Third Life Reincarnation: Finally Born Into a Magical World-Chapter 50: The Wolf Sky Mercenaries on the move (Part-3)
Without another word, Uncle Shi sprang forward, striking with a palm full of violent force.
He might be a servant, but he was still an Exalt.
The power of his strike howled through the air.
"Heh."
The masked warrior sneered. Instead of retreating, he raised his own palm and met the attack head-on.
Boom!
The collision shook the ground.
Both men staggered back three steps, evenly matched.
"What?"
Uncle Shi’s eyes widened in shock.
This man... was also an Exalt!
His gaze immediately swept over the rest of the masked figures. Only then did his heart sink.
Aside from the scarred man, whose strength was clearly at the Elite level, he could not see through anyone else.
Which meant only one thing.
Every one of them was an Exalt or higher.
In a city like Fengyue City, a single Exalt could dominate an entire faction. And now, over a dozen stood before him.
Who exactly were these people?
"Who are you?" Uncle Shi asked gravely.
"That’s none of your concern," the masked warrior replied calmly. "We don’t want trouble. Cooperate, let us check, and if you’re not who we’re looking for, you can leave."
"Looking for someone?" Uncle Shi paused, weighing the situation.
This was no longer something he could handle alone.
With so many powerful figures present, only his master could decide what to do.
"Wait here," Uncle Shi said. "I’ll inform my lord."
He turned and climbed back onto the carriage, lowering his voice as he reported the situation.
Outside, one of the masked men grew impatient.
"We don’t want to escalate things," he shouted. "Have your master come out and let us compare with the portrait. If it’s not him, we’ll let you go immediately."
A cold snort echoed from within the carriage.
Then the voice spoke again, slow and domineering.
"This is the Western Region, ruled by the Western Mansion. Not by insignificant dogs who block roads at will. No matter who you are or what power you belong to, you have no right to stop me."
"I have even less reason to meet you."
The words were heavy and commanding.
Despite knowing that the masked men were all Exalts, the person inside the carriage showed not the slightest fear or intention of compromise.
The tension on the Yangsha Ancient Road tightened like a drawn bowstring.
"So," the silver-robed warrior of the Wolf Sky Mercenary Corps narrowed his eyes, his voice turning icy, "are you planning to refuse a toast and insist on drinking the punishment?"
From inside the carriage came a furious rebuke. "I don’t drink wine at all. You dare threaten me? Who do you think you are!"
"Courting death!"
The silver-robed warrior exploded with rage. But instead of charging recklessly, he glanced sideways at Song Fengxi, who stood calmly among the masked men. After receiving Song Fengxi’s tacit approval, the warrior flashed forward like a shadow, lunging straight toward the beast carriage.
Just as he was about to leap up and tear open the carriage curtain—
A figure burst out from within.
The movement was lightning-fast.
A single punch followed.
Boom!
"Ah—!"
Despite having Exalt strength, the silver-robed warrior was sent flying like a broken sack. His body shot backward more than ten meters before crashing heavily to the ground, life or death unknown.
The figure who had struck retreated just as swiftly, vanishing back into the carriage as if nothing had happened.
The entire exchange was clean, elegant, and effortless, as though swatting a fly.
"Upper Exalt!"
The members of the Wolf Sky Mercenary Corps instantly reacted, their expressions changing.
Only an Upper Exalt could crush an Exalt so casually with one blow.
At that moment, Song Fengxi could no longer remain on the sidelines. He stepped forward, his gaze fixed on the carriage.
"May I ask who your lordship is?"
A cold snort came from inside.
"You dare ask me that? I should be the one questioning you! The entire Western Region falls under the authority of the Western Mansion. Yet you brazenly block the road here. Have you placed the Western Mansion in your eyes at all?"
"Oh?" Song Fengxi smiled faintly, unhurried. "Sir, don’t put such a heavy charge on us. We’re merely searching for someone. Besides, this isn’t the city. Even the Western Mansion doesn’t interfere in every stretch of wilderness, does it?"
"Regardless," the voice snapped back, "leave immediately. Do not gather here for your petty schemes. Otherwise, don’t blame me for expelling you myself!"
"Expel us?" Song Fengxi laughed softly. "And on what grounds—"
Before he could finish, Uncle Shi stepped forward and produced a token.
Etched clearly upon it were the words: Western Mansion.
Song Fengxi’s expression finally changed. "You’re from the Western Mansion?"
"Correct," the man inside said coldly as he stepped out of the carriage. "I am Wang Zongyao, Inner Governor of the Western Mansion. By appointment, I am serving as the examiner for Fengyue City’s qualification test."
His gaze sharpened like a blade. "Now that you know who I am, why haven’t you left?"
"Heh." Song Fengxi chuckled. Instead of retreating, he replied calmly, "We have no intention of opposing the Western Mansion. Since Governor Wang is here, we naturally won’t stop you from passing. Please go ahead. But as for us leaving—sorry. We’re waiting for something important."
"You!" Wang Zongyao’s eyes flared with anger. He hadn’t expected anyone to dare defy him even after revealing his identity.
He stepped fully out of the carriage at last.
Only now did everyone see him clearly.
A middle-aged man with a square face, plain in appearance, yet carrying an undeniable authority. The kind of person who commanded respect simply by standing there.
"You refuse to leave even after my warning?" Wang Zongyao said coldly. "Where does your confidence come from?"
Song Fengxi squinted and replied unhurriedly, "Because I am a Two-Star Upper Exalt, and you are only a One-Star Upper Exalt. If you weren’t from the Western Mansion, you’d already be explaining yourself here."
A stunned silence followed.
"Good," Wang Zongyao laughed bitterly. "A Two-Star Upper Exalt. Very impressive."
Since entering the Western Mansion, when had anyone dared speak to him like this?
Yet the people before him were all masked, their identities hidden. Even if he clashed with them here, the Western Mansion would have no leads afterward.
Wang Zongyao knew the reality.
Furious though he was, he could do nothing at this moment.
After a long breath, he turned to Uncle Shi. "Let’s go."
Song Fengxi smiled faintly and stepped aside, allowing the carriage to pass.
Just then—
Whoosh!
A figure streaked in from the distance, moving even faster than the three-headed horned beasts. His speed was dazzling, like a streak of light cutting across the road.
Behind him followed a small yellow-patterned beast, agile and swift, keeping pace with the youth effortlessly.
Chang Bo froze for a split second.
Then his eyes widened in delight.
"He’s here! Li Wei! That is him."
Song Fengxi lifted his gaze, surprise flashing across his face before a slow smile curled at the corner of his lips.
After waiting so long... the prey had finally arrived.
This credit would be his.
Meanwhile, Wang Zongyao, who had just been about to leave, halted and looked back at the scene unfolding. His brows knit together.
Such a massive formation... just to wait for a single young man?
Ryan’s speed and aura were indeed impressive, but still—Why would so many powerful figures gather for him alone? 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
Puzzled, Wang Zongyao ordered the carriage to stop at a distance and quietly observed.
