The Werewolf King's Bride-Chapter 568: Eat Out
(From Blue’s Perspective)
Nothing happened the next seven days. On the good part, Doctor Dimitri notified me that the eye should truly work. He had checked it enough. Cyan also sent me a report a few days ago that there was no hint of any kind of potion in the maid’s body who had been killed in our bathroom. It meant she truly was killed using a weapon and nothing else.
"So, can we use it now?" I asked.
"Yes. I need to perform a little surgery for this," Doctor Dimitri said. "Whenever His Highness is ready, we can proceed."
"He is ready," I said. "Aren’t you, honey?"
Dem gave a brief nod.
"We all are very excited. Dion is also very excited, aren’t you, Dion?"
Dion gave me a very sloppy kiss on the cheek. He liked to imitate. He tried to imitate me when I kissed him.
"He is excited because his mother is excited," Dem said. "Well, anyway, let’s go with it. I am ready."
"Tonight, if it’s okay," Doctor Dimitri said.
"Sure, tonight it is then," Dem said.
After Doctor Dimitri left, a maid came to tell let me know that someone had come to meet me.
"Your Highness, Lady Evelyn is here," the maid said.
"Why?" I asked, surprised. She had not sent me a letter beforehand or anything. We were not supposed to meet. Besides, I was kind of avoiding her after that day. She creeped me out.
"She said she is here to have tea with you."
"Tell her I said her to fuck off," Dem said. "The Queen is busy right now with our son. The Queen is free unlike her who has nothing to do but to come out of nowhere and demand to have tea."
"It’s a request as Lady Evelyn said," the maid said.
"Just go and tell her what I said," Dem said.
"Anyway, Dem, let’s have something you love because you are going to get an eye tonight," I said.
"Is it that exciting?"
"Of course, it is! It’s not just because I made it, but also because you won’t have to wear an eyepatch anymore," I exclaimed. "I know you say you got used to it, but… Dem, you still have nightmares. You might not know it, but you… say a lot of things in your sleep…"
"… What do I say?"
"Many things…"
"You won’t tell me exactly what?"
"There is no point, Dem. I don’t want you to remember things like that," I said. "I know the past always haunts, but I wish you could live in the present, instead of remembering the past."
"I want to do that too, love, but is it that easy? When I am awake, it’s true that I don’t always feel how I felt at that time in the war. But when I close my eyes, no, eye, I don’t think that’s the case. My mind subconsciously remembers, even when I don’t want to."
I understood this feeling very well. It happened to me a lot too. What happened to me in my family was a few years ago, however, when I closed my eyes, the horrible memories came back nonetheless. All those cruel words, the way they hit me, all those things came back to me. It was painful to experience all over again.
Not just those memories, but also the memories of the way I was taken away from Dem and the way Azure abused me. I still could not eat red foods without remembering when he fed me the blood of his enemy over a steak. And the mark on my back always brought back memories of how it came there. The way Dem lost his life right in front of me haunted me.
I sometimes got up gasping and shaking; I would look to my side to make sure Dem was there. He was there to hold me, but really, he needed to be held too. It was not just me who had nightmares.
"So, where do you want to go?" Dem asked.
"I wanted to just walk around. Dion hasn’t seen the outside world that much. Perita has told me about this family restaurant. It is a very quiet place and the food is good. Dion will like the quiet environment," I said.
Since Dion hated it when too much noise was made, we had to be extra careful about where we took him to. Dem had the tendency to get angry suddenly and raise his voice. Dion hated it, so I had told Dem off about it. Now, he tried not to do it.
We took Dion to meetings as well. Since during meetings, no one usually raised their voice much, Dion was not bothered much. Actually, it was not unusual in a general sense for there being lots of arguments at meetings. If there were arguments, then there surely would be a lot of loud voices.
However, Dem always hated it when someone raised their voice when he was near and managed that kind of environment in his meetings.
"Dion and I will get ready now. Go and get ready as well," I said. "Wear something that will make you look less like the King."
"My black eye and the eye patch will give it away, my love, no matter how much I try," he pointed out. "And besides, our son has black eyes too. You cannot expect to be able to hide your identity while having us in your family. You are recognizable too. Everyone knows what the Queen looks like."
"Perita said the ones who run the restaurant are very laid back. They don’t know much about the things related to the throne. They just don’t care," I said. "There are people like that, you know."
"I don’t trust your knight about anything other than swordsmanship," he said.
"Come on, don’t be like that. You can trust her about things related to food as well. She loves food," I said. "Now, go and get ready."
I wore a black simple gown and put my hair in a long braid. Braids kind of suited me more than other hairstyles. I put on a huge t-shirt on Dion. It was not huge in general as it was mine. But it was really huge on Dion. Dem and I noticed he liked wearing big clothes than fitting ones.
So, we tried with my t-shirts and he loved them. So, he wore my t-shirts more than he wore his own clothes. Besides, he looked really adorable wearing those big clothes.

We reached exactly where Perita said the restaurant was. However, all we saw was a small hut.
"Are you sure it’s the right place?" Dem asked.
"It should be," I mumbled. "Let’s go in."
Dem pushed the door slightly. It was open. A young girl from the inside smiled at us.
"Customers, mama," she said loudly and then looked at us. "Please, come in."
It was a small place. There was only two sets of chairs and tables. Dem looked around, shocked. He never knew restaurant this small existed. Well, I did not know either.
A woman came out, who most probably was the girl’s mother. She had the same smile as the girl."
"Please seat down. You must be new here," she said.
"Ah, yes," I said with a smile. "We heard about this place from a friend."
"Your friend must be a knight. We are famous among knights," the young girl said as she pulled the chairs out for us. "The knights who love the homely kind of food love to come here. I remember every single knight who came here."
We took our seats and we were given a small sheet where the menus were written. "Today, these dishes are available. We reset them every day."
I ordered asparagus pasta and braised short ribs. I was not a huge fan of pasta, but since I had not had pasta in a while, I wanted to try it after a long time. Dem had beer battered fish merely because it had alcohol and he wanted to see how the alcohol tasted here. He also ordered scallop potatoes and cowboy steak. For our drinks, we ordered fresh lemon juice. For Dion, we got milk pudding.
Dion was not going to have the whole thing anyway, just bits of it.
"This baby is so cute! How old is he? Or, she? I don’t quite understand…" the little girl asked while his mother prepared our food.
"He is six and a half months old," I replied.
"He is the cutest baby ever! Will he come to me?"
"I don’t know. You can try," I said.
"Come here, little baby," she said, widening her arms.
However, Dion turned his head and hid his face in my chest.
"Baby loves his mother only," she said.
"Boys usually loves Mommy more than others," her mother said from the adjacent kitchen.
"My little brother is like that too, very clingy to Mommy," she said.
"You have a little brother?" I asked.
"Yes. He is three years old," she said.
"How old are you?"
"I am twelve."
"And what’s your name?"
"I am Sheryl. Lady, I think you should get the milk drink of ours. It is good for pregnant women."
"Oh, is it that clear that I am pregnant?" I asked, surprised. I had a baby bump, but even before getting pregnant, my stomach looked like that. Explore stories on novelbuddy
"Please don’t misunderstand. We just have experience with pregnant women. That’s how I knew," she said. "Mother is a nurse. So, I also know a thing or two about these things."
