The Witch and Her Four Dangerous Alphas-Chapter 244: Someone Took Her!
Selene’s POV~
Death felt very close.
I could sense it crawling over my skin, pressing down on my chest until even breathing felt like a distant memory. My eyes refused to open, my body refusing every command my mind tried to give.
Then something changed.
The air changed suddenly, filled with terror instead of hunger. The wolves...those bloodthirsty beasts...suddenly howled in pain. It was not victory cries. They are miserable screams, broken howls that echoed through the space like a nightmare turning against itself.
My heart trembled weakly.
Someone had come.
I didn’t know who it was. I didn’t know why they were here. But I could feel it clearly...those wolves were no longer the hunters. They were being torn apart. One by one, ruthlessly, without any mercy.
Claws ripped through flesh, and bones cracked. Bodies slammed against stone. The sound was horrifying, yet somewhere deep inside me, a fragile spark of relief flickered to life despite the poison crushing my senses.
I wanted to open my eyes. But I couldn’t.
My mind felt like it was sinking into deep water, heavy and slow, drifting farther away from reality with every heartbeat. The screams faded into muffled echoes, like they were happening very far away.
Then warmth touched me.
Arms slid beneath my body, lifting me gently from the cold ground. Whoever it was held me securely, carefully, as if I were something fragile instead of just a broken woman.
I felt my head rest against a solid chest.
A heartbeat. It was strong, steady against me.
For a brief second, comfort washed over me, soft and unfamiliar, and my mind loosened its grip on fear. Whoever had come... they were fighting the wolves. And they had chosen to save me.
My last thought before everything went dark was faint and confused.
Am I safe...? Or is this just another illusion?
Then my consciousness slipped away completely, swallowed by darkness, as I lost myself in the arms of a stranger.

Vaelen’s POV~
I was already moving before my mind fully caught up with reality. Every instinct screamed at me to leave, to escape this place before it swallowed me whole. Fighting head-on now would only end one way, and that is my death, and that was not how this would end.
I would never die a worthless death, but I am not some arrogant alpha that I would actually charge into enemy ground when I am outnumbered.
They had already come up with a plan. I didn’t even hear that my father had passed away, but the next news I got was that the Lycan place was actually surrounded.
This was not part of the plan. Uncle Maximum and I had expected resistance, yes, but not this soon and definitely not this much. Wolves flooded the Lycan capital from every direction, their presence choking the air, their numbers far beyond what should have been possible without warning.
My eyes burned as realization hit me hard.
They were all siding with the council.
Not one pack stood with the Lycan family.
So this was their decision. To uproot us completely. To erase our bloodline as if we were nothing more than dirt under their claws. A cold smile tugged at my lips despite the danger closing in.
Very well.
I would remember this.
I ran through the palace corridors, boots pounding against stone, dodging broken pillars and fallen bodies. Howls echoed behind me, close enough that I could feel their breath on my neck. They were hunting me.
I clenched my fists, forcing myself to stay calm.
Uncle... please have taken Serena away. Please let them both be safe.
That was the only thing keeping me moving.
I turned sharply into a wide hall and stopped.
An alpha stood there waiting for me.
He was massive and dark-furred, his aura rolling out like poison, blocking every escape. His lips curled into a mocking grin as his gaze dragged over me slowly, arrogantly.
"So," he drawled, "the Lycan prince finally runs."
I bared my teeth. "Move."
He laughed. "You really thought your family would win? The council owns this world now. Your kind is finished."
Rage flared hot and blinding.
"You picked the wrong side," I said quietly.
He stepped forward, eyes gleaming. "And you picked the losing one."
We clashed violently. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Power exploded between us as we tore into each other, crashing through pillars, stone shattering under the force. He was strong, but arrogance slowed him.
That was his fatal mistake.
He lunged for my shoulder, his jaws open wide. I shifted mid-air, my full Lycan form tearing free with a burst of silver fur and raw power. I was faster, bigger, and fueled by a bloodline he couldn’t comprehend.
I ducked under his heavy swipe and lunged upward, my jaws snapping shut around his thick, hairy throat before he could even register that I had moved.
He didn’t even have time to scream.
I felt the crunch of his windpipe and the hot spray of blood against my fur. With one powerful, savage jerk of my head, I ripped his neck apart.
His body went limp instantly. I dropped him, and he collapsed lifelessly at my feet, his eyes still wide with the shock of his own defeat.
I didn’t linger. Blood dripped from my fangs as I turned toward the shadows of the corridor.
I let out a sharp, low whistle, signaling my remaining men who were hidden in the rafters and side rooms. We didn’t have much time left before the next wave arrived.
We fled the Lycan palace under the cover of the mounting chaos. Behind us, our home was burning, and our enemies were cheering. But as I looked back one last time, my eyes glowing with predatory fire, I knew the truth.
This was not the end of the Lycans. This was only the beginning of our revenge.
I would find Serena. I would find my uncle. And then, I would come back for everything they stole. And would rip them apart.
