Transmigrated As The Final Villain of a Death Game-Chapter 221: The Gala [ 8 ]
I just sat there, trying to process what he had just said.
For one, I knew that Oracles were fake, and only some form of divination was possible, since it could give a vague answer of the future.
But for the Demonic Oracle or whatever to claim I was some kind of extinction level calamity... Why?
"I asked around, even interrogated some of your friends there. They didn’t know much about you. I guess that’s only natural, because you’ve avoided getting close to them. I respect it."
He narrowed his eyes.
"But if you’re who I think you are, then you’re definitely our most valuable asset. For that, I wish to try changing your mind so you join us."
I shook my head.
"That’s not going to happen."
He shrugged.
"You never know what’ll happen. I, for one, never thought I’d be the Demon King. Yet here I am, doing free labor for nothing. Hehe..."
With that, he glanced over to the door.
"It seems like the party’s finally wrapping up. The spectators are ready, our men back home are ready, and since I’ve finished what I had set out to do here, I guess I ought to leave as well."
He snapped his fingers. In the next instant, the space around him cracked, revealing a purple portal-like entrance to another location.
Merilyn grumbled and hopped on through. The instructor did the same.
Yet right as William was about to leave, I said:
"To what extent am I not allowed to participate in this battle?"
William paused for a moment.
"Hmm? To what extent? I suppose it’s obvious you’re not allowed to fight anyone in the palace. Can’t fight anyone whose intent is to kill the emperor either."
A faint smile appeared on my face.
"So if I take the fight outside, and fight the person who doesn’t want the emperor dead, then that’s all fair game, right?"
At my words, William just shrugged.
"Whatever."
Then, without wasting another second, he stepped on through the portal, closing it on his way out.
For a moment, I just sat there, staring at the empty space.
In all honesty... I expected William to be more proactive today. But all he did was inspect me with his energy over and over again. For some reason, he was especially curious about my brain.
Even then, seeing how he just up and left, he didn’t find anything interesting.
[That’s because I was here,] Morr chimed in.
[He was trying to conjure up your energy and form another fragment.]
"...He was?"
Morr manifested itself in front of me.
[You ought to be more careful when you’re around people this powerful. And yes, he tried to form another fragment, and because of my interference, he thought he was able to.]
"Was able to?"
Did I mishear?
"Why didn’t you prevent him from doing that?"
Morr let out a sigh.
[I negated his energy and created a fragment of my own. In his eyes, he thinks the fragment that’s currently inside your body is his. That’s why he left.]
[In truth, I just conjured up some of your energy and created one. It feels like the real deal, so he won’t notice. You can use this leverage if you’re smart. No need to thank me.]
I wasn’t used to Morr taking such an arrogant tone.
Still, I felt really grateful, since he prevented something so dangerous from once again forming inside my body. Unlike the first time, I was sure that removing it a second time would be close to impossible.
And so with that in mind, I nodded at Morr in gratitude and finally shattered the Telekinetic Barrier that had been covering the room.
The whole palace was a lot quieter than it had been a few moments ago. Not to mention, there were far fewer people around, as many of them had either died or managed to run away.
Yet the demons were still as numerous as earlier. If anything, there might be even more demons now than earlier.
Despite that, I pushed the doors open, prepared to head to the center of the Gala like before. However, instead of the ground, the first thing that met me when I opened the door was a large ravine in the ground, going so far down, I couldn’t even see the bottom.
The palace was just one massive debris field at this point. Split in two, and littered with corpses. Even now, beside the door, there was a noble stuck to a wall, his skin burnt into the marble.
It was gruesome, and from the horrified expression on his face, I knew he hadn’t died peacefully.
Down below, I spotted several demons and gargoyles flying around, dragging the remains of humans around, dyeing the walls of the ravine red.
It was quiet.
But with the snap of my fingers, the whole ravine below echoed with a loud crack, as the demonic cores of hundreds of demons and gargoyles shattered at once.
SCREEEEEEEEECH!
KRAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
Instead of falling into the bottomless pit that this ravine was, the demons and gargoyles turned to dust, dropping all of the humans instead.
For once, I didn’t bother saving these people.
After all, with their limbs ripped off and their necks rearranged, they were better off dead.
...Is what I thought for a grand total of one second, before abruptly wrapping my Telekinesis around each one of the humans that were still alive. Then, I brought them back up to the top and stuffed them inside the room I was just in.
In the whole palace, this was basically the only safe-haven, and so, once they were inside, I quickly went around, giving my blood to the people and healing them.
And in the end, out of the 30 I brought back, I managed to save 27.
Satisfied, I finally left the room, and after shutting the door and making sure no demons could enter, I glanced over toward the center of the Gala.
For one, because of how much debris and destruction there was, I was able to see it directly.
And as expected, I spotted Clementine in the air, fighting Alexius. She was losing in both strength and energy control, but with her Soul Knights backing her up, she was just barely able to hold on.
However...
The reason I asked those questions to William earlier was simple.
Alexius was like a robot.
He doesn’t want to kill the emperor.
Since he’s the only person from that group who doesn’t...
That means killing him is fair game.
