On the third day, within the territory of the Northern Frost Wolves, beside a small river.

A figure stealthily emerged from the forest, quickly approached the riverbank using large leaves to scoop up some water, then steadied their upper body, moving swiftly back toward the forest.

Maneuvering around a few trees and through some bushes, a giant wolf lay on its side on the ground, its chest and abdomen gently rising and falling, covered in scars, eyes tightly shut.

It was none other than Old Lavi and the Northern Frost Wolf Victor!

"Victor my lord! Victor my lord!" Old Lavi squatted down, bringing the leaf full of water to Victor's mouth, calling softly.

Victor's wolf ears twitched slightly, then instinctively extended his tongue to lick the moisture.

However, Victor, though merely a youngster compared to other Northern Frost Wolves, managed to drain the few mouthfuls of water that would have been enough for Old Lavi in no time.

"More... still need more..." Victor whimpered softly.

So Old Lavi, once again clutching the leaves, quietly went back to fetch more water.

After several such repetitions, Victor was finally satiated.

After quenching Victor's thirst, Old Lavi also weakly sat on the ground, panting, his face covered in sweat from the exertion, but nonetheless, he gazed at the prone figure beside him with a satisfied smile.

How did they survive these past three days?

Through a gauntlet of perilous trials!

He used to watch movies, thinking some of the things in them were way too thrilling and exciting.

Yet Old Lavi, having experienced it himself, realized reality was many times more exhilarating than anything on screen!

After enduring three days of pursuit, both Old Lavi and Victor underwent a transformation, forming a bond more akin to comrades or friends, rather than a simple top-down relationship.

It was like a lord and their steward.

Of course, this change was primarily within Old Lavi.

He initially harbored no goodwill toward Victor, merely wanting to make use of him from the start.

But after just three days of interaction, he was moved by Victor's sincerity.

It felt like a rejuvenation of youth; Old Lavi felt a renewed sense of vitality in Victor's presence.

Passion, fervor, and an indomitable spirit!

These were awakened within Old Lavi through Victor's repeated life-saving sacrifices.

For Victor, having gone from a life of luxury to one akin to a fallen house, he appreciated how someone like Old Lavi, who valued none of his material wealth, was so wonderful.

Old Lavi undoubtedly saw something in him!

He was a talented individual, which is why Old Lavi was willing to follow him!

Victor agreed with him wholeheartedly.

Thus, the two helped and supported one another.

Relying on what he learned from television, Old Lavi used his experience to constantly assist Victor by filling in the gaps and evading his cousins' pursuit.

Victor, with his magical items and numerous treasures, coupled with his status as a level five practitioner, managed to escape capture time and again.

Old Lavi was familiar with the concept of space items, though they were typically reserved for the elite, it was something he saw on TV.

Over these three days, Victor used a lot from his collection of space rings, and Old Lavi feared Victor might've depleted his resources by now.

Because Victor had already fainted twice today!

Moreover, it was due to them falling into the river this time that he fell unconscious.

If not for Old Lavi having fished for sustenance in the river in his youth, they might not have survived.

Fortunately, they pulled through.

Furthermore, they weren't far from the border city of the Northern Frost Wolves, where they would catch a transport heading to Sun Radiance City!

However, they've gone a whole day without food.

Already weakened, Old Lavi patted his stomach and forced himself to stand.

"Victor, I'll go see if there's anything to eat. Don't run off when you wake up." Old Lavi nonchalantly picked up a stick and hunched forward.

This was just a small forest, devoid of magical beasts; otherwise, Old Lavi wouldn't dare hunt alone.

Based on the prior timings, at least Victor's cousins wouldn't catch up before dusk, so there were two to three hours remaining according to the daylight.

Enough time to start a fire and roast some meat!

Along the way, Old Lavi didn't forget to identify the surrounding plants, checking for any edible ones, collecting them if possible.

After over half an hour of circling, Old Lavi found only a few fruits, with not an animal in sight, not even a snake.

So he brought these fruits back, placing them by Victor's mouth when he found him still unconscious, then continued the search.

He hadn't been searching for long when, just as he spotted a wild rabbit, a voice echoed from a distance.

"Haha! Wretched human!"

It was Victor's cousin!

"The abomination and human are in this forest! Brother, come quickly!"

Victor's cousin howled into the distance, prompting Old Lavi to turn and make a mad dash without looking back.

Meanwhile, he gasped and shouted as he ran: "Victor, run! Victor! Run!"

Given his age, coupled with hunger and exertion, it made him dizzy with exhaustion.

He hadn't strayed far from where Victor was unconscious, so the more he shouted, the more likely Victor might escape!

As for him?

He trusted Victor wouldn't leave him behind; the child wasn't someone who abandoned friends.

Even if he did, it didn't matter; these days had been more thrilling than his previous decades, plus he made a noble Northern Frost Wolf friend, which was enough even if from a side branch!

"Haha! Scream? A human's voice is most pleasing when it's a wail!"

Victor's female cousin charged forward at lightning speed.

As Old Lavi's pace faltered, a white blur swooped to his side, grabbing him and tossing him onto its back.

"You're awake?" Old Lavi nearly burst into tears.

"Those fruits you picked taste terrible," Victor weakly replied, then, entwining the wind element around his four legs, he sped off into the distance.

"Victory's right ahead, keep going, Victor!" Old Lavi, now accustomed to riding Victor, gazed intently at the road ahead, cheering him on.

"Swoosh!!!"

"Victory's right ahead!" Victor panted slightly, then leaped forward, bursting out of the forest and into the wilds.

On the horizon was a dark speck, the border city!

Indeed!

Not far now!

Victor's muscles tensed, accelerating further.

Yet at this moment, the two Northern Frost Wolves behind them closed in.

Victor's cousins!

Initially, their pursuit was slow, but today they found them quickly because they had also guessed Victor's destination.

Which was—Sun Radiance City!

"We mustn't let them pass!"

"It's a treasure beyond measure!"
