The Witcher – Uchiha Madara!-Chapter 218 – Work for the Dwarf King.
[Chapter Size: 2100 Words.]
Third Person POV
Kaedwen.
...
...
"What do we have here..."
The dwarf examined them, giving a rather long look at Geralt and Ciri.
"You are in front of the king of the mountain, Ghoirf Rookiedner!"
Another dwarf, serving as the "Royal" announcer, spoke beside him.
"Bernaard..."
The witcher said as he stared at the king without removing his hood.
"And what do you seek in my domain?"
The king spoke while all the dwarves watched, waiting for the answer, some with weapons in hand.
"We..."
Geralt was about to respond before being interrupted.
"No need to say, I know you're seeking passage to the other side of the mountain."
He said in an authoritative tone as the witcher raised an eyebrow.
"Surprised?"
The dwarf on the throne smiled, revealing some gold teeth.
"There's nothing in this mountain I don't know about, Geralt, the white wolf."
He spoke, now making Geralt and Ciri furrow their brows, since Geralt didn't want to reveal his true name.
"I also know who is by your side, that one wearing a cloak..."
He said, smiling.
This alerted Geralt, who drew his sword, while the dwarves also grabbed their hammers upon seeing this, and the place took on a tense atmosphere.
Ciri readied herself, holding a kunai in one hand and touching the hilt of her sword with the other, preparing to fight as well.
"Well... it's not like I'd rat you out just like that. Hahahaha"
The king seemed unaffected by the commotion in the room, smiling and laughing.
Geralt narrowed his eyes, knowing the king wanted something, still wondering how he knew all that so quickly.
Geralt recognized no one there, yet the king already seemed to know they were coming.
"However, there is a price.
If you want my silence and passage through the mountain, you'll have to do a little service for me.
Something that has been troubling me greatly over the past weeks, ever since that thing appeared..."
He said.
"And what would that be?"
Geralt murmured.
"It's very simple.
I want you to deal with something that entered the treasure room.
It's colossal, and not even our elite can handle it.
That's why perhaps a witcher can solve our problem."
He said.
Ciri remained silent, waiting for a response from Geralt or Madara, who stood there with weapons formed in his hands.
"Alright.
We'll see your problem."
Geralt said finally, in an indifferent tone.
"I knew I could count on you!"
The king spoke cheerfully.
"Now you, show them our little problem.
I'm sure with this witcher you'll easily take care of it."
He declared while the dwarves seemed to frown.
"Show the way. Let's go!"
The king insisted, with everyone watching as some dwarves stepped forward.
"Come here, witcher.
Let's show the vault room."
He said, heading toward one of the entrances, leaving behind the dwarf who had led them in.
There were 8 dwarves guiding them, as they passed through a place full of burrows with dwarf women and children staring at them with curious eyes.
"You'd better not try to steal a single piece of gold from that place,
otherwise you'll leave here with your head separated from your body,"
The dwarf broke the silence as they walked through the tunnel, leaving the burrows behind.
"Are dwarves always this cocky?"
Ciri murmured beside Geralt, who nodded.
"I've never been here, but they're normally grumpy.
I'm not surprised their king is just as full of himself as the others, declaring a mountain as his kingdom,"
Geralt murmured as he followed the path.
They began descending into a deeper area of the mountain. It didn't take long before they reached the mines, with some lava visible in the lower levels. It was no wonder they had chosen the mountain as their home, and there were many forges as well.
Ciri continued using ice magic to ease the heat, as she wasn't used to that kind of environment. The dwarves working there stopped to glance at them with narrow eyes.
Moving forward, they finally entered an even deeper area, with several guards protecting a massive door.
"Who are these?"
One of the guards muttered in front of more than thirty guards.
"They just arrived at the mountain. Our king made a deal with them, as long as they deal with a monster."
The dwarf guiding them spoke to the guard.
"You're telling me that this man... and a child are going into the vault?
You really think they'll handle the monster that nearly a thousand dwarves couldn't defeat?"
The guard raised an eyebrow, mocking.
"It's a request from the king, and he's a witcher... known for killing monsters... You shouldn't question it,"
The other dwarf replied, while the guard just shook his head without arguing further.
"Alright then. Open the door and let them in. They'll just be more food for that thing,"
He said, as the dwarves began pulling chains on the mechanism.
The gears started turning, and the door began to open, rising upward.
Geralt furrowed his brow at that moment after hearing those words...
Thinking twice before entering, he didn't like hearing that a thousand dwarves had failed to defeat whatever was in there—especially since the dwarves hadn't even explained what was inside.
He didn't want to put Ciri at risk.
"Wait, we need more information about the monster,"
He requested immediately.
"We don't know much about it.
All we know is that it's big and can dig through the mountain as it pleases,"
A dwarf from the royal chamber answered.
"It's long too, like a worm... And very disgusting,"
Added the dwarf in charge of security at the location.
"Come on, Geralt. We can handle it.
At least we don't have to kill anyone, right?"
Ciri murmured.
"I think you should stay. I'll handle this,"
Geralt requested.
"No,"
She said.
"Besides, there's more than one of us,"
She added, low enough for only him to hear.
But in the end, they entered through the gate, beginning to see the kind of room they were stepping into...
The sight before them was a vast area surrounded by carved walls and well-crafted columns.
The place below them was filled with gold, gemstones of all kinds—a sea of riches that seemed endless.
"This is unbelievable..."
Ciri murmured.
"I believe you're going to die. But if you survive, you better not touch a single gold coin here. Otherwise..."
