Su Jincheng stood up and backed away. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

“Qiqi...”

Luo Qiqi turned away from him and said, “Go away. I don’t want to see you again!”

“You really don’t want to see me again?” Su Jincheng asked in disbelief.

Luo Qiqi laughed in self-mockery. “Yes. Well, at least I know that you’re still alive. Leave. I won’t see you again so that you can keep your promise!”

Su Jincheng hugged her from behind, surprising Luo Qiqi as he did so.

“I won’t give up on you. I’ll come back for you a year later, after I’ve finished repaying that debt to Yue Wuxin.”

“Do as you please!”

“It’s not entirely because of Yue Wuxin that I’m doing this. When I woke up two years ago, The Dark Night had already been overtaken by somebody else. I couldn’t return even if I wanted to at that point. They have instructions to kill me on sight if I’m found!”

He paused before continuing, “I’m not avoiding you. You’ll be in danger with me around, and I don’t ever want to put you in such a situation. Believe me when I say you’re the only one in my heart. I’ll make sure to keep my promise to you and come back to you a year later. We’ll be together after that, okay?”

He waited expectantly for Luo Qiqi’s answer.

Luo Qiqi seemed rather disoriented, but she eventually answered, “Fine, I can wait a year. Su Jincheng, I’ll really leave you this time if you disappoint me!”

Su Jincheng nodded. “Okay. You’ll leave me if I disappoint you!”

Luo Qiqi then fell silent.

Su Jincheng hugged her tight, but before he could say anything more, his mobile phone started ringing.

Luo Qiqi turned to look at him.

It was Yue Wuxin calling. Su Jincheng glanced at Luo Qiqi involuntarily.

Having already spotted the caller identification, Luo Qiqi said, “Answer it. Why are you looking at me?”

He then answered the call only to hear Yue Wuxin sounding extremely annoyed.

“Jincheng, did you go to that bar to look for that woman again? Didn’t you promise that you wouldn’t show yourself to her? You’re taking the opportunity to meet her whenever she’s drunk. I’m going to go back on my word now. You can’t reveal yourself to her and you can’t meet her either. I’m right outside her room now. Come out. We’ll go back together.”

Yue Wuxin’s voice was so loud that Luo Qiqi had heard everything.

Su Jincheng’s expression darkened.

“Yue Wuxin, I agreed to be your bodyguard for three years, not to sell my freedom to you. Don’t go too far!”

Hearing his tone of voice, Yue Wuxin retorted immediately.

“Jincheng, I know there’s not many things you care about. You know what? I’ll tell The Dark Night that you’re alive if you don’t go back with me now. I’ll tell them that you’re alive and you’re with Luo Qiqi. Isn’t she from Interpol? Isn’t she the princess in Sin Eliminators? No matter who she is now, she’d be the perfect target for The Dark Night! I’ll see what you do next! I’m going to wait for a maximum of two minutes. You know the consequences if you refuse to come out!”

Yue Wuxin spoke in a lower tone this time, and Luo Qiqi couldn’t really hear everything, but she knew that it couldn’t be good judging from Su Jincheng’s stormy expression.

“Wait there, I’m coming out!”

After ending the call, Su Jincheng grabbed Luo Qiqi’s phone and input his number in it.

“Qiqi, this is my number now. You can call me anytime. I need to go back to Russia with Yue Wuxin for now, but no matter what, don’t forget our promise. One year.”

He then turned to leave.

Luo Qiqi watched him with sorrow in her eyes.

Instead of feeling happy that Su Jincheng was alive, she felt dazed and confused instead.

Fine, isn’t it just one year? I’ll just take that time to travel and take a look at the world.

Su Jincheng saw Yue Wuxin leaning against the wall once he exited the room.

“What are you trying to do?”

“I just don’t want you to see her, that’s all. I can’t stand it.”

“It’s none of your business!”

“Then why did you come out?”

“I wouldn’t have if you didn’t threaten me!”

Su Jincheng frowned at Yue Wuxin as he spoke, but he just made her angrier.

“We’ve been together these past two years. Is our relationship worth nothing compared to that woman!”

“How can you even compare yourself to her? I’m fulfilling a promise to you. Yue Wuxin, please get this clear, or else don’t blame me for being impolite!”

Incensed, Yue Wuxin turned away.

“Fine. As a bodyguard, aren’t you supposed to follow me wherever I go? Su Jincheng, know your place!”

She then made her way out of the hotel.

Su Jincheng suddenly regretted the choices he made in the past. Yue Wuxin had other ideas about him, and because of that, their relationship was only made more complicated.

He followed Yue Wuxin out of the hotel.

They returned to Russia that very night.

The first thing Yue Wuxin did upon arrival was to go visit her mother.

Her mother told her that there were two ways to a man’s heart. The first was to travel with him and let him be attracted to you, while the other was to have good cooking skills.

As they all say, the key to a man’s heart was through his stomach.

Yue Wuxin, however, had never stepped into a kitchen.

She thus decided to go with the option of travel. She thought that everything would be fine as long as they avoided A City, and she even thought that Su Jincheng might be happier if they visited Emperor City since it was the capital of his homeland.

Never would she have expected for them to meet Luo Qiqi there.

What frustrated her even more was that Su Jincheng acted like an emotionless statue throughout their trip, refusing to say a single word. It was as if protecting Yue Wuxin was the only reason he was there with her.

Yue Wuxin hated it.

She dived into her mother’s arms when she arrived back home. “Mum, he’s totally ignoring me. Your suggestions didn’t work at all!”

Her mother, Song Xiaoxiao, gave her another suggestion right away.

“Seduce him then. There’s no man who can resist seduction. He’ll have to marry you if he touches you!”

Song Xiaoxiao gave that suggestion because she knew that people in Russia were more open-minded to begin with, and it wasn’t something she found taboo either.

Yue Wuxin was rather surprised at this.

“Mum, what if he still rejects me after that?”

Song Xiaoxiao said, “Drug him. It doesn’t matter since you guys will be together eventually anyway!”

Song Xiaoxiao smirked as she watched Yue Wuxin skip her way out with a smile.

It’s just too bad that Yue Wuxin isn’t my real daughter!

Six months ago, Song Xiaoxiao found out that her husband, Pedrov, had exchanged her baby daughter with the daughter he had with his mistress.
