Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!-Chapter 160: His Pupils Are Your Copy
Lachlan Wyatt looked at the little thing that suddenly appeared in front of him, still curious. It seemed like he was pressing down his hat brim to appear mysterious. Didn’t want others to see his face?
"What are you, a little kid, doing here?"
In a rare move, Lachlan Wyatt left Evelyn Rowan aside and squatted down to look at Felix Crawford in front of him.
The large brim of the hat covered most of Felix Crawford’s face, leaving only his round, upturned little nose visible. The child said in a childish voice, "I’m inviting you, tonight, to my house for dinner!"
After speaking, the child took out an invitation from his pocket in a serious manner, "Here, this is the invitation."
Even the usually stern Leo Langdon was amused by Felix Crawford’s cute actions. This kid was a genius, even mimicking adults by handing out invitation cards.
"What’s going on?"
Lachlan Wyatt surprisingly still had patience, though he didn’t quite know where it came from. "What day is today?"
At this, Felix Crawford puffed his cheeks in anger, "Today is my birthday, and you must come!"
Lachlan Wyatt laughed, and then he started pondering the name Felix Crawford. The surname was Crawford. Could he be the illegitimate child of Orion Crawford, that old schemer?
But before Lachlan Wyatt could say anything, Evelyn Rowan came up and grabbed Felix Crawford by the back of his collar, lifted him, and placed him to the side. "Tonight, Young Master Wyatt is having dinner with me. His father invited both of us to the old house for a gathering."
Felix Crawford immediately let out a pitiful sound, "I clearly invited first..."
"I am Young Master Wyatt’s fiancée."
Evelyn Rowan referred to herself as the fiancée, which was an accepted fact throughout the company. She proudly raised her head and curled her lips, "Tonight, Lachlan will only go with me. You can take your invitation back."
"Is she really your fiancée?"
The child ignored Evelyn Rowan and turned his head to look at Lachlan Wyatt.
Although his eyes were covered and unclear, Lachlan Wyatt felt that the expression under Felix Crawford’s hat was pitiful.
Like a little stray dog.
A man known for his iron-fisted control was inexplicably melted by this gaze.
Feeling irritable, Lachlan Wyatt stepped forward and put the invitation into his pocket, responding to Felix Crawford, "Okay, then I’ll go with you today. Where’s your house?"
"Just clock out after work, my companion is waiting for me outside."
Felix Crawford blinked, "That’s settled then!"
So obedient!
Illogically, Lachlan Wyatt let a little kid lead him by the nose, agreeing absentmindedly without even clarifying the child’s specific identity.
He didn’t know what came over him, usually annoyed by mischievous kids. Yet, seeing Felix Crawford, he felt a strange sense of familiarity and cuteness.
Seeing Felix Crawford happily bounce away after Lachlan Wyatt agreed, Evelyn Rowan felt extremely aggrieved, pointing at Felix Crawford, "Didn’t we agree with Dad to go back together earlier?"
"He’s my dad, not yours."
Lachlan Wyatt’s voice was somewhat indifferent, "Don’t act so familiar."
Evelyn Rowan said pitifully, "But I was appointed as your fiancée by Dad. Why can’t I call him that?"
"Who cares about you."
Felix Crawford seemed to mutter a childish retort, so familiar in tone that Lachlan Wyatt’s eyelids twitched.
Darn, he even thought it was Iris Crawford using a voice changer to speak.
That all-too-familiar sarcastic tone...
Evelyn Rowan was stunned. How could this kid be so polite to Lachlan Wyatt, then turn and say something like that?
She unexpectedly felt a sense of hostility. Could it be because she called him a brat earlier, and he held a grudge?
To show her magnanimity and grace, Evelyn Rowan bit her lip, ignoring Felix Crawford, watching him leave, and looked tearfully at Lachlan Wyatt, "We agreed earlier. If you don’t go, I’ll be humiliated in front of Dad. Lachlan... please help me."
However, Lachlan Wyatt was still dazed by Felix Crawford’s tone earlier.
