Tower: Rebirth of the Absolute Demon-Chapter 52: Ch : The Call of Chaos
Chapter 52: Ch 52: The Call of Chaos
Ye Tian paused in the forest clearing, raising his hand once more.
He spoke firmly, his voice resonating with authority...
"Death Realm."
In an instant, the fabric of reality tore apart. A dark portal materialized, forming out of cracks that sliced through the dimensions like a knife through paper.
The jagged edges of the rift shimmered ominously, releasing a torrent of Death Mana into the air.
The thick, oppressive energy rippled outward, suffocating everything in the vicinity.
Before him, a translucent black window appeared.
---
[The skill ’Death Realm’ has synchronized with Player Ye Tian’s soul.]
[Effect: Any summons stored in the Death Realm now have a chance to grow stronger over time.]
---
Ye Tian smirked.
"Sweet! Looks like you’ve got some potential, huh?"
He turned his gaze to the Sword Demon, standing loyally at his side, and commanded...
"Sword Demon, go inside and rest for now. I’ll call you when I need you."
The skeletal figure bowed deeply.
"As you command, my lord."
Without hesitation, the Sword Demon stepped forward, his bony figure fading into the rift.
The portal crackled briefly before sealing itself, the dimensional cracks stitching back together seamlessly.
With his summon safely stored, Ye Tian turned back towards the forest path and began walking.
His work here was done.
The shadows of the towering trees stretched out before him as he trudged onward.
His appearance, now drastically altered, made it unlikely anyone would recognize him.
Even though he was infamous as the Epitome of Evil in his past life, concealing his presence was a skill he had mastered long ago.
Suppressing his energy now felt as natural as breathing.
"Why bother hiding?" he muttered to himself, his lips curling into a smirk.
"Oh, that’s right... because this world just loves to despise anything even remotely related to dark magic."
The thought amused him, but it was also a nuisance.
Dark magic users, necromancers in particular, were considered an abomination in this world.
Feared.
Hunted.
Destroyed.
Not that he cared much about their opinions.
He continued along the path, his thoughts drifting as the moonlight illuminated the forest.
His mind returned to the Sword Demon, and he let out a small sigh.
"I almost didn’t recognize him..."
He recalled those days vividly... back when Sword Demon had been a loyal comrade.
Sword Demon was there during Ye Tian’s ascent from the mortal realm to the immortal planes.
When countless immortals had attacked him in an attempt to stop his rise, Sword Demon had made the ultimate sacrifice.
In the chaos, the loyal warrior had pulled Ye Tian’s hand and driven it into his own chest.
The act triggered Ye Tian’s Nine Heavens Devouring Technique... a skill that unconsciously absorbed the Sword Demon’s strength and essence to keep Ye Tian alive.
Sword Demon’s final words echoed faintly in his mind...
’Live, my lord... for all of us.’
It was his way of ensuring Ye Tian’s survival, even at the cost of his own life.
Ye Tian’s lips twitched, forming a faint smile.
"You really were something else, Sword Demon. Even though you left my side so early, you played a bigger role in my journey than most..."
As these thoughts lingered, he realized he had reached the forest’s edge.
The vast beauty of the imperial city lay before him, bathed in the pale glow of moonlight.
The sight was as mesmerizing as ever... a bustling metropolis surrounded by high walls and crowned with the grandeur of the imperial castle at its center.
Ye Tian took a moment to admire the scenery, letting his thoughts settle.
But just as his mind began to wander, an earth-shaking boom erupted from the direction of the castle.
His head snapped towards the city.
The towering imperial castle... once the heart of the kingdom... was now reduced to rubble.
A massive explosion had obliterated the structure, scattering debris and sending shockwaves that reverberated through the air.
The once-proud city was now filled with screams of panic and despair as chaos spread like wildfire.
Ye Tian, however, stood unfazed, his blackened eyes fixed on the burning ruins.
He observed the destruction with a strange calmness, a faint smirk creeping onto his face.
"Now that’s what I call fireworks..." he murmured, almost admiring the carnage.
But before he could relish the moment, a sudden notification appeared before him.
---
[A choice has arrived.]
---
Black Screen appeared...
---
[Objective: Kill all the citizens of the imperial city.]
[Time Limit: 24 hours]
[Rewards: -1 Karma Point per person killed, Sword of Lionheart.]
[Failure: Death]
---
White Screen appeared...
---
[Objective: Save as many lives as you can.]
Time Limit: 2 hours]
[Rewards: +1 Karma Point per person saved, [Favorability of the Lionhearts, Clue about the Main Quest.]
[Failure: Death]
---
Ye Tian froze, his brows furrowing as he read the notifications.
The two options glared back at him, polar opposites in every way.
He clenched his fists. The reward listed under the white screen caught his attention... Clue about the Main Quest.
That was all he’d ever wanted.
A path forward.
A clue to guide him towards his current ultimate goal.
His eyes narrowed as he stared at the objective to save lives.
The notion of rescuing people wasn’t exactly in his nature... it went against everything he stood for.
Yet, the clue was too valuable to ignore.
He let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his black hair.
"Looks like I don’t have much of a choice here..."
For a brief moment, his gaze lingered on the black screen’s objective.
Killing the citizens would’ve been the easier option. Simple, efficient, and without moral complications. But the reward... it wasn’t enough.
The Sword of Lionheart couldn’t compare to the promise of uncovering his Main quest.
A slow, wicked grin spread across his face.
"Time for a change in taste, I guess."
With that, Ye Tian stepped forward, his figure vanishing into the shadowy outskirts of the city.
The screams of its citizens filled the air, and the countdown to his decision had begun.
