Mike’s POV

"I can’t do this. Please stop."

I couldn’t believe Valerie.

How could she tell me to stop when I was about to burst from desire.

I wanted to do things to her. Things no one else could even do to her body.

I knew that she wanted me to do those things too.

Her wet honey pot was clear evidence of that.

But why did she ask me to stop? Why would she stop me at the most critical moment?

Her expression turned serious so fast she didn’t look like the same woman who had just been moaning under me with an etherealed expression on her beautiful face.

I looked down at her in confusion.

Even though she had averted her eyes, I could still see how beautiful she was.

Valerie replied.

This time she looked more serious.

"Why?" I didn’t want to stop.

I hadn’t felt what I felt touching Valerie before.

Even though I have slept with Innocent countless times, I have never felt so out of control and I have never felt that everyone I was doing was so right.

It felt as if I had finally reached home. As if the place I truly belong was in Valerie’s arms.

However, this wonderful feeling was interrupted because for some reason, Valerie didn’t want to continue.

"Nothing. I just am not ready for this. Please leave."

Well, not only had she stopped me halfway, she was also kicking me off her bed.

"You need to fulfill your duties as my mate."

I regretted the words as soon as they left my mouth, but there was no taking them back.

I watched as Valerie’s face morphed from lust to hurt, then calm.

My words hurt her.

The way I said those words made me sound as if I was only here to fulfill my obligations and not because I truly wanted her.

God knows I was dying to have her. Not because of some obligation, but because she was so beautiful and alluring it was impossible to resist her.

Since I saw her charm in that banquet hall during the business dinner, I have been thinking about nothing but how to make her mine completely.

"I am sorry, I didn’t mean it like that." I tried to defend myself but it sounded so weak.

"It’s okay. I know that the only person you truly want is Innocent. No need to apologize."

That made me want to give myself a harsh slap on the face.

How could I hurt her like that?

My involvement with Innocent was already a sensitive topic between us, and now that she has been brought up, nothing could happen tonight even if I possess unparalleled charm.

"That’s not true. You are my mate and I want you too." That seemed to make things even worse.

It made it sound as if Valerie was only one of my options.

I realized that if I continued to stay, I would sabotage myself even further and dig a deeper hole to bury myself.

So, I took a deep breath and got up from Valerie.

"Okay, go to sleep. I will leave now."

Without another word, I planted a kiss on her forehead then got out of bed and walked out of her room without looking back.

My desire was still consuming me as I walked back to my room and shut the door behind me.

Feeling the burning heat on my body, I walked straight into the bathroom and turned on the cold water.

I needed a cold shower to cool down the heat.

Actually, I could have vented my desire on Innocent.

She was so sensible and never asked why I wanted to fuck her.

After half an hour under the cold shower, the fire finally died down.

She never wore perfume. However, she smelled like heaven.

Just walking into my room without showering while carrying her scent had left it in the air.

Lying under the blanket, it felt as if I was wrapped in her warmth.

My thoughts went back to half an hour ago.

Even though Valerie had stopped me from taking the last step, her body’s response to my touch gave me hope.

Maybe she was jealous of Innocent, which was why she had told me to stop.