The dwarf from the royal chamber spoke from the other side of the entrance, just before they closed the door and it began to descend, slamming against the ground with force, kicking up dust and even messing up their hair.
Ciri and Geralt stayed silent after that, analyzing the situation again in front of them.
An explosion erupted next to Ciri as Madara appeared.
No one said anything as he walked a few steps to the edge of the stairs and looked out with his Sharingan activated.
"Well, I don't remember seeing this monster,"
Madara said, eyeing the piles of gold with a curious look.
"What kind of monster...?"
Geralt murmured. He still couldn't see anything.
"Let me show you."
Madara said as he took an explosive kunai and threw it, advancing into the middle of the piles, burying it before it exploded among them.
The explosion erupted the very next moment, launching masses of gold in all directions. The sound echoed throughout the hall—even the dwarves on the other side heard it, wondering what was already happening in there.
Everything fell silent for a second, before the piles of gold began to shift again.
They trembled as a creature started to emerge.
"Do you know what that is? I don't remember this from Vesemir's books..."
Madara asked Geralt as the creature rose, dozens of meters tall.
"Neither do I,"
Geralt murmured, observing the emerging creature with a surprised look.
It stretched its serpentine body and stared at them, opening its enormous mouth filled with rows of teeth—and among them were eyes.
Its anatomy was strange, even for that world.
It was some kind of worm.
"You want to try?"
Madara asked Ciri, as she nodded and stepped forward. She opened a pouch at her side and pulled out a kunai—not the one Madara was transformed into, but one of her own—with a paper attached covered in markings.
If it were a kunai with a regular fūinjutsu seal, she wouldn't be able to activate it, but Madara had taught her a trick: to draw runes instead of Japanese kanji.
He, together with Vesemir through the signs, had developed a runic explosive tag as well, with Ciri pouring her raw power into it.
No one else besides her could create something akin to a ninja explosive seal—after all, she held the greatest chaotic power among them. So it was easy for her to achieve that by imbuing it with her magic.
She then took aim at the creature, which glared at them with fury, opening its mouth and roaring.
Ciri moved her glowing arm to boost the throw and launched the kunai—it flew like a bullet toward the creature.
ROOOOOOAAAAARRRR!!
The kunai sped forward at full velocity, the paper glowing emerald green.
It entered the creature's mouth and disappeared from sight.
BOOOOM!
An explosion burst from inside, affecting even the neck area.
Smoke poured out as the creature screamed in pain.
"A beautiful shot,"
Madara commented, while Ciri opened an admiring smile.
Meanwhile, Geralt was slightly shocked.
Sure, he had bombs that could create a smaller effect, but he couldn't throw them at that range—not even bolts from his crossbow could reach that far.
"Anyway, let's finish this once and for all,"
Madara said as he pulled his magic sword from the storage seal.
Ciri also drew her blade from the sheath as the creature struggled to recover.
Ciri acted—she glowed and vanished, reappearing atop the creature's head, trying to balance herself as the beast desperately tried to suppress the pain and the smoke escaping from its mouth and wounded skin.
She quickly drove her sword into the creature.
It looked like a tiny needle in such a massive being, seemingly causing no reaction.
But a moment later, Ciri's eyes began to glow as energy surged from the sword, channeling into the giant worm—it lit up from within, through its still-open mouth.
Blood burst out as the creature began to scream in agony.
"What's wrong, Madara? Gonna stand there while I do all the work?"
Ciri shouted at him from that distance, still balanced atop the creature, shaking her head and concentrating green energy through her.
Madara raised an eyebrow. Then, with a single step forward, he leapt up to the ceiling and began running directly toward the creature in the center of the chamber, with Ciri still on top of it.
Geralt stood there, watching as the creature—over thirty meters tall—was now being attacked by Ciri and Madara.
As Madara used his jutsus and his blade, Ciri also unleashed her powers, teleporting from one side to another, wounding the creature in multiple places with green energy surging through her sword.
What had once been impossible for a thousand dwarves—or even for him, Geralt—to handle...
That same creature was now being utterly destroyed by two teenagers with abnormal powers.
The creature let out one final roar before finally collapsing, crashing down onto the piles of gold, which scattered in every direction, as half its body was sliced in two by a blade created in Madara's hand when he simply passed through it.
It was that variation of Chidori using a spear, but in Madara's case, he used purple lightning.
"You could've killed it the whole time?"
Ciri reappeared near where Madara had landed with teleportation, looking at him, furrowing her brow.
He could've used that from the start and ended the creature.
"You could say that... But it was fun,"
He said, opening a small smile.
She smiled too, seeming happy with it, as the two had fought together.
"Maybe I should learn that too.
Do you think I could do it with my energy without losing control?"
She murmured, looking at her sword.
That made Madara look at his own.
He had fought Ciri when she'd lost control of her powers, and it had greatly damaged his sword... Soon, it wouldn't be of much use anymore.
Geralt, with calm steps, approached them, looking at the creature's body, curious.
"I never thought something this big could exist here.
Where could it have come from?"
Geralt asked, studying the creature.
"Vesemir would definitely want to hear about this thing."
"Who knows... There's no record of everything that exists on the surface.
Imagine what's beneath the earth,"
Madara said, also observing the creature.
He didn't see anything abnormal about it—he believed it to be something native to this world. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"And now?"
Ciri asked.
"Well, we dealt with the creature...
But that dwarf, he's not just going to let us go after seeing all that gold."
"I think so too.
I think he expected us to die fighting that monster, and he's definitely planning something now that we killed it."
"Well, then let's deal with him,"
Madara said as they began heading back toward the entrance.
