Those Classmates who Suddenly Disappeared-Chapter 56 - Start Hitting People
56: Chapter 56: Start Hitting People
56 -56: Start Hitting People
When it got dark, Gu Fan and his group began their operation.
Like last time, they all went hiking together.
The mountain path wasn’t complicated and since this wasn’t their first time, they quickly reached their destination.
Jie used a crowbar to pry open the door of the secret chamber.
Then he maneuvered the drone inside.
Everything went smoothly, but the cold night wind made everyone shiver.
The occasional strange bird calls coming from the forest were also quite spooky.
Although the chamber was pitch black, the drone could shine some light.
Jie did his best to quickly capture every corner of the room.
The strange patterns might hold some information.
While everyone waited for Jie to finish and kept a lookout for their surroundings, Lu Yi couldn’t help but voice out, “Nothing has happened so far, and it’s really quiet, but everything feels weird.
Things are going too smoothly, don’t you expect something to happen?”
Gu Fan mockingly replied, “You doomsayer, what do you reckon should happen?
That a seductive fox spirit appears from nowhere and bewitches you?”
“If only a fox spirit could really come and bewitch me”, Lu Yi pondered dreamily, “Imagine how beautiful that would be if such spirits actually existed in this world.”
Su Hui snapped at him, “Trust me, the sight of a fox spirit opening its bloody mouth to eat you wouldn’t be the least bit beautiful.”
“Sister Su, you’re really great at crushing my fantasies,” responded Lu Yi.
Just as he finished speaking, they heard a noise behind them in the forest.
Everyone instantly broke out in cold sweats as cries of alarm erupted from the forest.
“Who’s there?” Gu Fan shouted.
Clearly, someone was hiding in the forest, but Su Hui rushed in without a care to see what was happening.
“Lu Yi, Lin Xi, stay here with Jie.
Don’t wander off.” Gu Fan, not quite trusting Su Hui to be alone, quickly followed her.
He too had a feeling that this expedition wouldn’t go so smoothly, especially not in the dark of the night.
When Su Hui and Gu Fan reached the spot, they were stunned.
There were two groups of people in a standoff in the forest.
One dressed in masked jackets and military boots, looking somewhat like special agents, and the other dressed ordinarily, with nothing but a piece of cloth masking their lower faces.
Both groups seemed caught off guard by the unexpected encounter, resulting in an awkward standoff.
When they saw Su Hui and Gu Fan approach, they became even more shocked.
Gu Fan noticed that both groups had more people than his.
He whispered to Su Hui, “Sister Su, how many people do you think you can take on?”
“Not sure, but not many.
It’s not too late to retreat now, is it?” Even Su Hui was considering pulling out, which greatly disheartened Gu Fan.
What if a fight broke out?
Someone from one group suddenly yelled, “Look, they have the key!” Instantly, the two groups charged at each other and a brawl ensued.
Gu Fan and Su Hui were stupefied.
“They started fighting just like that.
They’re totally ignoring the rules!”
“What should we do, Sister Su?
Can we just skedaddle?” Gu Fan looked at Su Hui for advice, having faith in her judgement as a policewoman.
Su Hui nodded, “Sometimes it’s better to not get involved in things unnecessarily.
Plus, I, as a cop, advise you that it’s not right to join in a group fight.”
“Oh, you make such good sense.” As Gu Fan was about to make a strategic retreat, he noticed something.
Both of the fighting groups were targeting a person from the defensive team who clutched something tightly in his hands.
The attacking team was fiercely trying to snatch the object, while the other defended it with all their might.
Gu Fan decided to wait and see how things unfolded.
Su Hui agreed.
They were both curious to know why these two factions were fighting over.
Could it really be some kind of treasure key, as someone just yelled?
Both groups fought fiercely for a while, stretching out the battleground.
The defending party managed to protect the key holder while retreating, while the attackers continued to pursue them relentlessly.
Su Hui and Gu Fan quietly followed, until the attacking group finally managed to snatch the key from the defenders through great efforts.
Su Hui, sense timing was ripe, broke into a sprint.
“God, a little heads up would have been nice.” Gu Fan of course had to follow, and both rushed towards the masked man now holding the key.
Su Hui quickly caught up with the man and grabbed his arm.
She deftly flipped him over her shoulder and then twisted his arm, forcing him to loosen his grip and surrender the key.
Gu Fan picked up the key and examined it.
It didn’t look like a modern key.
It seemed more like some ancient artifact, not valuable looking, yet it had incited such a violent frenzy among the two groups.
“What are you waiting around for?
