, the whole room burst into cheers but soon they all gasped.
Emperor Christopher bent down as he kissed Empress Eleanor’s hand while her face was filled with shock. "Today in front of God and everyone else present, I want to declare that you are the only one who I have loved and whom I will love for my entire life. I will make sure to keep you happy no matter what the situation will be. As a husband, I will be loyal to you alone and will try my best to prove myself over our journey in life together. So my Empress, please accept my love and be my family."
Empress Eleanor had tears running down her cheeks as she nodded her head. She wanted to say something in response to his heartfelt confession, but felt it was too difficult to say it out. Soon she saw Emperor Christopher get up as he took her into his arms and before she knew it, she was kissed right on the lips.
Their hot breaths intertwined together. Empress Eleanor could hear the voices from the attendees around her. She could hear some loud gasps too, but soon everything was drowned out by the sensations evoked within her. All she cared about right now, was the man who was locking lips with her and to focus on the feelings that they shared.
They were a family now. A family that Eleanor could call her own. She had found her happy ending after all. It was not an easy start. It was a difficult journey where she had experienced a lot of things, bad ones mostly. So many emotions were still vivid in her visions. She had experienced true friendship, brutal betrayal, scheming, and revenge. But amidst all of these, she was still able to find true love. She had managed to create a family of her own and now it was time to look forward to building it.
"I love you." Empress Eleanor managed to say in between her kiss as she buried her head in Emperor Christopher’s chest. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
"I love you, too." Emperor Christopher rubbed her head as he smiled. He looked at the people who were whispering a lot, but he could not bring himself to care.
"Now let’s face the next challenge in our lives. Together."
