Thousands of Brilliant Stars: You Deserve the Best!-Chapter 167: I Won’t Shed Tears for You Anymore
Hearing Lachlan Wyatt’s words, Iris Crawford subconsciously felt a tightening in her chest.
Yet, even then, she could perfectly manage her emotions, as if over the past five years, Lachlan had become fragile, while she had somehow turned herself into a robot.
Forcing herself to suppress the rising feelings in her chest, Iris blinked and smiled at Lachlan, saying, "It’s great, hearing that you’re unhappy makes me especially happy."
Lachlan’s breath hitched.
Five years ago, he was only thinking about how to humiliate Iris, how to hurt her heart, condemning her for her unscrupulous means to marry into The Royal Family, but Lachlan never considered that if there was a hidden truth, how on earth could he take back those sharp words he uttered...
The way Iris speaks to him now is not surprising.
Anyone in her position wouldn’t want to be labeled like that, especially the proud and dignified Iris.
Lachlan looked at Felix Crawford tightly held in Iris’s hands, likely because Iris feared Lachlan would take Felix away?
The man’s expression remained indifferent, expressing no other feelings, but he spoke with sarcasm, "From the sound of it, you’d really wish me dead."
"Go ahead."
Iris remained unfazed, "Don’t ask me, if you want to die, just do it. I won’t shed a single tear for you."
The tears she should have shed were already gone five years ago.
After all, she was nothing more than a snake-hearted woman in his eyes, so what’s the point of maintaining any goodwill between them.
Lachlan, meeting Jordan Jacobs was my calamity, meeting you was an even greater misfortune.
Lachlan felt an electric current rush through his chest, five years of absence led to such a strong rejection from Iris, clearly showing that these five years haven’t changed his loathing for her one bit.
Iris, over the past five years, you must have really hated me.
Lachlan and Iris stopped talking, and everyone else in the car fell into silence too, after a moment Felix gently tugged on James Chesterton’s sleeve and asked, "My mom said you used to look after me when I was little, but in recent years you haven’t been around, what’s everyone been up to these years?"
This served as a good start, prompting the agency members to help steer the conversation.
Sarah Shaw was guiding Peach while saying, "Peach even got her veterinary certificate, now she can perform surgery on humans and animals."
"That’s amazing!" 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Felix applauded Peach and neatly braided her hair, making Peach grin ear to ear, and then the little boy asked, "What about you, Sarah?"
"I..." Sarah pointed at herself, "I played games for five years."
"..." Felix pouted, "Did you not think about finding a boyfriend in these five years?"
Sarah bashfully scratched her head saying, "I’m a non-marriage advocate, my family’s marriage pressure is too much, I don’t like it, so I’ve decided not to marry as a form of resistance."
"Didn’t they force you to go on blind dates?"
"Yes." Sarah seriously told Felix, "But I messed up every blind date, even though the other party was always the young master of top hundred enterprises."
On the side, Martin Hawthorne crossed his arms and said, "At this rate, they’ll worry themselves sick over you."
"Then let them worry." Sarah shrugged, meaning she had given up, "With society advancing rapidly, people’s mindsets will change in time, even if I’m sixty and unmarried, I shouldn’t face oppression or discrimination."
Felix liked the members of the agency very much. As Iris had told him, the members had looked after him for a period when he was little, so he instinctively felt close to them, some skills were even taught to him by the agency members. Although Iris isn’t much older now, Felix is already much smarter than ordinary kids.
Without Lachlan in the past five years, Felix has grown rapidly.
Peach drove the car to the airport, spotting The Kingdom of L’s private plane and sighed, "Birdie, are you really leaving again?"
It’s rare to return to the country, and now to depart like this...
Moreover, she and Lachlan haven’t even sat down for a proper talk, five years ago they parted with misunderstandings, Iris hastily got married, who knows how much impact that had on Lachlan, now seeing each other again, why not clear things up?
Iris shook her head, holding her child as she got out of the car, "Thank you for driving me."
"Protect Felix well abroad, I heard Jonas Kingsley hasn’t returned in years." James Chesterton looked worried, "Also, Seraphina misses you, are you rushing back? Why not meet her for a while."
Iris was about to step onto the plane when she heard James mention "Seraphina," causing her heart to soften suddenly.
Felix sided with him, "The name sounds familiar, you mention it often, don’t you, mom? Steven Rhodes told me you have a few girlfriends here, and she’s one of them!"
Iris hugged Felix saying, "Yes."
Felix kicked around in Iris’s arms, "I want to meet her! I want to meet everyone related to mom! Introduce me, mom, I want to meet your girlfriends!"
Iris helplessly held Felix, "But we have to go back."
"The agency members haven’t left yet!" Felix pointed to the group not far away who were giving him thumbs up, sticking out his tongue, "Mom, you said when I was born they often flew abroad to care for me, now that I can care for myself, I haven’t properly thanked them yet. Today they helped again, leaving like this isn’t right."
Felix was actually helping them persuade Iris to stay.
Iris could only resist hard tactics, seeing her son speak like this, she finally turned around and headed back.
Watching her come back, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, smiling as they stepped up to take Felix from her arms.
James stretched out to give Felix a high five, "Leaving it to you to persuade mom!"
After high-fiving James, Felix walked over to Lachlan, his face full of a look that said "see, your son helped you out," Lachlan smiled bittersweetly, touching his face, "Thank you."
"Talk to mom properly about the misunderstanding."
Felix patted Lachlan, then returned to Iris, "Mom, how about we have dinner with these friends tonight? I can’t remember much from childhood, I’d love to hear their stories!"
Felix’s thoughts were so comprehensive that everyone relied on him, a five-year-old child, to smooth things over.
He always squinted his eyes, smiling innocently, but... is that really so?
Felix, is your gaze clear enough to peer into your soul?
Martin Hawthorne glanced at Lachlan, then at Felix, with a complex expression, trailing at the end of the group until Iris got back in the car, her phone rang.
A look, it turned out to be an international call.
"What’s going on? Saying you’re not coming back again? The plane has already landed waiting to pick you up!"
Upon answering, a familiar voice came through, it was Dante.
He was anxious, his tone not too cordial.
Actually, he was afraid.
Iris, because this city, it has Lachlan in it.
Would you, not return?
At the moment Dante grabbed the phone and rudely said to Iris, "Wouldn’t want to stay in your country and forget to come back! Don’t forget our marriage agreement is still not over!"
Iris sneered, less fond of others showing attitude unprovoked, her personality exactly the same as five years ago, capable of smashing an ashtray at Lachlan’s head without blinking.
"Yes! Send The Royal’s agents to drag me back then!"
Lachlan was taken aback.
The interaction between Dante and Iris... not at all like they’ve been married for a long time, how have they been living these past five years?
