Top Assassins Call Me The Lady Boss-Chapter 201: Matilda’s
Chapter Two Hundred and Two
"Your mission ended before afternoon. How is it that you are returning now?" her father asked.
"Sorry, sir. We encountered a few challenges on the way," she responded.
"Tell me. Where is the proof that Demir is selling my lands?" he asked, completely ignoring the fact that she had just mentioned they encountered some challenges. He didn’t care.
Was it bothering her? Maybe a little.
Maybe it was the pregnancy, but she could feel her emotions rising more than usual. That was dangerous. She never showed emotions, and if she suddenly started acting differently, she feared they would find out.
And if they did...
What was she going to say about who the father was?
Why was it that whenever she was outside the Villa she forgot about the consequences, but the moment she stepped back inside, they came crashing into her mind?
She pushed the feeling down her throat. "Here, sir," she said, handing the documents to him.
He went through them slowly.
When he finished, she watched his face darken before he exploded.
"How dare he do this to me! Where the hell is he? So I can crash him with my own fingers."
"Ahmet took him as compensation," she responded.
"Ahmet..." he repeated thoughtfully. Then suddenly he looked at her.
"Did your heart boil with anger seeing him so close? Did you want to pull the trigger?" The question caught her off guard. It took her a moment to realize he was trying to stir the hatred he believed she still carried.
"Yes, sir," she lied.
"I know," he said with satisfaction. "And it is only a matter of time. If Demir hadn’t been foolish enough to try selling my land, you would have ended his life already."
He waved his hand dismissively. "But for now, you will put that aside until he delivers all the information he has on this issue. After that... you can kill him."
He dismissed her as if the matter was settled.
Still, she managed to pick one important thing from that conversation.
Her father didn’t know she was pregnant. And he definitely didn’t know about her relationship with Ahmet.
Then who knew?
Cole only found out when she called him to come to the hospital. Even then, he learned the truth when the doctor mistakenly assumed he was the father.
Could it be her nanny?
No. She shook her head immediately. Her nanny would never betray her trust.
"Then it must be from Ahmet’s side," she murmured to herself. But who? She stepped outside and climbed into the car parked near her father’s building.
Cole was already inside, waiting.
"The cousins called," he reported. "They said the meeting will be at Markus’ place."
She nodded. He didn’t ask her any questions. Neither did he look at her with disgust. They drove in silence until Cole added something else.
"Matilda came home very late yesterday. I thought you should know."
A frown appeared on her face. "What do you mean by very late?"
"She returned from school after nine," Cole explained. "When asked, she said she had extra lectures."
Asli stared at him, clearly waiting for the rest. "And?"
"I checked the expenses for last month and this month. There were no payments for extra tuition. When I asked her about it, she said the lessons were free."
Asli sighed. She really didn’t have the energy to deal with this right now. She could tell Matilda was lying. That was new. Was the new girl a bad influence on her?
"Find out exactly what it is," she said. "I want to know as soon as possible."
"I’m already on it," Cole replied with a small smirk. She knew Matilda meant a lot to him too. He’d protect her just as much as he would protect her.
Asli leaned back in the seat. The exhaustion she had been ignoring finally caught up with her. Before she realized it, she had fallen asleep.
She didn’t know how long she had slept. But when she woke up, the car was quiet. She blinked and looked around. She was alone.
Outside, the three men sat nearby like bodyguards, talking among themselves.
She jolted upright and checked the time. She had been asleep for more than three hours.
Why hadn’t they woken her up?
She stepped out of the car and walked toward them. Immediately they saw her, they told her to go inside and rest.
"I’m fine," she said dismissively.
Then she looked at them. "Did you find out anything useful?" she asked.
Markus spoke first. "We don’t know him," he said. "Which is more alarming, because the car he used to meet you belongs to us."
Asli’s eyes narrowed. "Who else, aside from the two of you, knows I’m pregnant?"
There was a brief hesitation. Then Ahmet answered. "My parents."
Asli laughed bitterly. "You call my father a monster every chance you get. At least my father doesn’t go around harming his grandchildren."
Her eyes burned with anger. "You told me your father was innocent. He fcking killed my parents, and now he wants to kill my baby? Did I wrong him in my past life?"
"Calm down," Ahmet said quickly. "When I told them the news, we were together. Shortly after that, Cole called asking about your whereabouts. With that little time apart, it would’ve been impossible for him to plan something like that."
He continued reasoning. "Besides, the man approached you immediately after your car left. At that time, my father didn’t even know you were pregnant."
"That doesn’t rule out that your father is a monster, Ahmet." She accused regardless. Then, Asli frowned.
"Wait... what if someone overheard when you told me during the fight and quickly reported it to him and..."
"My father would never harm my child," Ahmet cut in firmly.
Markus and Cole exchanged looks. They stepped in before the argument could escalate further.
"We’re here to find the truth," Markus said calmly. "Not to watch the two of you fight. Let’s go inside before you catch a cold."
"I’m stronger than a cold," she muttered.
Markus smirked. "Yeah, I know. Now let’s go."
Inside, Markus walked toward the bar.
"Who wants a drink?" he asked casually, listing some expensive brands.
Cole and Ahmet each chose something. Then Markus looked at Asli.
"Sorry, I don’t have any juice for you right now. I’ll make sure to buy some."
Annoyed, Asli crossed her arms. "In my presence, no one is drinking alcohol."
Markus raised an eyebrow. "Oh come on. The baby won’t see it."
"No," she said firmly. "If I can’t drink, then no one else is drinking either."
Markus grinned. "You mean Ahmet... or all of us?"
Asli stared at him coldly. "How about I cut you into pieces and squeeze your blood for a drink?"
Markus blinked, laughing at her threat. Then he slowly raised both hands in surrender, though the grin on his face didn’t disappear.
"Noted," he muttered.
Ahmet rubbed the bridge of his nose while Cole simply leaned back in his chair, watching the exchange with quiet amusement.
Asli huffed softly and turned away from them, her eyes wandering around the room.
That was when something on the sofa caught her attention. Her gaze sharpened. It was lying just beside where Ahmet sat. Her expression shifted from irritation to curiosity.
"How come you have this?" she asked slowly, pointing toward it.
"What?" Ahmet asked, following her gaze down to the cushion beside him.
Before he could reach for it, Asli was already moving. She stepped forward and picked it up.
"This hair tie."
Ahmet frowned slightly. This wasn’t his. The moment, he forgot they weren’t even in his apartment.
"What about it?" Markus asked quickly, a hint of defensiveness creeping into his voice.
Cole glanced at the small object in her hand and then at the two cousins.
"Looks like you brought a woman here," Cole said casually. His tone was distant, though he clearly meant it as a joke.
But the effect was immediate.
The curiosity on Asli’s face disappeared and a dark look replaced it.
Ahmet saw the change instantly. Then he remembered it wasn’t his place.
"This isn’t my house," he said quickly. "You know this is Markus’s place. The hair tie..." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Looks familiar," Asli cut in quietly.
Markus suddenly stepped forward, reaching for it.
"Let me see that."
But Asli’s reflexes were faster. She pulled her hand away before he could grab it. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she examined it again.
Then she looked up at them.
"This belongs to Matilda," she said.
