Transmigrated As An Extra In The Apocalypse-Chapter 55 - 54: Fen (2)
Chapter 55: Chapter 54: Fen (2)
The sharp pain in my body was unbearable, each breath feeling like fire tearing through my chest.
Blood dripped steadily from my wounds, pooling beneath me, and Ori’s growls were the only thing keeping me tethered to consciousness.
I forced myself to focus, to look up at the man, no, the being, standing over me
His silver eyes cold and indifferent.
He wasn’t even breathing hard.
How could someone so powerful look so composed, as if this fight had been a casual inconvenience?
I couldn’t take it anymore.
If I was going to die, I at least deserved to know why, or who he really is.
My voice cracked as I spoke, my words drenched in defiance despite the weakness in my limbs.
"Who... are you really?" I managed, the words scraping against my throat.
The words came out as more of a gasp, but they carried a weight that demanded an answer.
Fen tilted his head slightly, as though amused that I could still speak.
His silver hair shimmered faintly in the dim light, and the way he carried himself, so calm, so superior, made me want to punch him, if I had any strength left.
"Who am I?" he repeated, his voice smooth, almost melodic.
He paused, as if deciding whether or not I was worth his time.
"You persist in your questions, mortal." His voice was smooth, like silk laced with venom. "But i suppose it wouldn’t hurt to enlighten you before you die."
He straightened, his posture regal, his presence suffocating.
His lips curled into the faintest of smiles, a chilling expression that made the air around me feel even heavier.
"I am Fen," he said, his tone carrying an almost theatrical grandeur. "The first son of the Goddess of Creation. I exist in a realm Beyond the Null, known only as..."
He paused, as if the name itself defied human comprehension.
I stared at him, trying to process what he had just said.
"Beyond the Null?" I croaked. "What... what does that even mean?"
Fen smirked, his expression as if he were indulging a child asking a foolish question.
"...Let us say it is a realm beyond all understanding," he explained. "It is a place that transcends even the Tree of Narrative and the Golden Plane and even the fruit of narrative which is three layers above the world tree. It is beyond comprehension, beyond existence itself."
My head was spinning.
I struggled to process his words.
The Tree of Narrative, the Golden Plane, the World Tree, these were existence I had read about in the novel I had transmigrated into, it was explained vaguely, they were never fully explained.
And now, this godlike being was telling me he came from something even greater?
My mind reeled, but I forced myself to stay grounded, to keep asking.
"There are... others like you?" I rasped, clutching my side as the pain throbbed with every breath.
Fen’s expression didn’t change.
His smile widened, his expression still slightly amused.
"Oh, indeed. There are others dwelling in the same realm and beyond. We are beyond your comprehension, mortals who walk these planes are nothing to them."
I swallowed hard, the words sinking in like lead.
My thoughts drifted to the Orc Lords, the terrifying beings that had plagued this world, and a question slipped out before I could stop myself.
"What about the Orc Lords?" I asked, my mind racing. "Are they part of this... beyond stuff?"
Fen’s smile faltered, if only slightly, and for a moment, his eyes flickered with something I couldn’t quite place.
Disdain?
Amusement?
"The Five Orc Lords?" He tilted his head, his silver hair shimmering with the motion. "Some are, while the others have not yet ascended. But to me all of them are just the same, weak and insignificant."
His words hit me like a punch to the gut.
The Orc Lords, who were the pinnacle of power in this world, the ultimate threat in the novel, and were considered insignificant to beings like Fen.
What kind of nightmare had I stumbled into?
"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked, my voice shaking with a mix of fear and anger.
Fen’s expression shifted, a trace of mockery in his eyes, his smile grew, cold and cruel.
"Because, mortal, it amuses me. You are going to die, so there is no harm in sharing fragments of the truth with you. What you do with that knowledge in your final moments is irrelevant."
My fists clenched weakly, the sting of his words cutting deeper than the wounds on my body.
Before I could respond, the portals behind him began to hum with power, their silver light growing brighter.
The spears were forming again, faster this time, their deadly points aimed directly at me.
I turned my head slightly, looking for Ori.
He was always there, always by my side.
But this time...
He wasn’t.
"Ori?" My voice cracked, desperation creeping in.
He was gone.
The one being I could count on, my only ally, had disappeared without a trace.
Where had he gone?
Fen noticed my panic, his smile returning with cruel satisfaction.
"It seems your loyal companion has abandoned you, mortal. Fitting, isn’t it?"
My breathing grew shallow.
The pain in my body was unbearable, and the spears were already aiming at me, their deadly trajectory set.
My vision blurred, darkness creeping in at the edges.
The portals began to hum, the spears trembling as if they were eager to be unleashed.
I felt a deep, sinking despair settle over me.
My body was broken, my strength depleted, and now, Ori was gone.
I didn’t feel him anywhere.
I lowered my head, my vision blurring as exhaustion took over.
The first spear shot forward, its speed unmatched.
I didn’t even try to move.
I couldn’t.
My body refused to obey, and my strength had long since left me.
There was no point.
It will be of no use, I am already trapped here...
I closed my eyes, the realization settling in like a cold weight on my chest
Maybe this was it.
Maybe I am really done this time.
I was going to die.
The first spear pierced through my chest, I felt the world begin to fade.
The pain was sharp, unbearable, but it was fleeting.
Darkness crept in at the edges of my vision.
Fen stood there, his calm expression unchanged.
My body convulsed, and everything went silent for a moment.
The pain...
I couldn’t even feel it anymore.
Just like that...
I was dead.
