Tower: Rebirth of the Absolute Demon-Chapter 39: Ch : Diablo Eviar
Chapter 39: Ch 39: Diablo Eviar
And now we’re back to the present.
So, here’s the deal.
I’m now a nine-year-old brat named Diablo Eviar.
Let’s take a moment to appreciate how ridiculous that is.
I mean, me?
A nine-year-old?
It’s almost laughable.
Blonde hair, cerulean eyes, a face that could make any child modeling agency line up to sign me.
’And a body so weak I’m surprised it hasn’t crumpled under its own weight yet.’
Honestly, it’s embarrassing. Who designed this meat sack?
The stamina is atrocious. Just walking for a few hours feels like I’ve run a marathon.
’Is this what it feels like to be mortal again? No, this is worse. I feel like I’m wearing a defective mortal costume.’
Who is Diablo Eviar, you ask?
Apparently, he was the youngest and now the only heir to the illustrious Eviar family... a name that once made kings tremble and kingdoms bow.
The Eviar family wasn’t just powerful... they were legendary.
They were direct descendants of Michael Eviar, the so-called Archmage.
The guy wasn’t just the first magician... he was the greatest.
He ascended realms that people could only dream of, reached the peak of magic itself, and made history that still echoes today.
’Or so the stories go. Not that any of it matters now.’
Fast forward a couple of millennia, and the Eviar family is a shadow of its former glory.
Talents dwindled, their influence waned, and other families with shinier, newer magic came to dominate the scene.
’New families, new techniques, new powers. Eviar? Just a relic of the past. Pathetic.’
And last night?
That was the final nail in the coffin.
The Eviar estate... once a sprawling symbol of power and prestige... was ambushed.
The attackers came in waves, ruthless and unrelenting.
The family fought valiantly, but in the end...
Everyone died.
Everyone except me.
’Lucky little Diablo, spared by some cosmic joke. The last survivor, the "heir" to a name that’s barely worth mentioning anymore. Great.’
And here I am now.
No family.
No wealth.
And the cherry on top?
No freaking qi in this godforsaken world.
’I don’t even want to think about the 29-year time limit looming over my head. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to make me hunt down some Apostle of Death for nearly three decades? I don’t even know where to start looking! Insane. Absolutely insane.’
But, well... maybe there’s a silver lining. Maybe I’ll learn something new here.
Broaden my horizons, discover secrets of magic, unlock something extraordinary.
’Yeah, sure. Keep telling yourself that, Ye Tian. Real convincing.’
For now, staying at the Eviar estate isn’t an option.
It’s private land, sure, but it’s not safe anymore. Nothing of value is left there anyway. free𝑤ebnovel.com
’No hidden treasures.
No secret chambers.
No ancient weapons conveniently lying around. Just ashes and memories.’
So, I’m heading to a place called the Black Forest.
According to Diablo’s memories... thank you, System, for unsealing those, by the way... the Black Forest is a place where death mana reigns supreme.
Apparently, Michael Eviar, the so-called Magician King, once killed a dragon there and buried its corpse intact under the soil.
’Because that’s what you do when you kill a dragon, right? You bury it and walk away.’
Over time, the dragon’s resentment manifested as death mana, corrupting the environment and giving birth to the infamous Black Forest.
Everything there is either dead, poisonous, or trying to kill you.
’A charming little getaway. Perfect for a stroll.’
That’s the story the world knows. The truth? It’s just the surface.
The death mana acts like a smokescreen, a protective shield hiding Michael Eviar’s legacy... a legacy that’s over two thousand years old.
’And guess who’s supposed to retrieve it? Yours truly.’
How do I know all this? Good question.
Turns out, this wasn’t common knowledge, not even for the Eviar family.
This little tidbit was etched into their blood, sealed so deeply that it only resurfaced thanks to the System’s memory retrieval feature.
’Lucky me, I guess.’
The unsealed memory included a clear message... head to the Black Forest and prove your worth.
’Sounds ominous, doesn’t it?’
If I succeed, I might gain something powerful enough to make my life easier... or at least help me get the hell out of this world faster.
’I’d rather not spend 29 years in a world without qi, thank you very much.’
After walking in a straight line for what felt like an eternity... 14 hours, to be exact... I finally reached the edge of the Black Forest.
My legs were trembling. My stomach was growling loud enough to scare off small animals.
My whole body felt like it was held together with duct tape and prayers.
But I was here.
The black, dead soil stretched out in front of me, covered with equally black, poisonous-looking grass.
The air was heavy, almost oppressive, and the faint stench of decay lingered in the wind.
’Yep, this is definitely the place.’
I stood at the edge for a moment, catching my breath.
’I’m here. Now what?’
Before stepping into the cursed ground, I instinctively looked around, scanning my surroundings.
’Nothing. No food. No treasures. No threats. No surprises. Good.’
Finally, I turned back to the forest and took my first step onto the blackened earth.
The moment my foot touched the soil, I felt it... a shift, a ripple in the air, like the world itself had just taken a deep breath.
Far, far away, deep within the Black Forest, something stirred.
A single, massive eye opened. Its iris was cerulean, glowing faintly with a golden hue, and its elongated pupil resembled that of a reptile.
"E...vi...ar..."
The voice was ancient, divine, and laced with untold power.
Then, as quickly as it had awakened, the eye closed again, and silence returned to the forest.
Ye Tian, of course, had no idea this had happened.
He continued walking, oblivious to what lay ahead.
’Alright, Black Forest. Let’s see what you’ve got.’
