The Witch and Her Four Dangerous Alphas-Chapter 230: Truth about Second Prince
Selene turned away from Kael, still angry, still refusing to look at him, but the truth was... her heart was pounding for a completely different reason.
Because beneath the anger, something darker was twisting inside her, and it was fear.
A fear she couldn’t swallow.
What if the council already knew she had learned something?
What if they had seen her follow the witch?
What if they were already planning something worse?
Her breath started coming too fast. Her hands trembled. Her chest tightened.
"I... I can’t do anything to them," she whispered, voice cracking. "They control everything... even if the king dies then everything would be ruined. What if... what if..."
Aeron immediately stepped forward and held her cheeks in both hands.
"Selene," he said firmly, "look at me."
She tried, but her eyes were still watery.
Lucian came to her other side, brushing her hair gently away from her face. "You don’t have to fear them. Not anymore."
Kael, feeling guilty, stood behind her with his head lowered. "We’ll protect you. All of us."
But the one who moved first... was Luca.
Without saying a single word, he stepped right behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. His warmth swallowed her panic instantly. His chin touched lightly against the top of her head as he whispered,
"Selene... leave it to us. We can deal with the council. They are nothing in front of us."
She froze when his breath brushed her ear.
"We just have to get them out of their lair," Luca continued softly. "Once they lose their hidden place... everything will flip in our favor. So don’t panic. You’re safe."
His arms tightened gently, almost possessive, almost claiming. A warm shiver ran through her spine.
And the others saw it.
Aeron’s jaw clenched.
Lucian’s eyes darkened.
Kael’s shoulders stiffened.
All three of them stared at her as if Luca had just done something illegal... something they desperately wished they had done instead.
Selene’s breath caught in her throat.
Because the way they were looking at her... hot, intense, hungry... it made her knees weak.
Her face flushed.
"L Luca... you’re too close," she stammered.
He didn’t move an inch. "Then push me away."
She didn’t. She couldn’t.
Aeron stepped closer until he was in front of her, his chest barely a hand away. "Selene," he murmured, "you don’t have to carry this alone. We are here. All four of us."
Lucian rested a palm against her back, just above Luca’s arm, his voice low. "You will never face danger without us again."
Kael, still sulking a little, leaned down near her shoulder. "You scared us," he muttered. "We can’t lose you."
Selene looked up and met four burning gazes trapping her in the center.
She felt heat crawl up her neck. Her heart fluttered wildly. The air between them grew heavy, thick, almost suffocating with tension.
Luca’s arms still wrapped around her waist.
Aeron towering in front of her, close enough she could feel the warmth of his breath.
Lucian brushing her back softly, steady and warm.
Kael leaning in, eyes soft and desperate for forgiveness.
She was surrounded.
Her pulse hammered as if her heart was trying to escape her chest.
"Y You all... stop staring at me like that..." she whispered, unable to hold their gazes any longer.
Aeron’s lips curved slightly. "Why? Does it make you nervous?"
She glared weakly. "Of course it does!"
Lucian’s voice dropped, deep and smooth. "Good. You should know what you do to us."
Kael grinned softly, trying to lighten the atmosphere. "You look cute when you’re flustered."
Luca lowered his mouth near her ear and murmured, "And beautiful when you’re brave."
Selene felt her entire body heat up.
She grabbed Luca’s arm. "I... I’m calm now. You can let go."
"No," Luca said simply, holding her tighter.
Aeron stepped even closer, eyes locked with hers. "He’s right. Stay with us."
Lucian leaned in too. "We’re not letting you face anything alone anymore."
Kael finally smiled again. "So stop panicking, little mate. You’re ours."
Selene’s breath hitched. The room felt too small. And she felt too weak.
Selene finally calmed down a little under their warmth, but then another thought suddenly struck her. Her eyes widened, and she grabbed Luca’s arm tightly.
