The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 309: A good thing had happened.
Alix had been expecting this call, it was the reason why she had done what she did, attacking Lin Billi in a way which would not lead back to her.
Lin Billi’s hands were probably showing signs of sickness by now. She didn’t know how the bone shattering powder worked but she was certain Billi’s bones were shattered. After all the doctors in the hospital had exhausted their minds searching for a cause and solution, someone in the family was bound to recall that Alix once had broken fingers that had been declared impossible to heal but were healed now. That someone would suggest that they contact her and demand she provide the contact of the doctor that had healed her.
She thought this call would be calling in a day or two.
"It might not be the call you are expecting. Maybe they just want you to visit your sister." The system suggested.
"Ha!" she responded and smirked.
She had not visited when Billi ate shit so why would she visit now?
"What kind of response is that? Your sister is gravelly injured. Her life is in danger as i speak to you right now. I know that you two have issues but now is the time to set them aside and stand together as family. Both of you are my beloved daughters after all."
"Ho, wow!" she exclaimed.
This must be what a snake oil salesman sounds like.
"Mr. Lin, i think you are misusing the word beloved. I will visit when i get time. I am busy."
She ended the call, cutting it before he could say more. If she visited this early they would not reek of desperation. It was best to give them a few days, maybe a month. When Jing Hee was most desperate, she would give up those shares she had secretly bought to save her one and only child.
She tossed on the phone on the bed and ignored the ringing. Lin Qianfan was calling again, and she had no plans of answering.
He didn’t know how close he had come to having his legs broken tonight as well. The only reason why she changed her mind was because it was she needed him healthy in order to complete her plan. He was still on the menu though, and she would get around to him soon.
She removed her clothes and went into the bathroom to take a shower. In there she hummed a joyful tune as she washed her body. An idea for a new composition even came to her. By the time she stepped out of the bathroom, she was all smiles.
She jumped in the air like a ballet dancer and twirled on one leg.
"Oh happy day, oh happy, happy day." she sung.
"What has got you so happy?" Caishen’s voice interrupted her singing.
He was in the walk in closet getting changed just as she arrived inside in a bathrobe and a smile.
"Hubby Zhang." she waved.
She looked at her waving hand and put it down. "It’s a great day. I have had a good day today, what about you?"
"I don’t know." he responded unsurely as he buttoned his shirt slowly. "I had to let go of half of our auditing team. While it was necessary because they have been lapse in doing their job and turned corrupt, I don’t know if it was the right thing to do on the eve of Bo’s inauguration as chairman of Zhang group."
She moved closer and bent down in front of him. The job of buttoning his shirt suddenly became hers.
While her fingers moved slowly she asked him in a soft voice, "Are you worried that the employees you fired will cause trouble tomorrow?"
"It’s the press which worries me. The employees broke company rules and some committed actual crimes. They are lucky that we are not pressing charges. Grandfather will be displeased if this affects the inauguration in any way."
There was worry and exhaustion in his voice which made her feel pity for him. The only person whose expectations she had to carry her entire life was herself. Him on the other hand, he had a lot of people that expected a lot of things from him. Grandpa Zhang especially had been putting a lot of pressure on him lately.
She sat down on his lap and put her arms around his neck, giving him a hug. One of her hands moved up and down slowly in his hair.
"It’s okay." she said slowly and repeated it three more times.
She didn’t know how best to comfort him because she couldn’t badmouth his grandfather or advise him to not to pay mind to the elder. She also couldn’t guarantee that the media would not try to print something ugly. All she could do was hug him and hope everything would be okay.
"What has got you so happy?" he asked her. "Is it the animal attack on your sister?"
She lifted her head and looked at him. Instead of shock, there was a smile and curiosity on her face.
"Wow, the news got to you pretty fast. Is it Lin Qianfan that called and informed you?"
He mentioned some of the people that had called him. "Him, Mo Sen, someone from the press asking what you were doing in the vicinity. The president of Mandarin tower, my mother and my sister. I think i received more than half of these calls before you reached home."
"The press already knows that i was there, wow. They can check all the footage if they want, i only went to the bathroom and ordered for food. I had no idea that she was even there. What was she doing there?" She blinked innocently and sounded so curious and uninformed.
He laughed and shook his head. "She was attacked by a cat and you just happened to be there with Majesty. My darling sister hulk, it’s a great thing that you happen to be a good liar."
"Does the cat look like my Majesty?" she asked.
"No." he answered.
She shrugged. The evidence spoke for itself.
Caishen didn’t believe her. He had asked the president of Mandarin tower to have the security footage sent to him and then erased completely as a favor to him. Nobody would find any evidence of anything shady happening to Lin Billi in that hotel.
He had viewed it personally of course and he happened to see the ordinary looking brown and white cat and what appeared to be a snake making a run for it before disappearing into a bathroom.
He couldn’t explain why a cat and a snake were working together or why his wife coincidentally happened to be in the bathroom at the exact time when Lin Billi was attacked.
He wouldn’t ask much and he didn’t care if she was innocent or guilty because he would protect her anyway.
"What were you doing at the hotel anyway?" he asked her.
She smiled and answered confidently, "Mandarin tower’s sixtieth floor Vip restaurant has the best mandarin chicken in the city. I just wanted some chicken."
