Thrown Into A New World: Let The Punishment Begin!-Chapter 902
Chapter 902: List Of Options
Marchioness Yona was busy thinking of whether she should bring up the latest thought that had popped into her mind before her husband and thus had gone silent.
The St. Claire’s family was, after all, the wealthiest among the nobles outside the royal family.
Therefore, despite their lowly status when compared to her family, Marchioness Yona was still willing to look away from their lacking position for the sake of the pleasant future her son would have once he married their only daughter.
The Madam of the Yona family, in the past, had given the matter concerning her son’s marriage partner much thought.
She had already speculated how the different families would be divided or united in the next few years based on the marriage partners chosen for the younger generations.
The Brodie family had only one child, Glennise Brodie, so whoever was chosen as her marriage partner would inherit the Ducal title as well as the wealth their family had amassed over the years.
However, as tempting as the position of becoming the Brodie girl’s husband sounded, the fact that she was of a Ducal family was the biggest hindrance to the Marchioness’ plans.
.....
Most nobles desired to marry their daughters into families of either the same status or higher.
Therefore, it would be futile to dream about joining a ducal family as the Brodies must have planned to marry their daughter into the royal family or the only other ducal family in their Kingdom.
Hence, based on her speculation, it was highly likely that Glennise Brodie would marry the young Prince of their Kingdom or any of the sons of the Tanner family.
Next came the Tanner family who had no daughters so there was no reason to include them in the consideration for the most appropriate partner for her son, Zimon.
Likewise, she had made similar, detailed speculations for the other girls from each of the Marquess families.
Marquess Samed was unmarried and had no children hence that family was out of the question.
The Kiron family had two daughters and in the past, Marchioness Yona had a faint thought of getting her son married to their elder daughter, Aleena.
However, hearing about the girl’s bad reputation that was getting worse as she grew older, the lady had given up on this idea.
As for the younger daughter, Rika, she always assumed that this child would be given to the other son of the Tanner family, whichever remained unmarried by the time she came of age.
The relationship between the Madames of the Tanner and Kiron family was exceptionally good which strengthened the Marchioness’s belief in the speculation she had made about the future of their children.
As for the Leopold family, who had two children, the heir was too old to be considered an appropriate marriage partner for many of the younger girls from the main families.
Therefore, Marchioness Yona pitied the young man who happened to be a budding star in the business world as he would have to choose someone from the side branches of any of the noble families to be his future bride.
Elna, the only daughter of the Leopold family, had never been included in the list of options for Zimon as her age was too close to his.
This otherwise simple reason was thought to be problematic by the Marchioness as she believed that Elna, who though was virtuous and kind, would not be able to possess the same kind of reverence towards Zimon that would come naturally to any other girl much younger than him.
Not to mention that a woman as haughty and ambitious as Marchioness Leopold would not choose their Yona family as they weren’t as wealthy as the other marquess families.
In this aspect, Marchioness Yona was self-aware, and hence, before the Leopolds could reject them, she was one step ahead as she had never considered their daughter for her son’s future partner.
If she had guessed it right, the Leopolds were planning to get closer to the Tanner family, hoping to marry their daughter to the heir.
Hence, Marchioness Yona believed that she had made the right decision by eliminating Elna as a prospective bride for her son.
Though Aleena and Elna were of the same age, the former was rejected for her ill attitude whereas the latter for the reasons mentioned above.
The eldest daughter of the Carter family was rejected for a similar reason as Elna was since she was born the same year as Zimon.
However, the Marchioness had favorable opinions about the second and third daughters of the same family as they were much younger and also had good reputations to their names.
While she wasn’t too close to the Carter family, their younger daughters had been at the top of the list for Zimon’s future bride until now.
Therefore, the Marchioness had been waiting for them to grow a little older before picking either one of their daughters to be betrothed to her son.
These were the list of girls whom Marchioness Yona had taken into serious consideration for the successful and smooth-sailing future of her beloved child, Zimon.
The remaining families were of lower statuses and hence did not pass the basic criteria needed to join the Yona family.
However, even the last marquess family, the Jorbins, shared the same fate due to the foreign blood coursing through their children’s veins.
Marchioness Yona looked down on their mother’s origins so she would never allow their tainted blood to be mixed into her son’s future generations.
What she did not know was that Marchioness Jorbin would have turned down any and all arrangements for her daughters to enter a family where they would be looked down upon.
Since the Marchioness was oblivious to this fact, she was immersed in her latest thoughts about joining the Yona and the St. Claire families.
If she compared Yvonne St. Claire to the other young girls she had been considering until now, then this new challenger would stand at the very top of the list.
Not only did she belong to the richest noble family outside the Royals but she also possessed both intellect and talent in musical arts.
She also recalled how the child had often been praised by the Royal tutor and the best piano instructor in their Kingdom under whom she had studied.
Therefore, right now, Marchioness Yona’s eyes sparkled when she thought of how such a brilliant idea had come to her mind.
To ensure that she made progress in the plan that she had come up with, she focused her glinted eyes on the woman who could make it all possible.
“Countess, I hope to get to know you better.” She smiled while announcing what she had in mind.
As she uttered those words, she took a step closer to the Countess who had been silent until now.
Not just Countess St. Claire to whom those words were directed but everyone else present in this group was stunned at this sudden shift in the Marchioness’s demeanor.
A few moments ago, she was unwilling to even look at the women with lower status than hers but now she wished to spend time with the Countess.
Therefore, it wasn’t just Raylene who felt that there was something wrong with the Marchioness who had displayed a different side of her today. f𝙧ee𝘄𝐞𝚋𝐧૦ѵeƖ.c𝘰𝓶
‘Did I do something wrong?’ Raylene rapidly blinked her bright pink eyes in bewilderment as she had no clue how she had managed to provoke this woman who always had a frown while looking at her in the past.
Though right now, that frown had been replaced by a wide smile which most certainly wasn’t something Raylene was used to witnessing.
Hence, it was obvious that the unsettling feeling which had been dormant until now had suddenly surfaced the moment Marchioness Yona had uttered those words.
However, while most other women were surprised at the sudden shift in the Marchioness’ behavior towards their friend, Lady Kiron frowned as she found this situation to be familiar.
Others might be ignorant of the sparkling look in Marchioness Yona’s eyes but she, who had been on the receiving end of that same look numerous times now, was absolutely confident of what it meant.
Therefore, a look of distress and disgust formed on Marchioness Patrina Kiron’s face which faded away before anyone else could lay eyes on it.
The distress was for the sake of her good friend, Raylene, who might soon be having a tough time.
Whereas, the disgust surely was aimed at the woman who was now planning to achieve something ambitious in the near future.
‘I should warn her.’ Marchioness Kiron decided when she noticed that Raylene had hesitantly nodded her head in reply to the other Marchioness’s earlier statement.
