Chapter 160: The Divine Healer [ 7 ]

A few minutes went by, and yet I still had no clue how to turn this thing off.

There wasn’t anything in my heart, imagining it turning off didn’t work either.

Clicking on the second effect was also not very productive.

So in the end, I decided to just accept it as is.

I’m sure I’ll be able to figure something out.

Shaking my head, I toyed around with it a little more, trying to directly infuse more energy into the Control Field.

To my surprise, despite not being able to turn it off, I managed to infuse energy into the Control Field, increasing its size to 10 meters, but the energy cost had doubled.

It was still negligible, so I continued increasing it again, then again, and again...

I only stopped once the Control Field was at 30 meters.

Since the energy drain had increased by 64 times, I knew that this was my limit.

Any more, and I wouldn’t be able to regenerate the energy as fast as it was being drained.

But I was sure a 30 meter Permanent Telekinetic Control Field was good enough for starters.

I’ll figure out the rest of its effects later, but for now, I wanted to merge my other two Gifts.

Lightning Manipulation and Red Lightning.

One was external, while the other, internal.

Focusing on the blue and red energies, I decided to do the same strategy as what I had done with Telekinesis and Pyrokinesis.

However, right off the bat, the siphoning was way faster, and there was zero resistance.

And so, within just a few minutes, the two energies merged together, forming a beautiful, glowing black energy that flowed freely and pulsed through my veins.

My body felt lighter, stronger, and even my mind felt clearer, as if the black energy was passively enhancing my body.

And when I reopened my eyes, I saw even more pop-ups.

[Ding!]

[★Lightning Manipulation [Expert] (Lv.60) has merged with ★Red Lightning [Intermediate] (Lv.99)]

[Special synergy with ☆Mental Resistance (Lv. MAX) has been detected!]

[Ding!]

[New Gift: Black Lightning Manipulation]

"..."

Pardon?

Black Lightning Manipulation?

I pressed on the New Gift tab several times, but no new pop-ups appeared.

But even if nothing appeared, the fact that it said there was a special synergy with my Mental Resistance General Ability meant that it was probably the reason why the Gift managed to mutate this way.

For starters, I enhanced the black lightning that was inside my body.

My reflexes immediately increased, and with a single step, the ground beneath me crumbled as I found myself on the other side of the mountain peak, nearly falling off the edge. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

The moment I glanced back, I realized that a massive chunk of the mountain where I stood had been blasted clean off.

Debris flew into the distance, some hitting Adam’s mountain, while others crashed onto the ground, causing loud explosions to resound.

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

I stared in shock, and with a cracking smile, I raised my hand and focused on the clear blue sky.

At first, I only wanted to send down a small lightning strike.

But because of how clear my mind was, I forgot to hold back.

Half of my energy was drained in an instant as the whole sky suddenly turned black.

Thousands of unstable lightning storms formed, clashing with one another and sending powerful arcs as well as explosions in all directions, further lighting up the sky.

But it was only beautiful for a second or two.

After all, once the black arcs of lightning descended directly onto me, it didn’t look as nice anymore.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Just barely dodging my own lightning strike with the help of my Control Field, I saw the slow arc of lightning fly past me and then cut through the mountain like butter.

A giant gash formed as the mountain beneath my feet was split in two.

And as I stood on the toppling side of the mountain, I could only stare in awe at what 50% of my energy could do.

Right as I was about to hit the ground, I caught myself with Telekinesis and snapped my fingers, causing all the lightning that had gathered in the sky to suddenly vanish as though it never existed.

But the hundreds, if not thousands, of craters riddling the ground as well as the fallen mountain in front of me were proof that this just happened.

And yeah.

Black Lightning Manipulation was way stronger than what I had.

I was also sure there were some hidden effects because of the mutation.

Though I’ll have to get to that later, as now, I needed to see if I could still do a little something...

I focused on my heart and thought of opening it like I did back against Kai.

Back then, I did it randomly, but now, I realized that all I really did was just create a massive pathway in front of my heart that didn’t connect to anything.

But since it was open, it absorbed all the energy that crossed it.

And since there was so much energy scattered around from all the lightning strikes, I took a stroll for the next couple of minutes, refilling my energy.

Once it was full, I took a deep breath and glanced over at Adam’s mountain.

Despite everything that just happened, it wasn’t affected.

But I could still feel a sharp killing intent from above.

I would be mad too if someone just fucked up my front lawn like that.

So with a gulp, I slowly flew to the very top.

Once I arrived, the first person I spotted was Clementine.

The moment she saw me, she pouted.

"Did you do that on purpose? You know, you nearly destroyed my books."

"My bad... It wasn’t completely on purpose."

"So that means it was partially on purpose!"

She walked over to me and gently bonked me over the head.

Then, she pinched my cheek and stared at me straight in the eyes.

"If you’re going to do something like that again, go a bit further out, would you?"

I smiled slightly and leaned in, placing a kiss on her lips.

I was a little surprised that she could move normally.

But maybe the Control Field didn’t affect allies?

"Sorry, and I will. I’ll also tell you about what happened later, but for now..."

Glancing past her, I spotted Adam, who had just stepped outside from his hut, holding a shiny steel morning star.

This wasn’t really looking that good for me.

Even so...

"I-I’ll try to talk to him. Be right back."