Five years had passed, and Lachlan Wyatt could only attribute his recent feelings to an illusion. Then, his eyes turned cold again as he looked at Evelyn Rowan, saying, "Let’s do it another time."
Another time?
Evelyn Rowan’s heart leaped with joy. Lachlan Wyatt was offering a concession, which meant he might agree later to find a time to go.
So, to show her virtue while knowing she shouldn’t push too hard, Evelyn Rowan twirled a lock of her hair with her finger, shyly saying to Lachlan Wyatt, "Then, then I’ll keep you company for a while, leave later, and come find you in a few days."
Lachlan Wyatt didn’t respond, and Evelyn Rowan followed behind him. The entire company knew she was the woman next to Young Master Wyatt, although they had no public intimate gestures, everyone believed it to be so.
Lachlan Wyatt’s mind was full of the mysterious child from earlier. Once back, he had Leo Langdon investigate the child’s background, but nothing came up.
Feeling particularly impatient in the office, the man continued waiting until the end of the workday. When he went outside, Evelyn Rowan was still there. Seeing him come down, she stood up to follow him. But before she could call out, a child outside the company building shouted through a megaphone, "Young Master Wyatt! Look here!"
Lachlan Wyatt was surprised and looked up towards the outside of the company. Parked by the road was a Rolls-Royce. When the window rolled down, there sat a young man in short sleeves, looking quite young, with a fair face.
Lachlan Wyatt squinted and saw a child in the back seat also poking his head out, waving the little megaphone, "Over here! Get in the car!"
Lachlan Wyatt laughed, ignoring Evelyn Rowan’s calls from behind as he opened the car door and got in.
A child around five or six years old being picked up in a Rolls-Royce...
After getting in the back seat, Lachlan Wyatt became curious about this child’s identity, "I didn’t expect the companion picking me up to be such a grand spectacle."
"The spectacle has to be big," Felix Crawford kicked his short legs and said, "Let me introduce you. In front is the brother who always plays with me, almost a whole zodiac cycle older than me. His name is Shane Lawson."
Shane Lawson looked like he might still be in high school, at the age where he wanted to act cool. Upon hearing his name, he gave a particularly rebellious gesture, "Yo, nice to meet you for the first time."
Two boastful kids.
Lachlan Wyatt chuckled helplessly, "And what about you? Where are you taking me for dinner?"
"Today is my birthday."
Felix Crawford’s head still had the hat on. Lachlan Wyatt didn’t understand why he was used to wearing a hat even inside the car. Just then, Felix Crawford took off the hat in front of him, used his little chubby hand to ruffle his hair, and lifted his face to Lachlan Wyatt, articulating slowly, "I want my dad to celebrate my birthday with me, so I ’kidnapped’ you."
For an instant, it felt like his heart was heavily struck.
Lachlan Wyatt felt as if his blood flowed backwards. He held his breath, looking at the child in disbelief.
Felix Crawford had always worn a large hat, the brim pulled down to cover most of his face, but now...
Facing him, staring directly, was...a pair of youthful, heterochromatic eyes.
No wonder he wore a hat...
Was he afraid of being called a monster?
Lachlan Wyatt’s hands were shaking, "Say your name again, what’s your name?"
"My name is Felix Crawford." Felix blinked, "You don’t even recognize your own son, you scumbag!"
Crash!
It was as if a thunderbolt struck Lachlan Wyatt’s head, the dashing man stared at Felix’s face in shock, and after hearing what he said, his whole body started trembling uncontrollably.
"You..."
Lachlan reached out to touch Felix’s face, "You’re my...son?"
Felix grinned mischievously, "You’re actually using a question, it seems even the mighty Young Master Wyatt can be clueless sometimes!"
Lachlan felt like a firework launched high into the sky, exploding into pieces, all thought processes removed, staring dumbly at his son in front of him, "Were you born abroad?"
"Yes."
