Top Assassins Call Me The Lady Boss-Chapter 192: Project together
Chapter One Hundred and Ninety- Two
Asli turned to him. "This better work." She paused, swallowed the lump in her throat, and then deliberately turned away, refusing to see him at all. "And I hope my father made a mistake about yours."
She moved fully away from him and approached her car. Standing beside it, she shouted over the commotion, "We leave in a minute. Injured men first..." The order was an unspoken rule where she made sure no injured men were left behind but she knew they understood her, and her men always obeyed. "Leave the dead ones for the Villa to clean up."
Sliding into the driver’s seat, she started the car without looking back. Yet, out of the corner of her eye, she caught Markus’ teasing smile. A smirk tugged at her lips. She couldn’t believe how much he had grown on her.
Her car was the last to leave Ahmet’s Villa as she pictured her meeting with her father.
Did she want to meet him? No. And did she have any choice? Also no.
On the road, she noticed a vehicle tailing her. A frown formed on her face. Without hesitation, she executed a sharp U-turn, confronting the car head-on.
She knew she was a crazy Mafia, this thrill, this surge of adrenaline, it made her heart pound in a way she had always felt in years.
"Are we stopping, Boss?" came a voice from the walkie-talkie. She grabbed it quickly.
"No. Drive. I’ll handle the car I’m facing." Her hand slipped back to the wheel.
Quickly, she reminded herself: she wasn’t alone anymore. She had a life to protect.
’A new life. A little one.’ she thought to herself. Damn right, she needed to be careful. No longer could she live recklessly, uncaring if she perished. Her baby mattered now. She hit the brakes.
"This is new," she muttered under her breath. "But a good kind of new." She smiled faintly.
The car eventually slowed and came to a stop. A man ran toward her, his steps precise and trained. Her rearview mirror confirmed he wasn’t one of her men, nor anyone from Demir’s side.
He bowed slightly at her car, then saluted as if he could see through her tinted windows. That caught her attention. This was a professional, unable to deny the fact that the man was well trained. She rolled down the window.
"Boss." The man called yet, she showed no expression.
He trembled under her gaze, frozen for several seconds when he noticed she only glared at him.
"Speak." She commanded him.
"Arh... sorry. Here. My boss asked me to give you this to drink." He handed her a bottle of water. For the first time, she softened slightly.
"He said you must be tired from the fight. Boss Ahmet mentioned he wants me to also escort you home and hopes to see you tonight. He hopes you discuss the project you have together. He said you’d understand what he meant by that." The man’s words were rushed, almost nervous. Asli’s brows lifted. Why would Ahmet reveal that much to this man?
She wondered why Ahmet would send this man to tell her this. This would only make his messenger get an idea that they knew each other outside their Organization.
How could enemies start a project together?
Yet, she remained poised, and calm, as if unfazed by what the man said to her.
"Here. He asked me to give you his handkerchief for the blood on your neck," the man continued, extending it.
Asli touched her neck lightly. She hadn’t even realized she had blood stains on it. She was surprised that amid all the fighting and chaos, he still noticed it.
"And he’s worried you don’t eat properly," he added. Asli’s hand hovered over her gun. How much did this man know? How much did Ahmet trust him?
He talked too much.
Seeing her hand move, the man quickly clarified. "He only told Markus about this. I overheard on my way to pick up the car. I’m part of his inner circle."
Asli took the bottle and handkerchief from him and then said, "Go back. Don’t follow me." She didn’t want anyone else in her space, not even on Ahmet’s orders. Scratch that, she wasn’t some doll that could get broken at any wrong turn.
She could see the flicker of hesitation in his eyes. He wasn’t sure whether to obey her or Ahmet.
She was tired and wasn’t ready to engage this man anymore. Did Ahmet not know her by now?
Yet, this was... different. Someone actually caring for her after a fight. Even her nanny and Matilda had long stopped checking in, knowing she hated it.
The man nodded, bowed with quiet respect, and stepped back, watching as her car pulled away.
Alone again, Asli exhaled, exhaustion hitting her fully. Ahmet must’ve noticed. He cared for her. She knew it. "And he cares for you too, little one," she whispered, pressing a hand to her stomach as if the baby could hear her.
Caught in traffic, she grabbed the bottle from the holder, unscrewed the cap, and drank it down in one long gulp.
She sighed, letting the relief settle in. She really needed that. Part of her even wanted one more to drink. Exhaustion tugged at every muscle.
Was this what pregnancy was about? Feeling strange and unusual. Could she be able to hide it?
She wiped her lips and glanced up at the traffic light, it had now turned green. She pressed the accelerator and eased the car forward, letting the hum of the engine and the rhythmic passing of streetlights ground her.
Then the sharp and sudden pain low in her abdomen, hit her. She flinched, gripping the wheel tighter. Being who she was, hardened by years of pain tolerance, she tried to endure it. She told herself it was nothing. It was a small reminder that her body was alive.
Yet...
The pain came again, more insistent this time. Her teeth clenched. She eased the car onto the side and stopped the engine. Her chest rose and fell rapidly as she tried to breathe through it. What was happening to her?
Moments passed, but the ache lingered, throbbing, relentless.
When it eased just enough, she started the car again, testing the road, and willing herself to keep moving. But it returned, sharper, and unyielding, making her gasp despite herself.
Her hands trembled on the wheel, and for the first time in a long while, she felt the raw fragility of her body beneath all the steel of her resolve.
She blinked against the sudden sweat on her brow. This was more than just pain.
"What is happening to me?"
