Transmigrated as the fake young master, I'll beat up the scumbags and b*tches-Chapter 317Vol. 1 - - Despair
“HuMing, where did you go just now? I couldn’t find you anywhere,” asked Xia XiaoXi, her voice trembling slightly as the car drove down the darkened road. The night was pitch black, the kind of darkness that weighed heavily on the nerves.
Outside, everything was cloaked in shadows, making it nearly impossible to see what lay ahead.
Sitting behind the wheel, Lan Jun glanced at the three people in the backseat.
HuMing sat in the middle, eyes fixed straight ahead.
“…I think that’s Uncle Xia up ahead.”
“Dad?” Xia XiaoXi leaned forward, just in time to spot a familiar car driving ahead of them.
Beside that car, a large truck was moving in parallel.
“Xia XiaoXi, get some rest when we get home. Don’t overthink what happened today,” HuMing said gently.
“Xia Chen, you too. Take good care of your sister. Just stay home and rest for a few days—there’s no need to stir up more trouble.”
He was trying to comfort them, but up ahead, the large truck slowly began to shift lanes.
Suddenly, Lan Jun jerked the steering wheel hard, swerving the car sharply. Xia XiaoXi let out a scream, but was quickly pulled into HuMing’s arms.
HuMing’s brow furrowed deeply as he stared at the vehicle ahead, while Lan Jun’s expression darkened.
“Young master, something’s not right with that car in front!”
It was obvious even to the untrained eye—the car ahead had intentionally accelerated from behind, aiming to collide with them. If Lan Jun hadn’t reacted so quickly, there would’ve already been an accident.
The white vehicle showed no signs of slowing. Instead, it continued accelerating, trying to catch up to the car in front.
Xia Chen’s eyes narrowed, his voice suddenly sharp and loud.
“He’s going after my dad?!”
Hearing this, Xia XiaoXi broke free from HuMing’s arms in alarm.
Her gaze locked onto the car ahead, and she clutched HuMing’s sleeve tightly.
“HuMing!”
“Lan Jun!” As Xia XiaoXi’s cry reached HuMing’s ears, he’d already ordered Lan Jun to accelerate.
But the other vehicle was too fast—its trajectory was aimed straight at the car in front.
That car seemed to realize it was being targeted and tried to speed up to avoid the threat.
Then suddenly, from the white car’s window, something was thrown out.
Lan Jun slammed on the brakes. The car screeched violently, skidding across the asphalt.
Everyone instinctively ducked and braced themselves—but as the shock passed, they lifted their heads, eyes wide, trying to grasp what had just happened.
And then, the unthinkable happened.
The car carrying Xia GaoWu began flipping over and over, rolling uncontrollably before finally veering off the road—and plunging down the hillside.
The white car’s front end was sparking violently, on the verge of exploding.
Xia XiaoXi stared in horror. She unbuckled her seatbelt and bolted out of the car.
By the time she reached the edge of the hillside, a sudden explosion erupted below, a blinding flash of fire searing her vision.
Her mind went blank—she couldn’t comprehend what she was seeing.
Boom!
A deafening blast rang in her ears. HuMing yanked her back just in time, his eyes locked grimly on the burning white car.
Xia Chen had also rushed out of the car. He stood frozen, eyes wide, unable to believe what he was seeing.
It had happened right in front of him—this terrifying scene, one he had never imagined. And yet it was real.
In the distance, police sirens wailed.
Xia XiaoXi clutched her head as a pounding ache set in. The world around her was becoming muffled, growing darker by the second.
“Dad... Dad…” Her legs buckled, and she collapsed backward.
HuMing caught her quickly, holding her close with a concerned expression. He looked toward Lan Jun, who was already on the phone with the hospital.
Xia Chen anxiously supported his sister, heart pounding wildly.
It had all happened so fast—no one could process it.
“That white vehicle was confirmed to be driven by the fugitive Bai YongKang. By the time we realized it, he had already fled.”
“We found remains in the other car and are currently testing to confirm if it’s Xia GaoWu. But it’s highly likely—both the license plate and model match exactly.”
Inside the police station, HuMing and Xia Chen listened in silence as the officers spoke.
HuMing’s brows were tightly knit, his expression unreadable.
Xia Chen slumped in a chair, supporting his head in his hands, struggling to breathe steadily.
He never imagined he would witness his own father’s downfall with his own eyes.
Why hadn’t Bai YongKang been caught? Why his father? Why them?
Xia Chen clenched his teeth so hard blood began to drip from his lips.
He suddenly stood up and glared at the officers, his voice trembling with fury.
“Why didn’t you catch him? He was the one behind all of this—why is he still out there?!”
He tried to charge forward, but HuMing grabbed him firmly.
“Xia Chen, calm down!”
Xia Chen shook him off violently, glaring at HuMing with nothing but rage in his eyes.
“How am I supposed to calm down?! That was my father! I watched it happen!”
HuMing didn’t take offense—he understood.
“I get it. But are you the only one left? If you lose it now, what happens to Xia XiaoXi?”
The mention of his sister made Xia Chen’s breath start to settle.
Still, he clenched his fists tightly, holding back a scream of frustration.
Lan Jun stood at the doorway and glanced at his watch. It was past 2 A.M.
They had rushed Xia XiaoXi to the hospital earlier. The doctors said the trauma had been too much—she had passed out from the shock. They needed to keep a close eye on her emotional state.
HuMing placed a steadying hand on Xia Chen’s shoulder—his legs were trembling, barely able to hold him up.
“Xia Chen, do you want to go home or the hospital?”
“The hospital. I need to stay with XiaoXi…” he murmured. Right now, it felt like Xia XiaoXi was the only family he had left.
HuMing looked over at Lan Jun, who nodded, silently agreeing with whatever HuMing was thinking.
“Alright. I’ll go with you.”
“No… HuMing, go home. Your family must be worried sick too. You should go back…”
“Okay. I’ll have Lan Jun drive you. I don’t want you going alone.”
“Mm…”
Xia Chen’s voice was barely audible.
HuMing watched his retreating figure and suddenly felt like Xia Chen had changed.
The weight of the Xia family had suddenly fallen onto his shoulders. Would he really be able to carry it?
HuMing didn’t know. But right now, he had no choice but to believe in him.
Even if the cost—for the Xia siblings—was unbearably steep.
(SHMOLL: So, now we know that HuMing has no chance of having parents-in laws in all routes. I kind of liked the guy though, sadge.)
