The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 572: Making good on her promise.
Chapter 572: Making good on her promise.
Alix opened her eyes and rubbed them gently before looking around to observe her surroundings. She was still in the cloud house but what she didn’t know was how she had fallen asleep. It just didn’t make sense, she could not even remember yawning.
The blue elf had taken on the shape of Mafan and it was sitting in a bean bag chair, using her phone to play a game. Weather boy was on the ground, in purple handcuffs and a hood over his head. Small holes had been poked around the nostrils to ensure that he could still breathe.
He was dressed in red prison overalls marked by a number 0002. Alix had never seen the handcuffs or the prison uniform before.
"Blue smurf, what happened? How did i fall asleep suddenly?"
It put down the phone and sat upright.
"The rain needles he used which grazed you had some toxins. You fell asleep because your body was fighting them off." It responded.
She gasped and her hands moved to her stomach. "Babies."
"They are fine, do you think i am just any ordinary system? Your children are well protected, if they didn’t die when your body was burned up in the explosion in the game, they certainly won’t die from this little toxin. Don’t worry, the supplements you have been taking and my special abilities are protecting them."
Despite his words of assurance, she remained uncertain. The game was too dangerous when she was expecting. No amount of caution was enough, the children’s well being had to come first.
They could dive deeper into the conversation about the game later. For now, the prisoner mattered more.
"What’s up with this guy? Why does he look like this?"
"He is a prisoner, what else should he look like?"
She pointed to weather boy and strengthened her voice, "I am talking about the overalls and handcuffs."
"The handcuffs are mine, the uniform was bought cheaply on the fourth world. It has been opened again, if you want to take a look, you can do so. Let’s not waste time, we have to hand him over. I have solved the problem for you and made him a fool. I also wiped his memories so no matter who they bring, your battle with him remain only in your mind.
I have acquired information on Jack Cree and his dealings with the dark side. You can decide later if you want to go after him personally or hand the information over to the bureau. Your family is in the hidden city waiting for you, it has been over two hours already."
She stood up abruptly with the aim to get it over and done with. One worry had been dealt with but there were others left to handle. There was no time to sit around needlessly.
Out of the blue, she got the urge to vomit.
"The bathroom is to your left." The system elf lazily informed her.
She raced off quickly and hurled her guts out in bathroom sink. It had been a while since she last puked that she she had forgotten the feeling. Her stomach felt hollow when she was finished. She didn’t like the taste on her tongue so she got some toothpaste and brushed her teeth.
As she was brushing, she looked around the bathroom, it was similar to every luxury modern day bathroom, with a large shower jet system and large bathtub. The cabinet had all sorts of men’s products and it was impressively clean.
The gold toilet was quite the exaggeration, it was real solid gold too. All the mirrors inside inside were rather unusual as well. He was a narcissist that weather guy, she would never forget his declaration of being a god. He probably spent too much time admiring himself in the mirrors.
There was a knock on the door from outside.
"Let’s go, everyone is getting impatient." the system yelled.
She ended her inspection of the bathroom, it could wait for later. With ease, she threw weather boy over her right shoulder and withdrew the boundary she had put up to stop others from interfering in the fight.
When her feet touched the ground, she was surprised to find herself in the middle of a thick mist that had enveloped half of the city like a ghostly blanket. The air was cool, and visibility had greatly reduced. She could hear the murmurings of the system hosts on the ground that were still guarding faithfully as they waited for her hopeful return.
She picked up speed and run ahead quickly, following the sounds of their voices until she found them.
"I am back." she announced before they could see her.
She found them sitting in a circle as if they were at a camp fire. They had even gone so far as to raise tents, planning to keep guard for as long as they could.
Mantis was the first to stand up and run towards Alix, while shouting her name and scolding her in the same line.
"You crazy woman, how could you go off and fight that lunatic without us? Are you hurt? There were so many lightning bolts in the sky, did any of them hit you?" She saw a small red bruise on Alix’s cheek and gasped. "Where is he? Where did that ass hole go? How dare he touch our future president?"
Mantis was suddenly pushed aside by someone stronger, the captain. He was more composed than her and his clear eyes could see what her voluntary blind ones had missed: the lump on Alix’s shoulder.
He looked back and gestured for someone to come and take it from her. Alix was not hesitant, she surrendered it immediately.
The hood covering the head was taken off and his identity was confirmed. With the nod of a head, the captain was given confirmation.
"Good job." he said to her.
"I fulfilled my promise." she replied somberly.
There was no hint of bragging in her voice which impressed the captain. Others would be jumping around everywhere and sharing the news with anyone that cared to hear.
"Does he still have it?"
He was asking about weather boys’ system without exposing the fact that it was the information he sought.
She shrugged. "How should i know?"
To the captain, the answer was simply negative. That kind of cryptic answer which was neither a denial nor an admission was her kind of style when she didn’t want to admit something.
"Your money will be remitted in seven days." he turned to leave, he had said all he wanted.
Alix grabbed onto the back of his shirt, "Oh, i banged his head around a little too much. I don’t know if he will be able to make sense in interrogation. And what you are searching for, i found one."
The captain spun around immediately and grabbed her arm.
"Talk." he ordered harshly.