"I... I remembered something else," she said, her voice trembling. "Aeron... I mean, I don’t know what Vaelen is planning. He looked so tense today. And I think something else is going on."
Kael, still wanting to make up for teasing her earlier, replied first in a lazy, careless tone, "Of course something is going on. He’s obviously trying to pull all the powerful nobles to his side so he can sit on the throne peacefully. His stepbrother is plotting, so he has to move first."
Selene’s breath caught.
"Stepbrother? The second prince? Is he really plotting against Vaelen? He looked innocent today. Almost... harmless."
The reaction was instant. All four men stiffened.
Aeron’s voice dropped dangerously low.
"You met him?"
Selene blinked, startled.
"Y Yes... I met him today. In the king’s chamber. It was my first time seeing him."
Lucian’s expression turned cold.
"You should never meet him again."
Aeron moved forward, placing his hand on her shoulder firmly.
"He is not a good person, Selene. He is dangerous... very dangerous."
She frowned, confused.
"But how? He looks so weak. And I heard he is... that he is the son of a prostitute the king once brought into the palace. So how can he be anything dangerous?"
Aeron sighed deeply, rubbing his temples as if preparing himself to reveal something unpleasant.
"He is not a prostitute’s son at all."
Selene froze.
Aeron continued, voice firm, "His mother was a woman sent by the council. Sent deliberately to seduce the king. To give birth to a child. To plant a spy inside the royal bloodline."
Selene’s eyes widened so much her breath stopped in her throat.
Kael snickered darkly. "Think about it. The king had countless women. But none of their children survived because of the queen. Yet somehow this one woman not only survived, she even gave birth to a son and the queen never found out. Why do you think that happened?"
Selene felt her stomach twist.
"Because... she had the council behind her?" she whispered.
Lucian nodded.
"Yes. From the very beginning. They hid her. Protected her and supported her. Because they wanted that child on the throne someday."
Selene’s entire world tilted.
"So everything... everything was planned from the start?"
"Yes," Aeron said sharply. "The council wanted a king they could control like a puppet. That boy... the second prince... is their perfect tool."
Selene covered her mouth with her hand.
"If that’s true... then what about Vaelen? Will they target him next?"
Her voice shook like she already knew the answer.
Luca finally answered, his tone low and serious.
"Yes. Vaelen will be their next target. First the king. Then Vaelen. And after that..." He paused, eyes darkening. "Your father."
Selene felt her entire body go cold.
"No," she whispered. "No... if the throne falls into the council’s hands, then the entire werewolf kingdom... it will... it will fall under their control."
"And the witches will suffer first," Lucian added quietly. "You know what they do to witches."
Selene’s hands tightened into fists.
"They are the ones... trafficking witches... for pleasure. For experiments. For power."
Her voice dripped hatred.
"I will never allow the council to rise in power. Never. Not until I take revenge for my mother."
Aeron nodded, his expression firm and protective.
"And we will help you. All of us."
Luca tightened his grip on her waist.
Lucian’s voice softened.
"You are not alone anymore."
Kael tilted her chin gently.
"And nothing will happen to Vaelen either. We won’t let them take him."
Selene looked at the four of them... their eyes filled with determination and burning protectiveness.
Selene did not know whether she should tell Vaelen everything or not, after all she was hiding many things from him.
And she didn’t know how to confront him at all... would he be able to believe her and all this complicated truth?
But both sides wanted the council down, so would it not be better if they worked together? It would make them stronger.
"I think... I should tell Vaelen everything..." Selene mumbled, but all of them heard it crystal clear.
Suddenly their bodies stiffened and she could see the reluctance in their eyes... and she realised yeah, they didn’t like each other.
"If you don’t want... then I won’t..." But before she could finish, Luca silenced her and said, "Don’t worry about us."
"Just do what you want... we will always support you. And I think it would be good if we all worked together." He said this before placing his head on top of hers again and slowly rocking her with a loving expression.
He was clearly enjoying being close to her while his brothers could only look at him with jealousy.
