Chapter 34: Chapter 33: Spell Rune

After the battle of the Green Forest Tribe (Goblin Tribe).

The Goblin High Priest, a Level 5 Mage ’Kadan,’ became the third Dragon Vein Follower under Udi’s command and later rose to become the most powerful follower.

In that battle, if Udi hadn’t appeared at the last moment with a swift strike to end the combat, it would have definitely ended with a victory for the goblins, and a defeat for Shiji’s kobold side.

Now, the defeated Green Forest Tribe, under the leadership of the High Priest Kadan, has migrated to the Black Blood Valley.

According to statistics, in the Green Forest battle, 61 Dogman Warriors from the Black Blood Tribe perished, whereas 142 Goblin Warriors from the Green Forest Tribe died.

Both sides actually suffered heavy losses.

After all, the Black Blood Tribe had fewer than 200 young adult kobolds, losing nearly a third in one battle.

In contrast, the Green Forest Tribe had a total population of over 750, but females and young goblins made up half of it, with only about 300 adult Goblin Warriors.

It can be said that this battle resulted in the Green Forest Tribe losing nearly half of its young adult combat force in one go.

However, the only consolation for both tribes is that their true core combat strength was ultimately preserved.

The core combat strength of the Black Blood Tribe includes Leader Shiji, along with Mondo, Zaku, and Zameng, the three Forest Giant Demons—altogether four. The most heavily injured, Mondo, was barely pulled back from the brink of death.

The core combat strength of the Green Forest Tribe includes the High Priest Kadan and seven Big Goblin Warriors. These seven Big Goblin Warriors have a Biological Level of Level 2, and, being demons with strong physical qualities, though several have been severely beaten, they can recover their combat capabilities within a dozen days or so.

To sum up, although the losses from the battle seem heavy on both sides, they are actually not too significant.

After all, whether kobolds or goblins, they may have few advantages, but they are indeed proficient in reproduction.

Specifically, kobolds have slightly lesser reproductive abilities, but can still breed a litter usually once a month.

And goblins, whose reproductive ability is nearly maximized, can breed a litter every half month.

However, the above-mentioned reproductive speed must fulfill the prerequisite of having enough food. Without sufficient food, a decrease in reproductive speed is inevitable.

Time slowly passes by.

In the blink of an eye, more than half a month has passed.

Under the waterfall, in a makeshift Dragon Nest.

Udi opened his eyes.

Muttering a magic spell, three seconds later, a black light shot out from Udi’s Dragon Finger, striking a cannibal fish swimming in the water pool within the Dragon Nest.

The once lively and swimming cannibal fish instantly stopped moving upon being hit by the black light, turned belly up, and slowly floated to the water’s surface.

Dead.

Although the effect of the Weakness Technique states it drains energy, causing the target’s body to become weak, there’s a prerequisite condition.

Which is that the life force of the creature affected by the Weakness Technique Magic Effect cannot be too weak.

If it’s too weak, the energy will be completely drained, and with energy reduced to zero, death naturally follows.

Though cannibal fish appear fierce, they have no Level regarding the Biological Level, thus belonging to unranked creatures.

The Weakness Technique is a One-Ring Spell, hitting kobolds and goblins, such Level 0 creatures, spells death. Even hitting Big Goblins, Level 2 creatures, will render them feeble, reducing their strength to the lowest point.

"In 20 days, the One-Ring Weakness Technique is finally constructed." Udi slowly lowered his Dragon Finger aimed at the water pool, pondering in silence.

Magic indeed is difficult to learn.

The Caster profession truly demands a significant consumption of energy.

As a Black Dragon, and an advanced one at that, Udi possesses an immense magic power reservoir that ordinary beings don’t have. This innate advantage greatly assists Udi once he embarks on the profession of a Caster.

Assuming a human Level 1 Mage has a magic power reservoir of 100 points, Udi might have about 10,000 points.

Human casters have to frugally conserve a bit of magic power during combat to release one more spell, but Udi only needs to consider which spell effect is better or stronger.

Apart from magic power, the innate racial strength of dragons isn’t significantly advantageous in terms of learning speed or understanding the essence of magic.

Taking Black Dragons as an example, as Water Element True Dragons, learning Water Attribute Magic does provide a bonus—like faster learning speed and stronger Water Magic usage than other casters.

But this advantage is limited to the Water Element.

Other dragons, Red Dragons, Blue Dragons, Green Dragons, are the same. Learning magic aligned with their attribute grants twice the result with half the effort, yet studying unaligned magic isn’t significantly better than ordinary human casters, nor does it offer enhanced spell effect potency.

"Unfortunately, among the four spells Kadan knows, not one is of the Water Element. Instead, the strongest spell is Fire Element." Udi shook his head, closing his eyes again.

He refocused his attention back onto his spiritual world.

A gray transparent rune floated above the vast Sea of Spirit, emitting a faint glow. Under the illumination of the rune’s subtle light, the surrounding spiritual power seemed more lively.

This gray transparent rune is precisely the [One-Ring Weakness Technique].

The cultivation of casters, apart from years of refining external elements to gain control over more magic power, primarily focuses on the cultivation of spiritual power.

Enhancing spiritual power is one of the essential premises for increasing a caster’s Professional Level.

While there are many pathways to cultivate spiritual power, the mainstream method is through acquiring spell runes for training.

Every spell rune condensed within one’s spiritual world continuously tempers a caster’s spiritual power. The more spell runes condensed, the higher the Tier, the faster it will train and increase spiritual power.

Additionally, there’s a difference even within the same level of spell runes.

For instance, the newly mastered Weakness Technique spell rune by Udi is transparent, indicating he is still at a beginner level with this magic.

When the rune transitions from transparent to solid, it signifies mastery of this magic. The Master Level Weakness Technique rune offers several times the effect on training spiritual power compared to the Entry Level Weakness Technique rune.

If one could submerge the solidified rune into the Sea of Spirit, that represents the caster reaching the highest magical realm of Returning to Truth with that spell.

Returning to Truth Level spellcasting typically features instantaneous casting.

In addition to instant casting, spiritual power tempering is significantly enhanced, the spell’s power is greatly increased, and the magic power consumption for casting the spell is substantially reduced.
