Too Late to Love Her: When She Divorced, He Fell Apart-Chapter 81: I Told You, I Have to Give Grandma a Grandchild
"You promised it yourself, so you deal with it yourself."
Claire pushed his hand away and walked to the wardrobe to find her pajamas.
Tristan Lockwood strolled over unhurriedly, leaning against the wall, his eyes brazenly watching her change clothes.
Initially, it wasn’t the first time Claire had changed clothes in front of him.
But their cold war this time lasted too long, and that thing hadn’t been done for a long time either.
Naturally, it wasn’t like before, where she could let him watch without any reservations.
She turned her back, avoiding his gaze, as she was about to put on her top, Tristan Lockwood hugged her from behind.
"Your brother just called you."
His chin lightly rested on her fragrant shoulder, whispering close to her ear.
Claire turned her head aside, "You didn’t say anything strange to Dylan, right?"
"Of course not."
But Dylan did tell him many things he didn’t know.
However, Tristan Lockwood didn’t say this out loud.
He turned her body halfway, facing her, then sat at the edge of the bed, letting her sit on his lap.
He then proceeded to kiss her forehead, cheeks, and chin.
Claire placed her hand on his chest, trying to push him away, but Tristan Lockwood was so strong that she couldn’t move at all.
She frowned slightly.
Whether it was her illusion or not, although Tristan Lockwood was forceful, his actions were gentle, even seeming to deliberately please her.
When it was close to midnight, Tristan Lockwood held Claire’s waist and whispered in her ear, "Your brother wanted me to wish you a Happy New Year."
The last four words coincided with the clock striking midnight.
Claire was slightly stunned, staring at his profile after the act.
Her feelings were complicated.
However, perhaps because it hadn’t been done in a long time, even after once, Tristan Lockwood still seemed unsatisfied.
He pinched her waist, wanting to continue.
As Claire struggled, Tristan Lockwood’s phone rang.
She pushed his head, "Your phone is ringing."
Tristan Lockwood glanced at the incoming call indifferently, and upon seeing it was Jade, he directly answered it.
"Tristan, Happy New Year." Jade’s voice was gentle, "It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, I... really miss you."
Tristan Lockwood softly responded with an "Mm."
Jade almost immediately fell silent.
Not just her, even Claire, who was currently held in Tristan Lockwood’s arms, could hear that although his sound was indifferent, it actually carried a hint of excitement.
"Is Claire next to you?"
Jade suddenly asked.
Tristan Lockwood handed the phone to Claire, saying, "She’s asking you."
He intentionally applied pressure, causing Claire’s voice to quiver slightly.
But she didn’t speak to Jade.
Tristan Lockwood then took back the phone, his actions slower.
He said, "Since you’re with Sean now, it’s best to call me less often, as he is my younger uncle after all. It’s better to keep some distance between us."
After Tristan Lockwood finished speaking, he hung up the phone without any hesitation.
When he lowered his head again, he met Claire’s surprised gaze.
Her eyes flashed with confusion, and she said, "With your attitude towards Jade, aren’t you afraid she’ll try to harm herself again?"
"With Sean watching over her, what do I have to worry about?" Tristan Lockwood looked at her and said.
Claire pressed her lips together, not continuing to question.
Near the end, she suddenly realized that Tristan Lockwood showed no signs of leaving.
She reached out and abruptly pushed him.
But Tristan Lockwood was firm, "I promised to give Grandma a grandson."
Claire: "I’ll take medicine."
"Taking medicine is bad for your health."
"Then you get out."
She was on the verge of swearing.
Tristan Lockwood ignored her.
When it was over, Claire almost immediately rummaged through her bag to find the medicine, swallowing it without even pouring water.
Tristan Lockwood frowned, "You’re carrying this with you?"
Claire turned her back, snuggled into the quilt, and ignored him. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
This medicine was some leftover from when she caught him with Lucy York.
Luckily, there was some left back then; otherwise, ordering contraceptives at Grandpa and Grandma’s house tonight and being discovered would definitely trigger some negative thoughts.
Tristan Lockwood stared at her back but didn’t continue to say anything. He silently lifted the quilt and lay down beside her.
After a while, he turned sideways and pulled her into his arms.
...
The next morning, when Claire came out of the room, she bumped into Sean coming out of the room next door.
Sean calmly glanced over her face and said indifferently, "You and Tristan had a good night last night."
Claire’s face warmed, and she glared at Tristan Lockwood, who had followed her out.
Then, without any expression, she turned around and went downstairs.
Tristan Lockwood, thick-skinned, raised an eyebrow nonchalantly and looked at Sean, saying, "Did you hear it?"
Sean: "The noise you guys made was hard not to hear."
Tristan Lockwood smiled ambiguously, "Speaking of which, your woman interrupted us last night."
Sean raised an eyebrow slightly, surprised by Tristan Lockwood’s dismissive attitude towards Jade.
It seemed like disdain.
But after saying this, Tristan Lockwood went downstairs.
During breakfast, Elder Lockwood said to Sean, "Auntie Heather has already contacted the Quinn Family early in the morning. Your meeting with Luna Quinn is set for the fifth day of the new year."
Sean paused for a moment and said, "Isn’t the fifth your birthday?"
Elder Lockwood: "Auntie Heather said that to avoid too much awkwardness during your first meeting, it’s better to set it when there are more people. If you get along, you can stay in touch yourselves; if not, then forget it."
Sean nodded, "Auntie Heather has worked hard."
Elder Lockwood then looked at Tristan, "The announcement of your and Claire’s relationship will also be on that day."
In his words, there was no room for negotiation.
Claire opened her mouth to say something, but Tristan Lockwood quietly pressed her hand to stop her.
After breakfast, just when Claire was about to question Tristan Lockwood about not refusing Grandpa’s request, Tristan Lockwood spoke first, "Announcing our marriage is more beneficial than harmful to you, isn’t it? What are you unwilling about?"
She said, "We might end up divorcing any day, so there’s no need to make it public."
Tristan Lockwood looked at her, "What, are you worried that when you look for another man later, you’ll be rejected for being a divorcee?"
Claire said nothing.
Of course, she didn’t care about that.
She just thought that Tristan Lockwood’s change of attitude seemed a bit sudden.
She even wondered if it was her illusion. When agreeing to Elder Lockwood about making their relationship public, she actually saw a hint of happiness on Tristan Lockwood’s face.
Originally, she didn’t care about anything, so she feared nothing.
After all, she never truly possessed him.
So even if there would be loss and pain, she could endure and get through it.
But his sudden tenderness, care, and affection made her anxious and at a loss.
After all, the Tristan Lockwood who once saved her was, in her heart, an immovable existence.
Her biggest fear was that the current him and that past version of him would slowly become one.
If that happened, she was truly afraid she would never be able to walk away, even until death.
