Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 166: The Deal [ 1 ]
As the morning light washed over me, I stared at my reflection in the river that was between Hanazora and the barbarian lands.
There were many things I regret in life.
One of them was having so much knowledge about the future.
Why was I the only one with such a curse?
Why couldn’t Kevin also have knowledge of the game?
Why not anyone else?
Am I even on the right side here...?
Should I just join the demons and let everything fall just so I could be with Clementine?
As if on cue, I glanced ahead to Hanazora’s side of the river and spotted Clementine.
She merely stood there with her arms crossed.
Morr was also perched on her shoulder nonchalantly.
At first, I thought she might judge me, but instead, she hopped over to my side and hugged me tightly.
Feeling her warmth, I felt like a lump had formed in my throat.
And so, all I could do was hug her back silently.
The silence lasted for a while.
But so did the hug.
That was until Clementine finally separated and stared at me straight in the eyes.
"Amon, you did what you had to do, so please don’t blame yourself."
A faint smile appeared on my face.
"Don’t worry. I’ll get over it... Though, there are several powerhouses from the barbarian side who are just not home at the moment. Once they get back and find out it was me who did all of this, we’ll have Grade 70s chasing after us as well."
Seeing how I was trying to change the topic, she approached me again and placed her hand on my cheek.
"Amon, I think after we’re done with the Sun Vampires, we should go back to the Elodrenia continent."
"Why?"
"You mentioned that Kevin and the others have a lot of potential. Let’s use that potential instead of trying to do everything ourselves."
She pinched my cheek slightly with a slightly worried look.
"You’re burning. I know you can’t feel it yet, but you are. Your soul is completely black."
My soul...
"What was the color of my soul when you first met me?"
Her hand twitched slightly.
"Does it matter?"
"It matters to me."
She paused for a moment.
"It was clear."
I thought so.
After all, I barely knew anything when I first met Clementine.
Now...?
I’m a mess.
But even so, I nodded at her earlier request.
"Okay. Let’s do it your way."
She pinched both of my cheeks this time, and without wasting any time, swept me up with one of her Soul Weapons and began flying us back to the Divine Healer’s home.
Since she flew us pretty slowly, it took us about an hour to arrive.
And once we landed just a few meters outside of Adam’s hut, the door opened as Aliyah and Adam walked out.
Both of them wore conflicted expressions, but even so, Aliyah simply smiled.
"Do you want breakfast?"
"...?"
"Are we not going to talk about it?"
Adam coughed.
"No. You’re old enough to deal with the consequences of your own actions. Go wash up since you smell like blood, then come and eat some scrambled eggs."
I...
I had no idea what to feel at the moment.
Emotions were so complicated.
Were they always this complicated?
Or were they only so complicated because of my maxed out Mental Resistance ability?
Or... Was it because of how many times I’ve died?
Regardless of that, I nodded at the two, patted Clementine’s head, and went back down to one of the hot springs to wash up.
***
Nearly four days had gone by since that accident.
After I came back and ate some food, everything seemed to go back to normal.
Clementine focused on her studies, Adam tried maximizing the potency of the Rainbow Lotus Flower potion’s recipe, and then lastly, Aliyah and I just did some light sparring.
Obviously, I wasn’t able to win even once.
Not even the spar we had just a few minutes ago.
Still, as I adjusted my posture and glanced at her, I decided to remind her of something.
"You said you’ll teach me one of the basic forms of your swordsmanship. You didn’t forget, did you?"
Aliyah sheathed her katana and crossed her arms.
"You expect me to teach you how to fight like me when you can’t even land a hit on me?"
"That’s because you’re not letting me use my Gifts," I retorted.
Yes.
I was salty.
"How about instead of complaining, you try to work on that swordsmanship of yours?"
She let out a chuckle.
"On a real note, I was curious about something. You know the locations of the remaining 7 Rainbow Lotus Flowers, right?"
I rose to my feet and gave her a nod.
When she saw that, a faint smile appeared on her face.
"Would you like to do a trade for the rest of those flowers?"
Ah...
Finally.
I knew this question would come eventually.
And thankfully, I was already prepared for it.
"A trade? I would be interested, but just so you know, my demands aren’t going to be light."
She just waved at me.
"It doesn’t matter to me. Ask away."
Good.
"Then I’ll be blunt..."
"In a few months, the world is going to be overrun by demons. When that happens, I want you and Adam to be on my side, and no matter how stupid you think my decisions might be, I don’t want you to question them."
A look of confusion and shock appeared on her face.
But before she could say a word, I continued.
"I want you to teach me all forms of your swordsmanship, and by that, I basically mean I want you to take me on as an official disciple."
Her frown deepened.
Though I wasn’t done.
"I also want you to have a talk with Adam and tell him to teach Clementine the actual technique that makes him the Divine Healer. I’m talking about the Mystic Healing Arts, by the way."
She looked at me as though I was the most unreasonable person in the world.
Though she soon clicked her tongue and said:
"Is that it?"
Hehe.
"On the contrary..."
"I want you to recommend Clementine and me to the rest of the 12 Calamities. I want to meet all of them."