Felix proudly patted his chest, "But my nationality isn’t foreign! My mom and uncle are very patriotic, so I have the same nationality as my mom, but my dad’s nationality is foreign."
"Your dad..." hearing his own son refer to someone else as father made Lachlan uncomfortable, "You mean First Prince Dante?"
"That’s right."
Felix blinked, "On the registration book, he is my father, so legally I’m not wrong to call him dad, am I, Young Master Wyatt?"
Why call Dante dad and him only Young Master Wyatt?
The difference was too great.
Lachlan had countless emotions in his chest and didn’t know how to vent them, he had so much to say but was at a loss for where to begin.
"Does your mother know you came to find me?"
"Of course my mom doesn’t know!"
Felix reached out to poke Lachlan, "If my mom knew I was getting along with you, she’d definitely drag me back home for a beating!"
Lachlan said, both angry and amused, "Why? Aren’t you my son?"
"Mom doesn’t want me to get close to you, and from the time I was born until now, she hasn’t said anything! If I hadn’t found out, I might still think someone else was my biological father."
Damn it! Iris Crawford was too heartless! She didn’t even tell the child the truth!
Lachlan felt both sour and pained, "Then why did you come to find me now?"
"Because I found out you are my biological father by blood." Felix’s eyes were so bright, big and beautiful, with long eyelashes, even the color of his pupils was identical to Lachlan’s.
"See, I contacted Shane Lawson, and he brought me to find you." Felix’s eyes darted around, "Today is my birthday, you owe me five birthday cakes, because you weren’t there for any of my past birthdays!"
Lachlan’s eyes were slightly reddened, and his voice was strained, "Alright, no matter how many...I’ll pay..."
"Also, we have to keep in touch secretly, without my mom knowing."
Felix pressed his finger to his lips, "If my mom gets upset..."
Lachlan’s eyes darkened.
"Is she happy with your father... Dante, the First Prince, these five years?"
"What kind of answer do you want?"
Felix was even more clever than Lachlan, he asked in return, and then added a twist, "My mom is a very strong person, she takes good care of herself even after leaving you, asking such a question is meaningless, after all, you two are already apart."
A child’s few words are often straightforwardly innocent but also the cruelest.
Lachlan clenched his fingers, "So this time only you came back, your mom didn’t?"
"Yeah, I told mom I was coming back to attend a summer camp with Shane Lawson, so I asked Steven to be my bodyguard and come over first."
Steven Rhodes?
He’s really patient, five years and still by Iris’s side as an assistant.
"Wow, we’re almost there!"
Lachlan was still thinking when Felix suddenly pointed forward, "Look! That’s where we’re eating today."
Isn’t that the Crawford Family home!
Did Orion Crawford already get word?
Lachlan instinctively felt something bad was about to happen, and sure enough, the moment the car stopped, two men burst out the door.
Orion Crawford shouted, "Nephew! My dear nephew! Get out and let me hug you!"
The other man was Francis Lockwood, beyond just handsome, who came up and pulled his son out of the car, "You brat, driving my car without a license, dare to pick up Felix, what if something happens, how do I explain to the Crawford Family! How about you crash to death, you little punk!"
Shane’s ear was being pulled by Francis, "I was born by you, no need to insult yourself!"
"You little bastard!"
That was just the start, Francis scolded Shane and, pointing to Lachlan’s forehead in the backseat, said, "And you, the adult! Lachlan, are you brainless? Letting a kid drive, were your hands tied, or did Felix hold a gun to you? Did you just watch him drive? What if something happens! Why didn’t you grab the wheel!"
Damn!
Lachlan, angry and frustrated, laughed, "How was I supposed to know your son didn’t have a license!"
Francis said, "If my son could get a license, that’d be a miracle! He’s an idiot with an IQ of 250!"
Shane: "Bullshit, I was a child prodigy!"
Francis nearly kicked Shane, dragging him towards Orion’s villa, "William Thorne taught you this, right? Blame him for setting an example when he was young, making all of you learn the bad and none of the good!"
Felix and Lachlan: "..."
