Together Apart: Her White Moonlight Has Returned Too-Chapter 205: Is It Sweet?
It’s been so many years that the amusement park has long been renovated and many new attractions have been added as well.
Vera Yves had yet to speak when Toby suddenly pointed in the distance, "Cotton candy! Auntie, I want cotton candy!"
"Alright, Auntie will go buy it for you."
Vera Yves let go of Winston Valentine’s hand and walked into the crowd. Winston’s palm felt empty. Watching her get swallowed up by the crowd, he felt a bit anxious inside.
He took a few steps forward, but with so many tourists, he still couldn’t see Vera.
A rabbit-shaped cotton candy appeared before him, and Vera popped out from behind it, smiling as she asked, "Isn’t it cute?"
Winston, looking at the smile in her eyes, also chuckled, "Yes, it’s cute."
Vera handed one of the rabbit’s ears to Theo Hughes’ mouth, "You can have just one bite, okay?"
"Uncle, lower yourself a bit," the little guy directed, grabbing Winston’s head. Winston obliged and lowered his head, looking at Vera’s rosy lips, and couldn’t help but kiss her.
Theo’s whole little face was buried in the cotton candy, and he took a big bite.
Winston gently sucked on Vera’s lips.
Vera froze for a moment, the crowd flowing around them. She shyly pushed him away, and only then did Winston reluctantly let go after nibbling on her lip.
Vera’s cheeks were shockingly red. Seeing Theo still had cotton candy on his mouth, she stood on tiptoe to wipe it off, "Is it sweet?"
Winston, still savoring the kiss, said, "Sweet."
Vera’s face turned even redder, and she avoided his gaze.
Theo shouted happily, "So sweet, Auntie, I want another bite."
Vera smiled at him, "Just one last bite, no more being greedy."
The two of them took Theo to the children’s play area, and the little guy became instantly excited upon seeing those attractions.
Before coming, Vera had already talked in detail with Chelsea Valentine about Theo’s medical condition. Because Jasper Hughes was unwilling to let him go to the hospital for treatment, he had been on medication since the diagnosis.
"Toby, we’ll pick three activities you want to do the most, okay?"
"But I want to do all of them!" Theo said, looking disappointed.
Vera gently rubbed his head, "We’ll do the three you want to do the most first, and then pick three you want to do next time. That way, when we come again, you’ll have something to look forward to."
"Then... Auntie, will you come with me again next time?"
"Of course."
"Can we pinky promise?" Theo extended his little finger toward her.
Vera smiled and linked fingers with him.
"Pinky swear, hang it on a hook, a hundred years no change!" Theo shook Vera’s hand, then extended his thumb to seal the deal.
"Auntie, we pinky promised, you can’t lie to me like Mom does."
Theo withdrew his hand and lowered his little head.
"Auntie will definitely not lie to you."
Only then did Theo cheer up.
There were a lot of people in the amusement park, and each ride required lining up. Theo picked the children’s roller coaster, theswiveling honey jar, and the fantasy maze.
The two joined Theo on the roller coaster, Vera noticing beads of sweat on Winston’s forehead, so she took out a tissue to dab it off.
Winston took the opportunity to hold her hand.
The roller coaster slowly set into motion.
Theo excitedly shouted "Wow!"
With a booming sound, the roller coaster slowly moved, then sped up on its ascent and descent.
Theo continued to call out excitedly, "So much fun."
Vera hadn’t expected the drop to be so fast, and she instinctively tightened her grip on Winston’s hand.
When they got off the coaster, Winston teased her, "My hand’s sore from your grip, didn’t realize you’re so scared."
"I’m not scared. Really?"
"I remember there being bungee jumping here. Since you’re so brave, want to try it with me?"
Vera drew a big cross over her chest, "Don’t even think about it."
The three of them finished all of Theo’s chosen activities by noon and had lunch at a restaurant inside.
Worried about Theo’s health, Winston called Walter Lowell to pick him up and take him back to the villa.
The little guy was reluctant to leave, so Winston bought him several toys before Walter successfully took him away.
Vera also intended to leave with them but was dragged back by Winston.
"Having finished the kids’ games, let’s do something exciting."
Vera glared at him playfully, annoyed, and poked him in the waist.
Winston dodged and pulled her into his arms, "Roller coaster, pirate ship, drop tower, swinging hammer, bungee jumping, let’s do them all one by one."
Vera scoffed at him, "This is childhood revenge compensation!"
"Yes, so have mercy on me."
"I don’t want to."
"Which one haven’t you tried?" Winston looked down at her. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Vera thought for a moment. She had tried all those he mentioned, except bungee jumping because the amusement park didn’t have that at the time.
But fearing Winston might actually drag her to bungee jump, Vera looked at him seriously, "I’ve tried them all, and honestly, they aren’t that impressive."
Winston raised an eyebrow at her and then dragged her to queue up without letting her say no.
Vera followed him, and the first stop was the roller coaster. It took them more than half an hour to queue, and compared to the children’s version, the adult version seemed much more terrifying.
In the instant of free fall, Vera gripped Winston’s hand tightly, screaming out loud.
Once off the roller coaster, Vera felt a bit weak in the legs. Winston led her out, and as they passed the exit, many people were buying photos.
They queued again to ride the giant swinging hammer. Vera screamed until her throat hurt, but she had to admit, yelling out loud like that was both stress-relieving and thrilling.
When it came to the drop tower, Vera refused to go up no matter what, "I was scared to tears last time, so even if you kill me, I’m not going up!"
Seeing her determination, Winston smiled, "Then accompany me to bungee jump instead."
"You might as well kill me."
"You know I couldn’t bear to do that," Winston touched her face, "choose one."
Vera chose to push him away and run back, "My mom is calling me home for dinner!"
Winston took a few long strides and caught her back in his arms, "Choose or do both with me."
"Winston Valentine, can’t you be less domineering?"
"Then let’s bungee jump."
"I don’t want to."
Winston lifted her onto his shoulder, and Vera pounded on his back as they drew the attention of many passersby.
Vera gave up struggling, covering her face with her hands, feeling utterly embarrassed.
Once they were in the queue, Winston finally put her down, but to prevent her from escaping, he kept her locked in his arms.
People around them looked on with envious eyes.
Someone sighed, "They are so in love."
In love? If she could leave, she would have; Vera looked like she had no will to live, listening to the screams ahead felt like awaiting her execution.
Finally, their turn came. As the staff secured the safety measures, Winston wrapped Vera in his arms and whispered into her ear, "When we do these rides in the future, only think of me, got it?"
