Tower: Rebirth of the Absolute Demon-Chapter 35: Ch : Devouring the Beast
Chapter 35: Ch 35: Devouring the Beast
---
[You’ve successfully killed a B-rank monster, Orc Warrior.]
---
Ye Tian opened his eyes, blinking away the fatigue from the intense battle.
The translucent notification floated in front of him, casting a faint glow across the debris-strewn room.
He chuckled softly, the sound barely audible over the ringing in his ears.
"How cool, huh?" he muttered to himself, the corner of his lips curling into a smirk.
Before he could reflect any further, another screen materialized before him... this one golden, radiating an aura of importance.
---
[World Announcement: Player Ye Tian has become the First Player to have Solo killed a Rank-B Monster, Orc Warrior.]
---
The announcement echoed through the system, reaching every single participant of the trial.
Across the world, players were stunned into silence.
For most, this was their first encounter with a system.
Their skills, levels, and classes had all been reset, leaving them weaker than ever.
The trials had barely begun, and yet, Ye Tian had already achieved what even seasoned warriors found impossible.
"A solo kill on a B-rank monster? And not just any monster... an Orc Warrior?"
Veteran players were left speechless.
Even before the reset, Orc Warriors were a pain in the ass.
They were often the bane of high-ranking guilds, requiring carefully coordinated teams to take down.
Among the former S-ranks, whispers of disbelief filled the air.
"That monster... it’s a walking fortress. How did someone solo it?"
The announcement only deepened the despair for many.
If someone could achieve such a feat, what hope did the weaker ones have?
Meanwhile, in the battered room, Ye Tian wiped the blood off his face with his sleeve.
The metallic taste of victory still lingered in his mouth as he stood among the rubble.
Another notification popped up before him, its text flickering slightly.
---
[You’ve accumulated @#₹#@ amount of EXP.]
[Leveling up...]
[Error: EXP will be stored temporarily.]
---
"Error?" Ye Tian raised an eyebrow. His mind immediately went to the Karma Beads merging with the system.
"System, how much time left until the process is complete?"
---
[Time remaining: 1 hour 45 minutes.]
---
"Fine, fine. Guess I’ll just deal with this mess in the meantime."
He turned his attention to the orc’s lifeless corpse sprawled across the room.
Despite its grotesque appearance, the body emanated faint traces of mana.
Ye Tian approached it, his steps calm and measured.
Placing a hand on the monster’s chest, he whispered to himself...
"Time to take my spoils."
Closing his eyes, he activated the Nine Heavens Devouring Technique...
A black aura seeped from his palm, wrapping around the orc’s corpse like a living flame.
Unlike his earlier, restrained use of the technique, this time he poured qi into it, allowing the full power of the devouring process to unfold.
The aura flickered, then roared to life, growing in size and intensity.
It snaked around the orc’s body, enveloping it completely as if consuming it piece by piece.
Muscles dissolved, bones disintegrated, and even the faint traces of mana coursing through the body were pulled into the swirling vortex.
The room darkened as the black flames grew more ferocious, devouring not only the physical matter but also the essence of the monster.
The aura’s voracious hunger was palpable, filling the air with an oppressive weight.
Ye Tian’s eyes snapped open, his gaze fixed on the process as the energy spiraled upward.
In mere moments, the entire body was gone.
Where the orc once lay, only a flickering mass of black energy remained.
The flames began to coalesce, condensing into a distinct form... a single, elongated red eye.
The eye hovered in the air, pulsing with malevolence.
It radiated an aura of ancient hunger, a remnant of the beast’s primal instincts.
The eye blinked once, releasing a ripple of energy before being absorbed back into Ye Tian’s right hand.
His body tensed as the energy surged through his qi circuit, flooding his system with power.
The mana he absorbed was far beyond what his mortal body could handle, but Ye Tian remained unfazed.
"If it were qi, I might’ve exploded by now..." he murmured, smirking.
"But dying to something as trivial as mana? That would be embarrassing."
He dropped to the ground, assuming a meditative stance.
Closing his eyes, he began the arduous task of refining the rampant mana coursing through his body.
The process was anything but smooth.
The mana resisted him, surging wildly like a storm, threatening to tear him apart from the inside.
But Ye Tian remained calm, focusing his will.
Bit by bit, he compressed the unruly mana, transforming it into qi.
The process was slow and painful, but with every passing second, his qi reserves grew.
After several minutes, he exhaled deeply.
A thick, black mist escaped his mouth... impurities expelled from his body. His skin glowed faintly as the transformation completed.
"Not bad..." he said, clenching his fist. His body felt lighter, stronger.
His fatigue was gone, replaced by a newfound vitality.
He stood up.
Turning to the wall where the orc’s weapon was still embedded, Ye Tian walked over and grabbed the massive iron ball.
With a single tug, he freed it from the cracked concrete.
He swung it experimentally, the spiked ball cutting through the air with a satisfying whoosh.
"Not bad at all..." he muttered, admiring his improved strength.
Finally, his gaze fell on the boxes of supplies he had painstakingly gathered earlier.
Two of the three boxes were completely destroyed, the contents crushed during the fight.
Only one box remained intact.
Ye Tian picked it up with his free hand, balancing it against his hip as he headed toward the door.
He stepped outside the room, the cool air brushing against his skin.
The corridor was eerily quiet, the faint hum of the system notifications the only sound.
Ye Tian glanced at the timer floating in the corner of his vision.
---
[Time until the first trial ends: 29 days, 23 hours, 50 minutes.]
---
"Thirty days, huh?" he muttered.
"This is going to be fun."
