(From Evan’s Perspective)

"So, this is the woman you love. She is not just a random woman, but the Queen of Querencia! What the hell? Who likes the Queen of another kingdom while being the King of a rival kingdom? I knew the name of the Queen of Querencia, but when you said Blue, I never thought it was her!" Liliana exclaimed after we returned from the dining hall having lunch.

"Will you not make so much noise?" I asked calmly.

"Have you ever told her?" she asked in a whisper.

"You don’t need to whisper, Liliana," I sighed. "No, I have not. I will not. She is married. And she is really happy. I am not the type of guy to ruin her marriage."

"How did you even become friends with the Royal couple of Querencia?"

"We share the same interests and while we worked together, we became close," I said.

"She seems like a nice lady. She is really beautiful too," she said. "I can see why you love her."

"She has a really cute son. When I said I have never seen a cuter baby, I was not lying. He really is just the cutest," she added.

"He is," I said. It was not a lie. Even enemies could never say Dion was not the cutest baby ever. His chubby cheeks, his stare, his giggling- everything was just too adorable.

"It must feel very bad seeing the woman you love happily married to another person," she said. She sounded truly sorry and concerned.

"A little. But not too much. She is at least happy. She could be in a bad marriage too. But that’s not the case. Her marriage life is filled with happiness.

Love is all about letting go anyway. I am happy just to watch her smile," I said.

When Blue wrote to me that she could not come two weeks earlier, I felt quite sad. I actually even made a list of places she might like. She wrote it was because of the rebels. But I knew better. I knew her husband very well. That guy was intensely obsessed and also a really jealous person.

If he could, he would just attach herself to him so she would never get out of his sight.

Although I was not happy, there was nothing I could do but accept her decision, regardless of why she made it.

Anyway, the fact that she came here made me glad, even if it was two weeks later than planned.

Blue discussed the matter of her progress in making a literal eye with me late at night three days later. I had a hidden workshop. We discussed the matter there. King Demetrius stayed in the side palace with their son because Dion could not get used to the change of environment and was in a bad mood. It was very unlike him. He usually almost never cried.

"I haven’t told Dem this," she muttered. "I actually started feeling really bad aches in my heart these days. Doctor Dimitri checked my whole body, but there is nothing wrong. So, I think it is not any kind of health issue."

"You think it is related to what you are doing," I said and she nodded. I shook my head. "I don’t have an explanation for this."

"My heart… Do you think part of it is made of black stone?" she asked.

"… No, Blue. No matter what, you are not… someone that was created out of nothing. You were born. You were in a woman’s womb."

"But I am not a creation, like all of you. I am his daughter," she pointed out. "I don’t know what you think, Evan, but I have a bad feeling."

"What are you thinking?"

"I don’t know… I am so confused. My thoughts are jumbled. All I can say is that I have a bad feeling," she sighed.

"Then stop it."

She looked at me as if I said something impossible.

"Why can’t you? It’s not like he can’t see at all. Besides, hasn’t King Demetrius said that he is okay with one eye?"

"Evan, if I lost one eye, I would be okay with one eye too. But I would not be complete. You don’t understand. He has nightmares at night. He can’t sleep well. Many times, he was screaming about… his eye with his palm over that eye.

And he won’t calm down. I would have to hug him and keep telling him that he was okay. Only then, he would calm down."

I stared at her. Her eyes were full of sadness. I remembered the time when she cried in her workshop. She felt so vulnerable. And even now, she felt pretty vulnerable. I felt the urge to hug her and tell her it would be alright.

But I did not do it. That time was different. But this time, she did not need me to hug her. She was here because she thought of me as a friend and someone who could understand her and help her.

"It’s scary when he is like that. More right now, as Dion also sleeps in our room. He gets a little crazy sometimes when I wake him up from the nightmares. It’s like after he wakes up, his separation anxiety kicks in," she said. "That one time when it happened because Dem was being very crazy, he accidentally knocked the lamp off the counter. The noise woke Dion up and he was crying.

But Dem would not let me go. Well, it was a bit of a hassle."

"How did you even defeat that big man?"

"Ah, I pinched him."

"Pinched him? If you tell me only a pinch can stop…"

"I pinched his nipple hard," she said nonchalantly. Blue definitely changed a lot.

I choked on air. Hell, that must have hurt him.

"Well, that was a good idea," I admitted.

"I know, right? I can’t just punch him or slap him. I love him too much and well, just look at him. He is so handsome. Who would want to hurt that face?" she said.

"Your reasoning is weird," I chuckled.

She gave me a file where her progress with her research was noted. I checked them while she looked around my workplace.

"Ugh, I feel so energetic, what the hell? I don’t even feel pregnant these days. Last time, I was tired all the time. I am tired these days too, but there are times like this when I feel more energetic than ever," she said.

"Don’t jump out of the window just because you feel energetic. Even your pet dragon cannot fly quickly enough to save you," I said.

"You never know. I may even grow wings out of my back and even without wings, I can fly in the air. It’s kind of like floating though."

"I know. I can do that too, although I choose not to," I said. I had an intense fear of heights. That was the reason I never went to the magic tower or to any high places. At least, I always tried not to.

"It’s fun. Riding on Vigor’s back is more fun," she said. "But you first need to figure out where to hold onto. At least, I know that I will still be alive even if I fall off. I told Dem once to do it, but he said no right away. He says there is nothing to hold onto."

"He is not wrong. I also don’t see anything to hold onto."

"It’s not like I would let him go alone. He just needs to trust me. I think he also hates height, but then again, he doesn’t hate it when we go to the magic tower. Ugh, I don’t understand him. Maybe when Dion grows up, I will take him with me," she said.

"What about Dion’s unborn sibling?"

"It depends. What if his sibling becomes like Dem. Then, it would be hard to convince him," she said. "You know what, on our first date, we rode his horse and he was just too fast! I was so scared! Huh, I surely will make him ride on Vigor’s back no matter what.

Just wait and see."

"Sure. I would like to see a scared King Demetrius," I chuckled. "That said, why didn’t his sister’s family just come with you all?"

"Dem fought with his sister two days before we would come. They are both so petty. They fought about something random over some afternoon tea. I was not there as Dion vomited. When I returned, both of them were literally pointing their swords at each other’s throats. Can you believe it?

And the fact that Merrick just sat there watching them is really disturbing. Anyway, I got them to calm down, but Evelyn was too angry at Dem and said she would not go with him. None of them would make up. So, here we are."

"So, that’s why Lady Evelyn would join two days before the banquet?"

"Yes," she sighed. "Trust me, I have never seen such siblings before. They are weird."