We’ve got the key, now scram!” Su Hui yelled as she started to run.
Gu Fan saw the men chasing after them, their faces full of murderous intent.
He knew trouble was brewing, so he rushed off as well.
They had been fighting for so long, and now these two swoop in and steal their spoils?
Who could stand that?
However, because both sides had been fighting for quite some time, and we’re tired and in pain, some men had fallen behind in the chase.
Just when Gu Fan and Su Hui were about to shake off these men, a figure suddenly roadblocked them.
“My God, here comes another one.” Gu Fan felt that this guy could be a problem, but Su Hui was unphased, reasoning that since there was only one, there was no need to be panic-stricken, and they might as well charge forth.
The other few masked men who caught up were gasping for breath, but managed to call out, “Boss, the key is with them.”
The masked man referred to as the boss gestured with his hand, signaling them to remain calm; he would handle this situation.
“Did you hear that?
He’s the boss, must be a tough one,” Gu Fan whispered, but Su Hui was still dismissive, “I couldn’t care less if he is boss or not.
Give me a minute, and we’ll be out of here.”
Hearing this, Gu Fan quickly gave Su Hui a thumbs up, admiring her tenacity as though she was the best fighter in the world.
Without another word, Su Hui took the lead, launching a series of punches; her attack was fierce.
After several bouts with Su Hui, Gu Fan knew how powerful she was, he himself had never been able to fully block her moves.
But just because Gu Fan couldn’t do it, didn’t mean others couldn’t.
The so-called masked man boss raised his arms and moved his feet, as though predicting Su Hui’s every punch, one by one he blocked or evaded them.
“That’s impressive, no wonder he’s the boss.” Gu Fan was a little taken aback watching this.
Even Su Hui was somewhat in disbelief, her overly eager attack had left an opening.
The boss saw this opportunity, took a step forward and rammed his large body into Su Hui’ side, striking her arm and pushing her back several steps.
Seeing Su Hui lose her footing, the boss surged forward again.
But at the crucial moment, Su Hui halted her recoil, revealing that her previous blunders were all part of her strategy to bait her opponent.
This time Su Hui rightly calculated her adversary’s attack, immediately launching a powerful kick into his body.
Gu Fan couldn’t resist praising her for how beautifully executed her attack was.
However, the opponent was considerably larger and stronger, completely undeterred by the kick.
Instead, the recoil pushed Su Hui back, making her retreat several steps.
Now it was the opponent’s turn to unleash a flurry of punches.
His attack was extraordinarily brutal and his movement swift, progressively gaining advantage over Su Hui.
Punch after punch, despite Su Hui putting up a good fight, she struggled to keep up with the opponent’s ferocity.
She was equally nimble, but the opponent was undeniably stronger.
After blocking several punches, Su Hui somehow managed to keep standing, but she shook her hands realizing how painful they were.
It was clear that a direct fist fight wouldn’t allow Su Hui to prevail over the opponent.
Therefore, she decided to change her strategy.
As she anticipated his punch, she quickly grasped his hand and then to lock him in a chokehold with her legs around his neck.
However, the masked boss seemed to have foreseen Su Hui’s move as he shielded himself just as she leapt forward, leaving her plan foiled.
Yet, Su Hui held tightly onto his arm, refusing to give in.
With one move failing, she prepared to break his arm with another.
The boss, remarkably strong, twirled his arm, spinning Su Hui along with it, manipulating her to spin in the air and then slamming her onto the ground.
Bitting down on her teeth, Su Hui managed to grab the boss’s collar on the way down, using the momentum of her fall to unbalance him.
She quickly snapped her legs around his head, rolling him over with a tumble.
Although Su Hui’s counterattack was spectacular, the impact of the fall still greatly affected her, yet she continued to fight bravely.
Seizing the moment while the opponent hadn’t yet gotten up, she hammered her fist into his face repeatedly.
For a moment, the boss could only desperately protect his face with his hands but couldn’t entirely avoid taking a few hits.
Eventually, he managed to kick Su Hui away and clumsily rise to his feet.
After several rounds of such intense fight, Gu Fan watched with a sinking heart.
Su Hui was still slightly on the losing side.
Previously, it was invariably her presiding over others with her gallant vigor, it was rare to see someone best Su Hui.
As the standoff continued, a man ran over and said, “We are in trouble, boss.
They are outnumbering us, if we don’t go now, we don’t stand a chance.”
“Got it, we’re retreating.” Having said, the masked boss signaled, and all the masked men retreated immediately.
Only Gu Fan and Su Hui remained, baffled by the sudden turn of events.
