"V-vermillion…! You…!"

Xenia and Xavena were shocked to see me raising my right palm high in the middle of my blood-stained body.

The black aura of Black Star that erupted from my body at that moment made Xenia and Xavena immediately prepare to finish me off, but they held back, as if they had just realized something was wrong with me.

Well, they were right about that.

All Xenia and Xavena had seen so far was me, badly injured, dying, and without the strength to fight.

But they both slowly realized it was all an illusion.

They were both shocked when they saw my shimmering body disappear along with the black aura that had previously been emanating from me.

"H-he's gone…?!"

"That bastard Vermillion…! He used illusion magic…?!"

Not far away, on a tall tree branch, I stood there, staring at Xenia and Xavena, who were still confusedly trying to find me.

My plan to deceive them worked.

Long before I could proceed further into the forest, I summoned Zeraxion with my Time and Dimension Spell, using Zeraxion's illusion magic to lure the enemy targeting me from the darkness of the forest.

And my suspicions turned out to be correct; these two elves attacked me in the darkness with swift attacks.

From my observations, both Xenia and Xavena were using magic that was unusual among elves.

It seemed their magical abilities weren't purely derived from their magical powers as elves, but from something else.

"...they have been possessed by the spirits of the Druids, Lord Vermillion."

A deep male voice sounded beside me.

The magical warp gate was still active beside me, revealing the Time and Dimension Dragon: Zeraxion.

"Druid...?" I asked.

"Yes, the Cursed Heart Forest is actually just a portion of the forest ruled by the spirit of the Druid, Lord Vermillion. This Druid can possess elves, humans, and other living creatures to become slaves to the forest under his control," Zeraxion answered smoothly.

I examined Xenia and Xavena's bodies more closely, gazing at the beauty of their ample cleavage through their tight dresses.

Despite their ample breasts, I could see the magical flow within their bodies was stagnant.

Their entire bodies and minds were being permeated by a mystical greenish flow of magic, which turned out to be connected to the green light scattered throughout the Cursed Heart Forest.

"Does the Druid actually live in the Cursed Heart Forest?" I asked curiously.

"No, Lord Vermillion. The Cursed Heart Forest is simply one of the Druids' expansions to secure their protected area. Druids typically live in places that provide protection. One such place is the Golem," Zeraxion replied.

"Ah… I heard that Xenia and Xavena did indeed go to meet the Golem in the Cursed Heart Forest. That means the golem we're looking for is indeed the Druid's abode."

"That makes sense, Lord Vermillion. It seems the golem you're about to face possesses the earth element, which is why the Druids trust it."

I looked around, gazing far into the horizon.

Although it was mostly dark, I could see a mystical green magical current emanating and spreading, converging on a point in the north.

If I followed that magical stream, I was confident I'd reach the golem, which was right at the heart of the Cursed Heart Forest.

But I was also aware that the Druids possessing the elves other than Xenia and Xavena would welcome me if I rashly went there.

I just needed to defeat the golem, and then the druids would be free from the golem and the elves.

But to do that, I must first free Xenia and Xavena from the Druids who are controlling their minds and hearts.

"Lord Vermillion… you have used a summoning spell that has drained quite a lot of your magical energy. Furthermore, the Cursed Heart Forest is filled with air that can disrupt your natural magical flow. I advise you to be careful, as your magical capabilities will be limited for a while," Zeraxion warned me.

Zeraxion was right about my magical capabilities.

Besides, there was still a cooldown period before I could use the summoning spell, which meant I couldn't rely on the help of The Great Wyvern, Terra Golem, and Zeraxion.

The magical warp gate beside me began to fade into a blackish-purple light, obscuring Zeraxion's figure as my summoning spell was about to end.

"Thanks for your help, Zeraxion… I've already thought of a way to restore Xenia and Xavena," I said as the warp gate faded away.

Zeraxion bowed his head and disappeared along with the warp gate.

Despite my limited magical capabilities, the Black Star on my right hand was still active.

But I had to manage this magical energy because I had to take one quick action that could free Xenia and Xavenia from the Druids' grasp.

I controlled my breathing, and I could feel the magical flow emanating from the elven nobleman's clothing I was wearing.

This elven nobleman's clothing was imbued with magical power due to the Azure Crystal's essence within it, and I could easily use and generate wind elemental magic.

With just one stomp, a bright green light filled my clothes and pants, making my body feel light as if I were under the control of the wind.

Oh, I could even float effortlessly.

"T-there he is…! Atreus Vermillion…!"

Xenia's loud cry from beneath the tree immediately caught my attention.

I knew that Xenia and Xavena would be aware of my presence the moment I activated the magical power of this elven nobleman's clothing.

I slowly descended from the tall tree branch, calmly gazing at Xenia and Xavena, who were staring at me with gazes filled with hatred and anger.

"Looks like you just realized you've been tricked, huh? Ladies…don't be so hasty. I know you two are lovely elves, but I can't respond to your raging murderous intent…" I quipped calmly, causing Xavena, who was still in her red-furred wolf form, to howl loudly to express her anger.

"Don't think you can escape now, Atreus Vermillion…!" Xenia immediately took off. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝔀𝓮𝒃𝙣𝓸𝒗𝒆𝒍.𝙘𝒐𝒎

I saw the surrounding tree roots creeping toward me like octopus arms, about to strangle my neck and bind my body.

'WHOOP…!'

I immediately soared high again before the octopus-like roots could reach my body.

Not stopping in one spot, I darted quickly to avoid the fast-moving roots that were like wooden thorns about to pierce my legs and stomach.

At the same time, I could hear the sound of footsteps galloping beside me.

The sound of the wolf's footsteps accompanied by its bloodthirsty howl.

Before the red-furred wolf could lunge for my neck, I dived low, almost hitting the ground, narrowly avoiding a bite that would have ripped my neck apart.

I shot north, with Xenia and Xavena nimbly chasing behind me.

I glanced back and saw a magical red aura emanating from Xavena's body.

She had transformed from a wolf into a red-furred eagle, darting toward me, her talons poised to rip me to pieces.

'SLASH…!'

"Ughh…!"

The eagle's talons ripped through my back, nearly sending me crashing to the ground, but I endured the pain and regained my footing.

Unfortunately, my right leg was caught in a tree root that moved like an octopus!

This damned magical tree root, Xenia's Druid skill, forced me to a complete stop!

"You're dead, Atreus Vermillion…!"
