He had grown significantly stronger than before, he couldn’t help but grin, then he picked up the orb next to the mantis.
( Agility Stat orb- + 4 agility.) " He froze, while it wasn’t as good as his last rewards, it was still amazing."
" What is it?" Oriana asked.
" It’s a stat orb, it’s gives additional agility stat, I’m keeping this by the way." She nodded and didn’t argue.
He did kill the mantis and last time she got two orbs while he took one, they rested, the others monsters had retreated.
His echo drove them away in fear, after resting they continued in their path, the forest was larger than they had expected.
Nearly an entire week passed with them not seeing an end, in the past week they had killed so many monsters they couldn’t even count them.
Akaris had leveled up to level 12 in the process giving his two more free stats he hadn’t used.
They had also fought and killed two more elite monsters, one was a gorilla with enough strength to shake the earth.
The other was a 20 metres long snake with scales so tough his normal arrows couldn’t even pierce through them.
Its venom almost took him out, fortunately it was a paralysis venom, after resting it went out of his system.
The two monsters gave a strength and endurance stats orbs respectively and he took the endurance one.
By the end of the week they saw a new sight, they reached the end of the forest and saw a large opening.
Nearly 2 kilometres away from the edge of the forest was a massive wall of stone that looked like a city wall.
There was a gigantic gate of metal, they were certain now this was a city which confused them.
They wondered if this trial was set in a real world, that would be troublesome if they had to deal with the locals.
" Should we go around it?" Oriana asked, Akaris didn’t know how to answer. A part of him wanted to say yes but another thought this city might be important.
He also thought of another possibility, what if this city was built by trial takers who came before them.
The system had implied that the apocalypse was experienced by multiple world so that was possible.
However that would mean this trial was not easy, if there were people who stayed here long enough to build an entire city.
Then completing this trial was nearly impossible. " Lets go in." They walked towards the gates.
When they were a hundred metres away they heard a voice shouting at them to stop from the city wall.
Both raised their hands and looked up, a group of people with bows and arrows appeared on the city wall.
Akaris couldn’t clearly see their faces because his attention was on the monsters approaching them.
From their left they saw a group of tall human with horns, dragon wings and tails behind them.
Akaris used inspect on their leader.

This status screen didn’t resemble that of a monster, it looked closer to theirs, he wondered if this was actually a monster or not.
Then he remembered neither he nor Oriana were actually fully humans so it would make sense that either others like him exist or other races entirely.
The group of five looked at them with disdain and walked towards the city, a group of humans opened the heavy gates.
Their clothing were shabby and looked nothing like the leather armour and clothing work by that group.
Akaris frowned, Oriana was still looking around mind absently but he could clearly see the difference in status.
The gate guards were humans and the way that group looked at the two of them, obviously humans were a lower class in this city.
Another group came out of the forest and walked past them, leading them was an elf and behind the group were four humans dragging large monsters corpses.
They looked exhausted but they did not dare to stop and rest, even the socially inattentive Oriana was able to see the discrimination here.
She looked at him and both realised they might have to kill a lot of people, they certainly weren’t going to accept this type of treatment.
They didn’t care how the other humans were treated but if anybody tries anything with them, they’re going to die.
They watched as group after group went inside the city, almost an entire hour passed and they were still not allowed in.
They were losing their patience, Oriana growled and was about to use her beast soul when they felt a powerful aura behind them.
They looked back and saw a giant with blue skin and red marks around his body walking towards them.
The giant was alone and carrying a massive boar nearly 8 metres long above his head yet he didn’t look like he was under any pressure.
Thw giant passed by then and their eyes met, Oriana growled softly, it was unintentional.
Using her tiger beast soul so often had given her beast like instincts, combined with her natural love for battle, she became what she is today.
The giant paused for a split second before continuing on its way, " I want to fight him." Oriana whispered.
Akaris shook his head but didn’t say anything, that guy gave him the same level of danger as the tempest Hawk King did.
Another group showed up behind the giant, they looked like they were trying to keep distance from the giant.
Leading them was a woman carrying what looked like a wooden staff, the staff had a crystal orb on its head.
The woman was a human and so were everybody behind her, the group had nearly 20 people.
They were the largest group they’ve seen so far but also the most disheveled. They dragging the corpse of a giant deer.
They looked genuinely happy and would occasionally steal glances at the deer and gulp.
-------------------------
Sarah sighed, she had brought nearly 30 people with her this time and lost almost 10 of them.
Some of those people had children and families waiting for them at home and all their lives managed to buy is a deer.
They even had to follow behind Gorell just to leave the forest safely, fortunately unlike the other powerful races, the oni did not care about those they considered weak.
They neither respected nor looked down on them, they were nothing more than air to them.
But there was nothing she could do, humans were naturally weak with no defining traits or strength.
Of course she understood that was only before they get their class, in her world there were people who can fight toe to toe with drakes.
Even powerful races like elves did not dare mess with humans, in the abyss they were one of the most feared races.
Unfortunately some of them were unlucky and ended up in this death trail, in all of known history.
There had never been any record of somebody coming back from this trial, it is believed the system even had to give prior information about it just to give trail takers a second chance.
Sarah suddenly froze, she saw Gorell looking at two humans with a glimmer of excitement before ignoring them.
She knew oni, they not much different from their fallen siblings the ogres in that they loved battle with the strong.
But that made no sense, no human can be strong enough to make Gorell the strongest Oni here excited.
She approached those two, " Hello, are you knew here?" She asked because they didn’t look like they had been here before.
" Yes, we just arrived not long ago." The man answered then sighed, " Unfortunately it doesn’t look like they plan to let us in."
Sarah nodded, if it was a member of any other race, they would’ve let them in but humans had to pay first.
The others races could pay later, she took out two silver coins. " Pay me later." Then she left them there and went inside the city.
She had a feeling those two were going to create a storm here.
