Time Travel: The Noble Family-Chapter 1246 - 516: Prejudice (7)
Nanny Luo sometimes truly thinks that Madam Miao is a peculiar one. Not only does she keep an eye on the family’s little property, fearing that the Master and the others might take too much, but she also constantly covets the Old Grand Master’s possessions, always believing those should be hers. That could be overlooked, as it’s ultimately Gu Family’s business. But the ridiculous part is she actually thinks Brother Shengsheng and his brother eat for free, and even more absurdly, she says it right in front of the two children. Not to mention that Lady Lian has sent many good things to the Dong Residence, the two children were not leeching. Even if Lady Lian hadn’t sent anything, Brother Shengsheng and his brother were using the Old Grand Master’s things; they were consuming Dong Family’s resources, so what does it have to do with the Gu Family? Madam Miao managed to offend completely, and now she still has the nerve to seek help door to door.
Dong Yuan remembered how Yueyao had been helping her these days, her face softened. But soon, Dong Yuan recalled something that changed her expression again. That day, Father said he would take a few kids to Suzhou to visit Yueyao, but when Father came back, the two children didn’t return with him. She had doubts at that time, but since her father said the children couldn’t be separated from their mother, she didn’t think much about it. Now thinking about it, it indeed seems suspicious. Moreover, this couldn’t be something two maids would make up out of thin air, especially considering the involvement of the two children.
Dong Yuan gestured for Xinger to leave. Then she looked at Nanny Luo and asked, "Nanny Luo, tell me honestly, is what those two maids said true?"
Nanny Luo pondered for a moment, then said softly, "Madam, whether the Second Young Lady said this directly to Brother Sheng and Brother Xu, I don’t know, but I did hear from the maids below that the Second Young Lady complained that Lady Lian didn’t give a piece of Silver, and let the two children eat and drink in the Gu Family for free, making the Gu Family raise her children." Nanny Luo was utterly speechless when she heard such words. That residence is not the Gu Family’s but belongs to Tao Ye. Yet, Madam Miao allocated this residence to the Gu Family.
Dong Yuan was shaking with rage, then she collapsed to the ground.
Nanny Luo was startled, loudly shouting, "Quick, call the doctor, Madam has fainted."
Dong Yuan was merely fainted from anger; she was fine once she woke up. When she opened her eyes and saw Madam Miao by the bedside, recalling Nanny Luo’s words, she pointed at Madam Miao and asked, "Let me ask you, did you or did you not say that Brother Shengsheng and Brother Xuxu were freeloading in our Gu Family?"
Madam Miao was stunned for a moment, then her face changed and she quickly shook her head saying, "No, Mother, I never said such words?"
Dong Yuan didn’t trust the maids around Yueyao, but she trusted Nanny Luo, who had been serving her since she was eight years old, a confidant among confidants. Besides, there was no reason for Nanny Luo to deceive her about such matters.
Dong Yuan fixed her gaze on the maid beside Madam Miao and asked, "You say. Did the Second Young Lady say in front of Brother Shengsheng and Brother Xuxu that they were freeloading at the Gu Family?" Seeing the maid hesitate, Dong Yuan sternly said, "If you don’t tell me the truth and I discover it later, I will sell you to the brothel immediately."
The maid’s deed was in Dong Yuan’s hands; hearing this, she dared not hide anything anymore. Trembling, she said, "Reporting to Madam, the Second Young Lady did say such words."
Dong Yuan asked with a cold face, "Besides these, what else? Tell me everything in detail."
Since the maid had already spoken, she no longer concealed anything. Anyway, revealing one thing was as much as revealing many, so she spilled everything Madam Miao usually said like beans.
Madam Miao turned ghastly pale with fright, knelt in front of Dong Yuan, and cried, "Mother, I didn’t say those things, Mother..."
Dong Yuan slapped Madam Miao’s face, "You fool..." Madame Yao is steady, good at socializing and managing household affairs, though she doesn’t talk much. But Madam Miao, with her willingness to lower herself, often made her very happy, so privately she would favor her slightly more. But Dong Yuan had never expected Madam Miao to be foolish to this extent; no, worse yet, she never expected her to be so narrow-minded. Gu Li’s increasingly meek personality must certainly have something to do with this fool as well.
With that thought, Dong Yuan considered divorcing Madam Miao.
