Chapter 83: Chapter 83: You Behaved Quite Well Today

Claire instinctively wanted to struggle.

But Tristan Lockwood’s actions were unusually gentle.

Generally, when she and he kissed, it was mostly during those moments, lips touching were filled with desire and tug-of-war, madness and confrontation.

This kind of calm and gentle kiss seemed like the first.

Claire opened her eyes slightly, in the reflection of daylight, Tristan Lockwood gently closed his eyes, looking serious and deeply focused.

Her hand at her side trembled slightly.

Then she lifted it and placed it on his waist.

In the distance, Nathan Quinn stared dumbfounded at the two people under the tree, locked in a passionate embrace, and then turned to Jenson Jennings beside him and said, "Old Jenson, could it be possible that these two have actually started their honeymoon?"

"Anything’s possible."

Jenson laughed casually, but noticed Nathan Quinn gritting his teeth, looking deeply unsatisfied.

He patted the back of his head and asked, "What’s on your mind? You can’t still have feelings for Claire, right?"

"How could that be?! A friend’s wife should not be coveted, I’m so loyal to my buddies, how could I steal Tristan’s wife."

After Nathan Quinn finished speaking, he sighed again and said, "I’m just feeling emotional, Tristan and his wife have become true love, why am I so miserable, having to face that unruly woman Kiara Vance every day!"

Jenson said mercilessly, "When you were down and out at home, she reached out to help, you agreed to marry her, now you can’t handle her, and you start complaining about Kiara’s bad temperament?"

Nathan Quinn: "Old Jenson, why are you speaking for that woman Kiara, have you forgotten what attitude she had towards Tristan’s wife before? Today at Elder Lockwood’s birthday party, who knows if she’ll point at Tristan’s wife’s nose and scold again!"

"I’m not speaking for Kiara." Jenson gave him a disdainful look, "I’m just being neutral, there’s no absolute good or bad in people, no matter how unruly Kiara’s temperament is, she’s still your fiancée, emotionally and logically, you have the responsibility to protect her."

Nathan Quinn pouted, obviously disagreeing with his words.

Jenson: "As for the latter part of what you said, today is Elder Lockwood’s birthday, it’s bound to be grand, with such an occasion, Tristan came with Claire, haven’t you figured out what that means?"

Nathan Quinn was stunned and looked at Jenson in disbelief.

Jenson smiled ambiguously.

But soon after, Nathan Quinn remembered something that made his expression suddenly mysterious, "Did you know my sister returned to the country?"

Jenson’s expression paused, his usually gentle eyes suddenly became sharp.

"She didn’t tell me."

Jenson’s tone had already turned somewhat unpleasant.

Nathan Quinn: "Don’t be angry, there’s more to be upset about later. Did you know Elder Lockwood’s birthday today is about the dumplings made for which saucy dish?"

Jenson’s expression tightened, "It can’t possibly be about introducing Luna to Tristan, right?"

"That’s not it." Nathan Quinn said, "Old Jenson, how come when it comes to women you can’t seem to handle, your intelligence goes offline? You forgot, Elder Lockwood still has a single young uncle!"

"Sean Lockwood?" Jenson’s eyebrows furrowed, his voice turning cold, "You guys are going to introduce Luna to Sean Lockwood?"

Nathan Quinn: "It’s not that we’re actively introducing her, it’s just that Sean Lockwood took a liking to Luna. That’s Sean Lockwood, the current head of the Lockwood Family, my parents can’t rely on me right now, so they’re counting on my sister to climb high branches and help the Quinn Family take off, so wouldn’t they quickly send her to Sean Lockwood..."

Before Nathan Quinn could finish speaking, Jenson glared at him fiercely.

He immediately shut his mouth and even gestured to seal it.

...

Claire pushed Tristan Lockwood away when his hand began misbehaving.

He didn’t forcefully keep her, but as they separated, his fingers lingered on her lips and said, "You’re quite obedient today."

Claire frowned slightly.

Since that New Year’s Eve night, Tristan Lockwood’s attitude towards her had been odd.

Clearly half a month ago they were still confronting each other, and now they inexplicably kissed like this.

The strangest thing was, even she herself lingered over this kiss.

Seeing her earlobes faintly blush, while her face remained aloof, Tristan Lockwood unobtrusively hooked his lips, and when they reached the gate, he said:

"My mother used to like this estate very much, but after my dad brought another woman back, she hated it here."

Claire looked at him with surprise.

On Tristan Lockwood’s face, the shadow that had previously been formidable had vanished.

He calmly walked up the redwood stairs to the third floor, stopping in front of the deepest corridor room.

Then he opened the door.

Claire stood beside him, instinctively covering her nose and mouth from the overwhelming dust, stepping back slightly.

Tristan Lockwood naturally stood in front of her.

After the flying dust settled, he walked inside and said, "This room, was my parents’ bedroom. It was also the room where I, at age ten, watched as my dad made love to another woman."

Claire didn’t say anything, quietly listening to him speak.

"That day, I was hiding here, watching my dad pressing onto a stranger while they both made that nauseating and revolting sound."

Tristan Lockwood turned around, his expression calm as he gazed at the wardrobe.

"He called that woman ’baby’, usually, those words were reserved for me and my mother, but he was calling another woman ’baby’ in my mother’s bed."

What a cruel thing it must be for a ten-year-old child to witness their father in bed with another woman.

Almost instinctively, Claire held Tristan Lockwood’s hand.

In court, she was eloquent, but facing Tristan Lockwood, especially when he displayed vulnerability to her, her skills of being composed and articulate often didn’t work.

"You will reclaim your happiness again."

She suddenly said such an inexplicable sentence.

Tristan Lockwood was stunned, suddenly lowered his head and asked seriously, "You and Jade Sutton were good friends when you were young, did you see those letters she wrote to me?"
